>DUDE WHAT IF BILLY WAS KEKED BY THE HOMELANDER INSTEAD OF HAVING HIS WIFE DIE DUE TO HIM

The TV show makes a lot of unnecessary changes. If you've never read the comic, you might still enjoy it though if you like superhero stories.

Damn I was looking forward to that scene. Why do they always change the first important scene, FX did they same with Preacher

Something something people don’t want direct comic recreations something something

That's stupid, the people who haven't read it have no frame of reference and the people who have read it just want more of what they already like

binged the show, reading the comics (just got out to the part where Huey and Col. Mallory meet.) Show's pretty good too bad they pussed out with that plot twist. Here's hoping we get an episode dedicated to superduper though.

Can you name a single page to screen complete adaptation?

they're very different stories made with the same characters. The Comic is unnecessarily edgy at times, but it has a lot of details left out from the show. I enjoy them both.

I prefer the series. The comic was weirdly grim & edgy, even by Ennis standards. Not sure if this was before or after he did some Crossed shit, but he clearly needed to vent. Some great ideas and characters & I think the series did a good job of chewing out what worked and what didn't.

Tv version, the comics just seem unnecessarily edgy

Was it Homelander or his clone?

TV. The comic was full of lazy parodies, 2 dimensional characters outside the Boys, some oddly bad art and a meandering plot. The Tv show main issue is the pacing seems a bit too rushing.

>Was it Homelander or his clone?

Homelander. He very specifically recalls fucking her after he figures out who Billy is. Whether it was rape however is left ambiguous. He insists she came onto him though.

I like the series more, I'm not a teenager anymore and can only consume so much edge before it gets obnoxious.
Plus I find it hilarious how buttblasted people get do to the whole cuck change.

We don't even know IF Homelander has a clone in the show. Noir seems like a pretty chill dude and doesn't seem to be anywhere near as powerful as Homelander.

This, the show made the seven actual characters. A train actually has a story arc that intersects with Hughies in a meaningful way instead of just being a shithead for 50 issues.

Even Frenchie and the female have more depth of character behind them.

Only character I think is worse for ware is mothers milk. They kind of turned him into the stereotypical safe tough family man black character rather than going in depth into what happened with his dad and vought, but they could save that for season 2

I expect shows or movies to be different, but with this it's like everything they changed they managed to do in the worst way possible. None of the tone or themes of the comic are there at all. It's utter shite.

Watchmen

Squid

I don't think you've read Watchmen

Toss up
Comic is pretty good, but some characters better in the show, like Hughie and Homelander. The Stillwell change was interesting, but ultimately a let down when you just kill the character off.

10/10 casting though, nice touch adding Pegg in as Hughie's dad since comicbook Hughie is a dead ringer for him.

>10/10 casting though, nice touch adding Pegg in as Hughie's dad since comicbook Hughie is a dead ringer for him.
This confused me. Pegg is Scottish and looks JUST like him. Why would you make Hughie America, look nothing like him & then get the perfect cast to play his dad with the worst American accent ever.

What about the comics? Who did the rape there?

black noir

homelander was actually rather "harmless" until black noir gaslighted him into believing hes a twisted fucking psychopath

Honestly makes my brain hurt thinking any valid reason for that, this show just full of retarded nonsense.

The fuck was that twist at the very end

At this point, Pegg is too old to pull it off.

so i watched the tv show first then read the comics. i prefer the TV shows version of the seven. The show lacks with only focusing on the seven because stuff like the G-Men and other teams were just as interesting in the comics also lack of characters like Monkey and the legend. i doubt they could recreate the ending from the comics in this version of the show

>Here's hoping we get an episode dedicated to superduper though.

I only watched a recap of the series not the whole thing but it souded like they were settingbup the deep to take malcheicals role

>shaun of the dead was long enough ago that simon pegg is no longer a quirky 30-something but pushing 50 and cast as the dad of 20 year olds

Fuck

next season they probbably run away to russia and do that arch and maybe season 3 you do G-men and herogasm or something Season 4 or 5 is the final season?

Comics. TV makes changes that makes it boring. Comics was edgy and blunt but it had a sense of depth to how it was edgy and blunt. Butcher getting cucked just doesn't make me want to watch season 2. It ruins his justification to how fucked up he was in the comics.

Both good in their own ways

The show makes better use of the core characters that Ennis didn't really know how to use (e.g. the Deep, or Homelander to an extent)

It also fleshes out some plot points a bit better than the comic imo, Ennis could have done more with less arcs

However, it dramatically changes the tone of the story from, effectively, a CIA-backed street gang beating up supes to a team thrown together by circumstance on the run from a big conspiracy

Both good in their own ways

One gripe I have is that Ennis clearly based the characters on actors he liked, e.g.
>Butcher is clearly Vinny Jones
>Hughie is Simon Pegg
>Frenchie is Jean Reno

Problem is those actors are far too old, so we get a very miscast Hughie and a grizzled Butcher rather than the almost football hooligan homic guy.

I also thought changing Starlight's thing was questionable - in the show it's a #metoo throwback, but in the comic she is aware that she chose to do it, just regrets it. Subtle difference but a sign of the times imo

All in all I'm looking forward to S2

Pegg is like 50ish

The comic was clearly written while binge-watching Spaced

Sin City.

