Why did mega mind never get the attention he deserved? It was a genuinely good movie I can go back and enjoy without cringing once. The characters were pretty lively and felt perfect for their roles.

I watched this in the theater and have owned a copy of it on Blu-Ray since it was released- and I very rarely bought physical media let alone Blu-Rays. One of the best Dreamworks Animation films and a great pastiche of superhero movies.

Despicable Me launched a massive ad campaign to ensure it stuck in the public's mind as the original that Megamind's producers weren't interested in putting up the cash to compete with, so most people thought Megamind was just a cheap knockoff "t-thanks, grandma" movie.

Explain; "the bad guy is just misunderstood" isn't terribly interesting, if an OK idea for comedy.

Ralph ends up being a hero who saves what he cares about, though, and he does it with his "bad guy" power of wrecking stuff. It seems like a more nuanced message of accepting reality for what it is AND choosing your own path within it.
