I'm from Metropolis, born and raised. I got this very good job offer from the Gotham Times, but it would mean leave my current job as a journalist for the Daily Planet.
The Daily Planet is not a bad place to work, far from it… but you guys probably have heard about Lois Lane and Clark Kent, right? Being a journalist at the Daily Planet means being constantly overshadowed by its two stars, so maybe I can start a better career if I move.
But I’m afraid about the high crime rate and all the talks about how depressing and gloomy Gotham City is, so I’m not sure if I should take that offer or not. I mean, Metropolis has his crimes and all, but Superman always has our backs… I don’t know if the supposed “Batman” is capable of similar feats.
Any Anons from Gotham City who could tell me a little about your life there?
To illustrate my point, Image is a front page where a report by yours truly was supposed to be, but White decided to swap it by Kent’s “Urban Growth” report at the last minute.
I worked at Ace Chemicals for 5 years and never had a single problem... you just need to be careful to go back home and not go near the bad neighbourhoods... like in any big city.
Lincoln Foster
Although it is not the hellscape that Hub City is, as personal preference I’d rather be overshadowed than insane/mangled/dead.
I bet if you did a little research, you could make an article on how awful a place Gotham is for reporters. Could even make the front page...
David Young
Gotham user here, usually, it is always raining or cloudy. Not too gloomy, but it isn't too happy either. About crime, usually in day it is safe, but don't forget to bring something to defend yourself, the night, however, is like that awful horror movie, "The Purge", my advice, stay at home. About that Batman, i haven't actually see him, but they told me he has some sick moves. Oh, and there's smog everywhere The reason why i live in Gotham, despite being a massive shithole, is due to the job oportunities, i am a packager on Wayne Industries, they pay very well and the CEO is a nice guy, or at least, that's what Aaron told me...
For some reason White never allows any news regarding Gotham City make the front page... unless it directly involves Superman, he seems to have a certain dislike for the City.
Josiah Evans
Is it common to have recurring nightmares while in Gotham? I was staying there for a tech conference and everyone in my compant was from out of town and it seemed we all had similar nightmares. >Tentacles, Bats, Hell etc. You know what I mean?
Is it true that the island is 'New'? Like there are tales of Native tribes that went away for one reason and when they returned Gotham island just appeared outta thin air while they were gone
>Wayne Industries I'm trying to apply as a Security Guard, I know it has its risks, but even if something happens to me my family will be secured for life.
Hudson Lewis
What was your report about?
Luke Ross
Not to bad. I did some henching for the penguin back in the days and could safe lots of cash thanks to his great payment. It's all about meeting the right people and avoid the wrong. otherwise gotham has some amazing stories to tell.
Hunter Adams
Nothing happens in Jump City.
Jack Brooks
I wouldn't move to Gotham if I were you. Have you seen the crime rates? And the homeless population is out of control! If I were you I would consider moving out of state. Me personally I work at The Daily Bugle in Queens New York and it's a pretty solid job. The boss may be a hard-ass but you got to do what you got to do when you have to pay bills. Ya know?
Benjamin Gutierrez
Lex Luthor's last donation to charity and the implications of LexCorp involving itself in such causes.
James Jackson
>tfw when bro gets beat up by bat Gotham user here. Bro says hes 7 fucking feet tall and not even human. Faggot deserved it anywho, hes a dumbass. I work at a big belly burger but this city is fucking cursed. You'll never get bored tho.
Zachary Cooper
Gotham cucks btfo. Imagine whole city pretending to be under terrorist attack just to kill off competing team. Whole city is filled with liars. Rapid city monuments wins again in my book
try to dye your hair an unusual colour, or something that makes you stand out. villains usually choose the boring looking ones to kill.
Nolan Collins
>Anons thinking there is only 1 "Batman"
Anthony Myers
man im so happy living in central city, all we get is the robberies and then the occasional gorilla attack
Zachary Diaz
>boss may be a hard-ass JJ may seem like an asshole on public, but he is actually an amazingly kind human being. I worked there as a freelance photographer like 5 years ago to pay my college bills. He always tried to pay me lower than the standard fee, but the moment I started refuting him and pointing out the right fee he would always pay. I think he was just trying to help me build up some courage so other people would not take advantage of me (I once took my photos to other place and not only they offered me even less than JJ, but ultimately refused to pay me the standard fee when I refuted them).
He has always deny it, but I think he also helped me pay some legal fees one time I got into a legal problem due to some photos I took of Wilson Fisk.
After graduating, I stop freelancing for the Bugle and got a job in my field (Photography was more of a hobby). I heard he has a new photographer protege, a boy called Parker. I have seen his photos of Spiderman and the boy really does a great job.
Carson Baker
>central city It is true what they say? That if you see Flash and ask him if he wants to go have a drink, chances are he will say yes and even pay the first round?
Elijah Thompson
have you met jimmy olsen? is that podcast of his actually real, or is 'metallo' just some special effects thing?
Jonathan Barnes
I have met Olsen, though he usually works with Lane, to the point of almost being her exclusive photographer.
He is a good boy, maybe a little too fanboyish of Superman, but his photos are true, I can tell you.
John Kelly
Has there ever been a canon explanation as to why Gotham hasn't turned into a ghost town like Detroit?
I mean, the city has like six supervillains per square mile. People should be leaving in droves.
