What would happen if they met?

An orgy

Time travel, evidently.

I thought Rick didn’t believe in time travel?

>One is from the 21st century.
>The other is from the 31st century.
How else could they meet.

Time line hopeing via alternative universes?

Rick would bully fransworth till fransworth gets the upper hand though some ironic mishap.

Would Rick try to kill Farnsworth's (great-*)grandpa to see what would happen?

Farnsworth would get absolutely rekt by Rick because Dan Harmon would throw a fit if his self-insert isn't shown as hyper competent and cool.

Does Rick have a Coolometer?

That just sounds like timetravel with extra steps. It's worth noting the professor doesn't believe in time travel either, yet has done it himself several times.

True but Professor has the excuse of senility

What? He timetraveled in the very first episode.

Farnsworth will dunk on rick because he was able to time travel.
Rick doesn't believe in time travel because hes too dumb to figure it out.

Ricks Farnsworth just like he did the Simpsons.
Then he would drink alcohol and fart around.

It would be low key and boring.
>Rick: Hey, I like your coat, buddy.
>Farnsworth: Oh, why thank you!
>Rick: So, uh, this thing is actually moving the universe around us and not flying itself, isn't it?
>Farnsworth: Indeed it is!
>Rick: Cool, cool.
>awkward silence
Or Farnsworth will unveil some wacky counterintuitive invention and Rick will understand the logic of it immediately.

Except the one time he figured out time travel by himself, he was only capable of going forwards, something we've already figured out the workings off currently. The entire episode involves him bender and fry hopping forward to find a backwards time machine, meaning he couldn't figure it out either. And all of that is after he admits he doesn't even believe in time travel himself either in the first movie.
Then by the end of the show, his best attempt is a button that can only send everything else back by ten seconds, and takes ten seconds to recharge. A far cry from what Fry did by accident in Roswell that ends well, or the events from the first movie with the time travel code.
I don't think either of these can really dunk on the other. But I bet they could throw a sick party.

It wasn’t that he could only go forward. It was specifically designed that way to avoid paradoxes.

Farnsworth is both senile, a savant, and has only purposefully broken the time stream by going forward. The one time was an accident and doesn't count.

Ogden Wernstrom would humiliate them both.

If he could do it, then why not pick an era to settle in and create a backwards time machine himself. Why keep hopping forward in the hopes that someone else did it.
It's because he couldn't do it himself. They got lucky that their universe is on a constant loop.

What about the Professor's many Doomsday devices? Rick builds neutrino bombs a lot, to the point that Morty knows how to disarm them. They could probably bond over that. Or maybe they could just collab on stuff out like Farnsworth does on occasion with the Globetrotters or Wernstrom.

Rick would finish his drink and break the bottle over Wernstrom's head and yell at him while he's cowering on the ground.
>What? You think I won't kick your fucking ass because we're old? I've killed more people than you've met, you wrinkly old bitch, I don't give a FUCK. If I ever see you looking at me again, I will steal your blood, test your DNA and kill everyone even REMOTELY related to you.

>like Farnsworth does on occasion with the Globetrotters or Wernstrom.
I think we just stumbled onto the real question here: Is Rick funky enough to be a Globetrotter? Is he? IS HE?

It ain't een a kreshun.

Well they represent different idealized versions of what a scientist should be. Farnsworth represents that of the prolific inventor. Specifically, one that exists so far into the future that we can only speculate as to what they’ve accomplished. For instance, he’s reached his 160’s. He’s invented a form of transportation so grand that it moves the universe around him. He’s created Time Travel, even though it goes one way until the end of time, then the Universe restarts. By all means, Farnsworth is the Edison of his time; it might even be safe to say he surpassed him. He’s very proud of his inventions, and of his smarts, and while general stupidity does upset him, he doesn’t exactly decry stupid people’s mere existence. Maybe because he himself isn’t immune to the pitfalls so called “less intelligent” people fall into. Hell, the man once turned himself into the police when he felt no one cared for him, and he’s tricked out his space-ship for street racing on a whim. This is a recurring theme Futurama plays with; no matter how smart we get, we will always be creatures of emotion, things that inherently look for validation. And maybe that’s okay.

