the initial run of Crossed is decent enough with memorable moments, can't say the same for the spinoffs

How does the Crossed virus even spread if this what infected do to their victims?

Really? Because it sounds like you agree with me.
One is actually fun and things happen - the other is a snoozefest by a hack who fucked up TWO endings to his own comics.
Between bad and boring bad is always infinitely better than boring.

It's like eating a greasy fatburger versus eating cardboard. It's not believable anyone would prefer cardboard no matter how bad the burger is.

I'd compare it to eating a rotten burger or a pile of grease trap filters.

Both are inedible, one could have been edible but in no way shape or form is and some people are more bothered by that than something that is straight refuse but it's a matter of what offends the sensibilities more.

I haven't read much of it, but not all of the crossed are equally crossed: some are far more lucid and in control of their immediate impulses. They're the ones coming up with weird and unusual ways to spread the disease and create more crossed. I vaguely remember there's one issue that takes place during the tail end of this epidemic and one of these crossed was trying to establish a tribe of what was left of 'his' people. Most of the initial crossed had died out due to their own self-destructive violent behavior or were killed in confrontations with survivors.

Anyway long story short he was betting on sexual reproduction to make more crossed, but all of his babies miscarried.
