she was cuter as a frog

not even trying to be racist, I'd probably still think the same thing if she was white and turned into a frog

Winnie the Pooh 2011 was based so no

I liked Moana

Princess Frog was not good, so no.

Why not both?
True...
Topic should be "last good Drawn Animated Disney ever released"

Your shit opinion is factually wrong

Moana was shit.

Tangled

Op is right.
Nudisney is shit.

Good is a stretch. It's an okay film that has some pretty major structural flaws.

>Your shit opinion is factually wrong
the insufferably played up NAWLINs setting makes me want to shoot myself and the animal slapstick is boring. the movie feels like a shitty noname 90s production but with 20 times the animation budget

last good disney film was Lilo and Stitch

Tangled was better.

>he insufferably played up NAWLINs setting makes me want to shoot myself and the animal slapstick is boring
Literally every Disney movie plays up their setting and makes it into an exaggerated, larger than life version of reality.
This is an incredibly superficial criticism.

Toy Story 3, Winnie the Pooh, Tangled, and Wreck it Ralph. I also honestly liked Cars 2 and Big Hero 6 but I think Yea Forums hates those.

Can anyone tell me why Tangled is so popular?

Cute to you, but not to the little girls it was being marketed to. Their stupid decision to make her stay in frog-form for 80% of the movie was what finally killed feature-length hand-drawn animation in American for good.

>honestly liked Cars 2
Your opinion is now automatically discarded.

yes but the bayou is already completely insufferable.

>complains about insufferably played up NAWLINS setting
>large chunk of the film isn't set in New Orleans

this movie fucking sucked ass. i watched it like 6 months ago for the first time and was expecting something great. holy shit was it bad

>awful songs and way too many of them
>most generic, bland story ever written
>complete lack of any humor not for babies

Because it's a good movie with likable characters and a clean storyline? I just wish it had been in 2D.

>"I liked Moana".
He immediately regretted blurting it out. Dozens of heads swiveled in his direction. An excruciating silence struck the room like a semi truck and lingered for a moment before they all erupted into a collective fit of manic laughter.

In my defense I saw it like 5 years after planes came out and on television when I was way too old for it anyways so I knew it was going to be garbage. It was entertaining in a really stupid way.

Zootopia exists

i never considered that
you may be on to something

Nah, it was releasing Winnie the Pooh the same time Harry Potter came out that really did it in.

You are delusional.
The movie was released days away from Avatar's release. That's what killed it.

This movie sucked. Tiana is a boring character, oh no she doesn't know how to have fun and relax.....that's a non-flaw. Up there with Kimpossible not knowing how to drive a car when she doesn't even need to learn.

It's karma that Tiana's merchandise is the one which sells the least:

jetmag.com/entertainment/something-shady-happening-princess-tiana-disney/

Not even Little Girls give a damn about Princess and the Frog which is the demographic the Jewish Mouse cares about for Disney Princes Shit.

>feet
>cute short-haired brunette Raps at the end
>lake scene with all the lanterns was neat
>contrarian option compared to the vastly more popular Frozen
I remember seeing commercials for it and thinking it was like Shrek(shenanigans in some generic fantasy land, and also there's a funny quadruped). It was way better than I was expecting

this movie sucks and is boring. The rapunzel movie is the last good movie Disney made

i wish sweaty tiana would flop down on her bed while i was in it and shoved her sweaty feet into my face while sweating all over me

Disney princesses don't need to be complex, deeply flawed characters to work. Belle certainly wasn't. And Jasmine's only flaw was not wanting an arranged marriage.

Disney had already announced PATF as their last hand drawn animated film before it was even released. Nothing ‘killed’ it.

cars 2 was fun because it was stupid and didn't take it self seriously

Don't fool yourself you son of a cunt who should have aborted you. Tangled ONLY succeeded because it was the first Generic Disney Princess in CGI. That's it's novelty. It was nothing we hadn't seen before and you loser normies, yes you are, worship Disney Princess Shit even worse than little girls. Die in a fire.

The only thing a Disney Princess needs to be is pretty enough to be eternally regurgitated to sell merchandise. In the case of canonically ugly princesses like Snow White (literal toddler baby face) or Merida they're redesigned for the Disney Princess brand so their merchandise sells better with stupid little girls.

A Disney Princess' main goal is to be visually appealing so that dumbass twats and their daughters buy the merchandise.