They'd hate each other. Rick would be generally smarter and assholeish like those davinci people Farnsworth hated, but Farnsworth will have Time Travel as something Rick couldn't do. People also like Farnsworth more

No

Meanwhile, Rick represents an ideal of science giving man more or less total control of any situation. Rick is more of a force of god than a person in his world. He just kind of happens to people, and there’s nothing they can do about it because he’s just that smart, and that makes him arrogant. Arrogant to the point where he talks down to anyone and everyone he views as not smart or not cool. He’s even tried to outfox the devil (he wasn’t able to do it in the end, so he just beat him up). His smarts have lead to a general dissatisfaction with life that has inspired a great resentment for the world. It’s made him into a dick (which, coincidentally, is a variation on the name Rick).
Yet despite his many triumphs over every conceivable field of study, despite his chiding everyone for not being him, Rick is more unhappy than they’ll ever be. He numbs himself constantly, be it with alcohol or some alien drug, he’s attempted suicide twice on screen, and despite being the outspoken atheist he is, he’s been shown to not actually be so sure God isn’t real when his life is in danger. He’s the smartest thing alive, and he’s got the least degree of control over his happiness of anyone on the entire cast, even Jerry. Maybe Harmon and co. mean to say that Rick’s level of smarts in life really don’t matter, but his nihilism isn’t right, either. What we should do isn’t spelled out in his show, either. Perhaps in this respect, Rick and Morty is true to life.

In conclusion, if Professor Farnsworth and Rick ever met, it is my firm belief that they would suck each other’s dicks. In a literal sense.

the dozen soibois that watch rick and morty would cream their tighty whiteys and not much else

Yikes, you're gonna be upset when you find out it's been contractually renewed for at least 70 new episodes.

To shreds, you say.

How do you think Fry got there?

>imagining other people being upset about the show is the only entertainment the show provides
spend your time on shit entertainment, i really don't care bro. not like anything of value was lost.

I wonder if it causes another macdonalds sauce hysteria bullshit incident.
That one video with autistic kid was wonderfull.

i don't know what that means, i'm not fat

I think this one
youtube.com/watch?v=-GC5rAX0xHg

Oh my,and his Morty? To shreds you say.

I feel like Farnsworth would break Rick simply because Farnsworth has found something that Rick never can, happiness.

Rick discovers that Fannsworth knows the recipee for the Szechuan and travels to his dimension to discover the secret.
Fannsworth does knows the recipee but he remembers he forgot where he put it, and besides it won't give it to Rick because of the misuse of the Portal Gun, being misuse in the way Rick uses it, he counters it by remarking the hypocrisy of inventing the ship that moves the universe just so he can travel a few minutes faster.
They will bond over Fannsworth teaching him about the true meaning of science and Rick teaching him about the different meaning of science in other multiverses.
At the end the Szechuan sauce is not the same because of one key ingredient being mispelled in Futurama universe.

A staggering chain of escalation and oneupmanship that ends with multiple universes being destroyed and absolutely nothing being proved to anyone.

While the result is technically a tie, Farnworth claims the moral victory by being sincerely oblivious to the horrible nature of his actions, while Rick has to rely on a chain of failed self-justifications for being a genocidal monster.

Then an orgy.

Rick realizes that there are now TWO people that are smarter than him.

Shit, you got me there. All Ricks freeze people to neutralize them. C-137 did it to Frank, and the council of Ricks do it to Jerries. He wouldn't even have to do it to himself for it to happen...

Oolala someones gonna get laid in physics class

>Rick still somehow loses in the end and has his credit stolen
>WERNSTROM

Does Morty lack the delta brainwave? Could a Fry work as a Morty?

Attached: DeltaBrainwave.jpg (500x376, 55K)

I think Morty is smarter than fry

One Fry is worth at least 3 Morties.