We grew up accustomed to the crime. Yes, there is a lot of supervillains, but Gotham is a big city, the real chances of getting involved with one are actually lower than you may think.
Elijah Foster
Rent is really, really, really, really REALLY low.
Kevin Thomas
It's insane, I can rent a penthouse in Gotham with the money I pay for my studio in Metropolis!
Ryan Cooper
>And I only got robbed three times, and they only took me for hostage twice! In two months!
Gothamcucks cope.
Bentley Edwards
>It's a Gothamfags complain about crime Try living in Hub City
Josiah Turner
Rent is also low where I live but I mean... Who'd want to live at Coast City after that asshole dropped a nuke on us. Well it's better than Blüdhaven
Aaron King
>that GOP text
Get the fuck outta here
Jacob Rodriguez
I don't know why so many people complain about crime in Gotham. I play in a band from Central City, but our first big gig was in the Iceberg Lounge, and everybody absolutely loved us, even the owner, Mr. Cobblepot personally congratulated us for such a great show. Ever since then it has been gig after gig in Gotham at night and we have never been robbed or assaulted, never.
Jordan Jenkins
>Has there ever been a canon explanation as to why Gotham hasn't turned into a ghost town like Detroit? It's the biggest port in the new world. Free healthcare, and it's mostly Catholic and Orthodox, or at least it used to be like that until DC gave every city the generic demographics of New Angelyork.,
Ryder Gutierrez
>Being a journalist at the Daily Planet means being constantly overshadowed by its two stars >implying Clark osn't leaching off Lois
everyone know that Clark is a cuck. Go to Gotham, you'll be fine. Just don't go outside at night.
Christopher Peterson
>Rent is also low where I live but I mean...
Even cheaper than where you live.
David Baker
>Have you seen the crime rates? crime rate in Gotham is less than Chicago/Berkley anyway. There's this rumor about our Commisioner being obsessed with raping the Joker, tought.
do real cities exists in the DCU?
Adrian Cox
>Joker You mean the Clown Prince of Clown the Gotham Tabloids made up to keep people from going out at night? Please... don't believe eveything you see on TV
Cooper Clark
Under different names, I think.
Colton Murphy
>do real cities exists in the DCU? yes
Ryder Myers
a true hero that gordon fella
Jose Wilson
Both cities have their pros and cons, but if you move to Gotham, try not to stay out too late.
I live in Smallville, and my life couldn't be better
Alexander Cook
I live by the big Waynetech building... Really nice area. What you wanna do is avoid any neighborhood near Arkham; the security there is an absolute JOKE. Blackwells barely any better.
Sebastian Wood
those neighborhoods near arkham or blackwells aren't so bad. what you want to do is stay clear of the abandoned funhouses, factories, museums and/or research laboratories dotted around the city. seriously, back in the sixties this was a huge entertainment and production town, but all that nosedived and now there's just a bunch of rotting buildings with amazing aesthetic. hipster friend of mine took pictures in one and took a springloaded custard pie in the face, hasn't been the same since
Julian Hernandez
No
Angel Diaz
Fucking Hick.
Jackson Lee
Screw the big cities. Go to the small towns, like Smallville, about the worse thing that has ever happened here is a meteor shower.
If you can survive each night not having to worry about some weird Bat-guy who beats up a guy in clown makeup then you should fine really.
Grayson Peterson
Gothamite here. The city isn't as bad as people say it is-- industry here is booming, and while the crime rate is bad, the real fucked loonies are mostly locked up behind Arkham. Just buy a handgun and you'll usually be fine. If you're going to take a job, Gotham Times is a good one. If you need a backup, I recommend sticking either with Wayne Industries, or one of the Cobblepot clubs. Both provide a good wage, and a lot of security.
Austin Nguyen
> industry is booming > crime rate is bad How?
Jeremiah Gonzalez
construction, mostly. they blow the buildings up a lot here.
Hello! Me are not from Htrae, do not come to Earth for vacation! Me not suggest you come to Htrae, it absolutely awful! Few job opportunity, plenty smog, many bad people you not want talk to! Bizzaro is worst enemy of all, and he have good enemy in Batzarro! Many other enemies too to keep you in danger wherever you don’t go!
Kevin Kelly
Because a huge part of that booming industry is fueled by the mafia. Why the hell do you think I mentioned the Cobblepot clubs? Falcone and Maroni also a run a whole bunch of shit, but they have some kind of blood feud, and after what happened to Dent, no one wants to get in the middle of that shit.
James Mitchell
Probably a good idea not to join any of Gotham's construction or waste management firms then.
Jeremiah Price
Hey, I do stage lighting and some dancing maniac in a zoot suit stole half my set dressing via a catchy song number. I'm beginning to think nowhere is safe.
Leo Rogers
Well, a lot of the whackjob villains can be theatrical.
Gabriel Ross
What the hell even happened to the city? Things couldnt have gone bad THAT quickly could they have?
Alexander Wilson
I would vote for Lex as president
Christian Green
buy a good gas mask, dont drink tap water and keep away form aband warehouse. You will be fine
Nathaniel Smith
Well he can't get drunk, so he's the safe vdriver
Jaxson Garcia
Also, don't go out at night. Try to avoid that as much as you can. However, if it's the Diamond District, then you're probably safe. Probably.