The music in this movie is a million times better than the teeny bopper ear rapes that passes for nuDisney music in Tangled and Frozen.

But Winnie the Pooh was the last one. Early development for Tangled planned for it to be a 2D/CGI hybrid, similar to Paperman. When PatF failed they stopped trying to develop that technology.

The movie would have been better if they spent more time developing Dr. Facilier as a villain. Voodoo would have been more entertaining than watching Naveen and Tiana hop around a swamp for 30 minutes.

Alan Menken wrote the songs for Tangled.

The backgrounds and animation were beautiful but they tried so hard to play it safe and not offend anyone that they ended up with a middle-of-the-road movie with mostly bland, forgettable characters outside of Charlotte and Facilier.

>she was cuter as a frog
Her frog form was cute, sure, but Tiana was built for scooping up in your arms and snuggling

How can a movie that was catered to black people when the black female lead is a frog for 70% of the film and the brown male lead was a frog for 95% of the film? Didn't even touch upon that it was Jim Crow Louisiana and how difficult it would be for Tiana to buy and open her own restaurant in the first place.

More pertinent, Tiana is the focal character, not the protagonist. She's functionally Naveen's sidekick.

In an earlier draft of the script, Tiana loved jazz and she and Naveen met in a club (where he was disguised as a commoner) and they bonded over their shared love of music. Tiana's dream was to open a nightclub of her own. Somewhere along the line, Disney decided that having a black girl who liked to hang out at the club was racist so they changed her to a workaholic waitress instead.

The original setup was still viable with the change, you'd just need to make it so that Naveen was passionate about food and they meet at her workplace.

The jazz music probably would have worked better given the setting and the time period. If they wanted to show African American culture and contributions to music and society as whole, that would have been a great way to do it.

>black lead
>female lead
>black female lead
>black culture, non-appropriated
>funded by an international conglomerate

How is this movie not being revisited in a #woke context, yet "Twilight" has been given such a re-examination?

Attached: Why PATF is racist.jpg (916x529, 245K)

This.

CHRISTIANS made it.

Yeah, but how likely was Disney going to allow one of their animated leads go to a nightclub?

How is it they never dropped a PatF theme restaurant in WDW?

Zootopia is good but upon rewatching the pace is kinda wonky and you feel it's length.

Gaston and Rapunzel both hung out in taverns where alcohol was being served. There was a scene in a bar in the Great Mouse Detective where a mouse pretty much did a strip tease for a bunch of drunk mouse patrons. A nightclub setting or a club where music was playing wouldn't be that different.

Rapunzel doesn't feel like she is "in the way" of the adventure. Moana and Elsa kind of do. Like they're getting by just because of other people jumping in front of them and taking the bullet. But Rapunzel actually gets Eugene out of trouble several times. The songs are catchy. The character designs and visuals are pretty great even for a 2010 film. The relationship between Gothel, Rapunzel, and Eugene are strong. The animal sidekicks actually contribute to the adventure. The humor is very character driven and not just trying to be quirky or cutesy for the sake of it (Like the finish each other's sandwiches shitty dialogue).

Elsa was originally the main villain so it kind of makes sense that she would feel like she was in opposition to the other protagonists.

>Like the finish each other's sandwiches shitty dialogue
That's actually very important thematically in the structure of musicals and a major piece of foreshadowing for the film. In fact, it's the only piece of foreshadowing.

Also the songs in the Tangled tv show are also neat. Especially “Ready as I’ll ever be” and “Waiting in the wings”

wow, now I hate this movie even more now.

That sounds great. I can practically picture it in my head.

>Good characterization and personality of main casts and villain
>Good pacing and dialogues of story
>The couple with the best romance arc and chemistry in Disney franchise
>Good example of exhibiting strong and independent female character without dissing or devalue males
>Funny, likeable and non-useless sidekicks
>Alan Menken as composer
>Great visual and animation in 2010 standard
>The lantern scene
>Good continuation of the story with lore exploration and character development with the TV show
Mostly I'm not very into Disney's (non-pixar) CGI movies but Tangled is always the exception in my list.

Pretty sure Frozen was also supposed to be 2D.

It's replying to

Nobody wanted a black princess. Even the blacks prefer white dolls.

unironically my favorite disney film
it was just a ton of fun and creative
something that stuck out and really liked was all the stuff about voodoo magic

A man of TASTE. and CULTURE.