That's actually a really good question. I'm sure with experience Fry could make a good Morty. The kid didn't learn how to defuse Rick's drunkenly made neutrino bombs over night.

They established Fry doesn't send out brain waves so he would be the worst person for that role.

He only lacks the delta brainwave. There are 6 other frequencies of brainwaves.

They're both scrubs.

Where’s his Smelloscope?

Attached: 4016347B-8D5C-46F6-BC58-34514A3ACDB7.gif (213x201, 429K)

>Yea Forums hates R&M
>repeatedly makes it clear they've never seen it

Forward time travel is real and proven. It's backwards time travel that's bullshit. Rick could travel 980 years into the future without issue, but he would be stuck there.

I thought the joke was that Rick can't wrap his mind around it.

I don’t hate it, just never got into it. Rick made me sad.

>>By my calculations; by Tuesday it will be Thursday. By Wednesday it will be August. And by Thursday it will be THE END OF THE UNIVERSE.

Yeah, Rick is depressing regardless of how you interpret him. I'd say have fun with the series though, don't analyze it the way other people tell you. Also, Rick steals time travel crystals from testicle monsters in the first season; not to mention he claims to have portal'ed to a future dimension in the first episode. The creators said they just didn't want to deal with time travel because fucks with plot and shit.

Would Rick ever accept help to get back? Or would he resign to being stuck in the future?
How long until he walks into a suicide booth?

I thought time moved slower as when space is distorted around super high gravities? You're talking about theoretical that won't happen until people and countries stop throwing stones and work on plans. We have designs for fun shit but can't do any of it because of resources plus some religious fundy would blow it up to prove god exists.

well i watched it and i regret it but i kinda wish you all did this so there would be just cause to lock you up in the looney bin
>oh my gosh that was hilarious
no

Look up the Hafele–Keating experiment, we've already done it with atomic clocks on commercial airliners, and the atomic clocks aboard GPS satellites constantly confirm our findings.

I think another big difference between Rick and Farnsworth is their approach to science. Rick always uses science as a means to serve him. Through out the series we never see him create anything that isn't out of self interest. He makes a whole separate universe to power his car battery, He creates a tiny robot just to butter his toast, he turns himself into a pickle to get out of a therapy session. If Rick can't profit from it in some way he doesn't really bother. On the other hand Farnsworth seems to create out of his own love of science. Because for this he decides to pursue whatever stupid idea pops into his head and then tries to figure out how to make it work, Like the Finglonger, The alternate universe boxes, and a rocket ship that operates by pushing the universe around it. He's constantly pursuing the limits that science can take him and regardless of whether or not it's an invention that applies to him or directly benefits him he puts his all into it, just to see if he can. In conclusion, Rick makes science work for him. Farnsworth works for science.

Yes, my great grandfather knows about those. Not sure one set of experiments changes the other.

Also keep in mind when you work with insane speeds you run the risk of creating exotic particles you cannot protect against. Look into it, it's fun hypotheticals for faster than light travel. Doing any sort of time travel using speed would cook anyone and anything.

Why settle for the scents of other places when you can instantly spread whatever smell you want across the entire universe?

Beautiful dubs

I'd rather see Rick interacting with Bender than Farnsworth.

The smelloscope can do other things! Why shouldn’t it?!

It would be a cross over episode with the two constantly getting on eachothers nerves till they start fighting for real. Eventually both shows main cast would be killed off, and some horrific thing would end existence itself killing both scientists.
episode ends with a pull out to the what if machine and fransworth explaining to Rick that's what would happen if he merged their universes. The two agree to sever the bridge permanently to avoid that, but both send a horrific invention along it at the last minute before the cut.

Too similar, right down to the latin last names.

Of all things, Rick took a finglonger back with him.

Rick can only figure out how to pause time. Going forward in time is still time traveling, something rick cant do.

>Rick inexplicably thinks it's the hight of innovation too, as does the rest of the family, only Jerry thinks it's kind of dumb.

Farnsworth would take either the butter robot or a Meeseeks box.

Bender teaches Butterbot how to live
