Hire older writers. Like, people in their 40s or older. Young people are not funny. Too many people born after 1980 grew up with shitty snarky, self-depreciating, or self-referential humor.

And give it a higher budget. All the funny jokes in the world would be ruined if your animation looks like dog shit.

By the late '90s that zeitgeist was gone and if it were to continue (for the money), the show needed a new identity. They chose the simplest and most obvious answer; a wacky sitcom for its own sake.

Maybe pivoting to focuses satire of modern culture might be worth it.

It's not possible though. The show and staff have shilled for "equal pay" and condemning Micheal Jackson the profit of others so I don't think they have any spine left.