Disappointed with Stillwell, the character was great in comics. I think I still prefer the comic, but the show is alright. Just don't think of it as The Boys if you read the comics first.

I genuinely believe that Ennis is a literary genius so any adaptation of his works will never live up to my absurd standards.

this but unironically

Right. The Female was able to keep Noir from catching Frenchie. Sure she got gutted in the process, but I feel like if Noir was supposed to be a Homelander clone she wouldn't have even slowed him down

There is a scene of the baby killing her in the show, it's just revealed to be a lie.

I can't be the only one who thinks the wife looks like Meghan Markle?

>Dude what happened to all of my RAPE

So wait, I'm confused, when this premiered, people were shitting on it but now it has it's good points?

Most people agreed it was pretty good even when it came it. Most of the negativity is just typical autistic reeeing you see here on Yea Forums.

Are the superpowers inheritable?

The comics to be honest.

Homelander's baby is the only confirmed second gen supe.

Comics but the show is off to a good start even if it's really different.

I just finished reading the comics, and man, does it remind me why I don't read comics. Ennis can try to be as edgy as he wants, and at the end of the day he's got no balls, it's the same anodyne mainstream junk. Starlight is trash

The show may be better than the comic to begin with, but it's already set itself up such that the best parts from the comic are impossible to do now.
Can't have Butcher Baker Candlestickmaker, because Becky's character is ruined.
Can't have the white house confrontation and HNNNNNGGGGG, because Becky was clearly raped by Homelander himself.
Can't have Butcher's post-white house plan, because he's clearly winging it here and doesn't have a long-term goal in mind.
Can't have Stillwell's confrontation with Homelander because Stillwell is already dead, and their dynamic here is all fucked up(daddy issues vs. mommy issues)
Can't have 'Why'd you kill me dog, Jack?' because the show doesn't have dog nor Jack
They'll chicken out of doing MM's mom, Herogasm, Mah Underwear Man Malchemical, Maeve's decapitation, Love Sausage...
Basically the first season was good and fun. But the best parts of the comic were the slow-burn parts, and the show completely burned itself on what comes ahead.

tv, the comic is way too edgy at times and i liked the pacing in the show way better, characters werent as fucking stupid in the show either.

the showrunner said terror the dog would come in season 2, so as for 'why'd you kill me dog, jack?' or any variation of it with another character could still happen.

>Butcher didn't even know about compound V until halfway through season 1
Are you shitting me?

>HNNNNGGGGG I DID THINGS!
There's a small chance that Black Noir and Homelander have been switching.
>Stillwell
We still have Bradley, right? Just cast her as a guy and give him all the Stillwell shit.
>Why'd you kill me dog, Jack?
We still have Payback to fuck with. Could be a great way to end Stormfront if we don't get the curbstomp.
>Herogasm
We saw a club orgy already so it lost its shock. Still a chance for a vacation spot though. They could combine it with some of the G-Men story and have them all go undercover too to make it funnier.
>Malchemical
Doppleganger might be Malchemical.

>because Becky was clearly raped by Homelander himself.
I thought the thin about the TV show was that she wasn't.

>'t have Stillwell's confrontation with Homelander because Stillwell is already dead
WHAT?

I liked Elizabeth Shue's character, but I'm a bit dissapointed that she was Stillwell.

Now, if Giancarlo Esposito takes the role of Stillwell (sans name) on Season 2 I think it would be perfect. I can imagine him not being impressed by any of the supers.

100% agree. Have (You)

That is a good change. Squid is stupid

He still thought his wife was raped. If anything the newfound shame added to his already established hatred will change him in an interesting way. I think that change could have been done differently, but desu his character felt really out of place and cartoonish among the rest of the cast. This is a TV drama and general audiences would get bored.

One thing I don't enjoy is that it seems like Kripke is never going to get the boys to ingest compound V. You can only have so many, "Oh shit I'm horribly outmatched" moments before it gets tiresome. Half the fun of The Boys was watching the team trounce D-Listers and actually take the fight to the supes rather than do all that shit passively.

Half of the raped chicks cums so it's not a big deal, he also has super stamina and shit so 3x is not that good, it doesn't make the rape less rape tho

It was the climax of the first season, but some people are saying that Edgar is going to replace stillwell's role from the story. He was Stillwell's boss in the show and now he is the one handling Homelander. They even cast Giancarlo Esposito who is a pretty prominent and good actor.

Only a cuck like seth rogen could come up with that

Normies takimg on supes via normie means is more interesting then bruisers supes fighting other bruiser supes.

The problem isn't that he's not powered up, the problem is that the show's Butcher is a fucking idiot. How'd it take him so long to find out about V? Did he assume that The Deep is really king of the ocean, or what?

fact: they both suck

I think he thinks what any 4channer would: Vought got a super with water and oceanlife related powers and crafted him into the deep character.
The general public just thinks supers are genetic anomalies

What issue does the TV show run until?

Hard to say exactly due to the story changes

ya fuckin cunt I wanted a number not yer sonnets

fuck off summer try to be so edgy somewhere else

don't be a cunt all yer life

nuclear

don't you mean, this but not sarcastically?

lmao

He was being funny and had a fucking point.
