Carrie is extremelly overrated in and out universe. Teri is extremelly underrated in and out universe.

This show has a real issue about how to use their side characters properly, and not just for visual jokes.

I used to like Carrie a whole lot too, but rewatching the show I became very aggravated with her. She gets a lot of screentime and sentimental moments, but it all feels undeserved. It all just sort of happens too quickly for it to have any real effect.
She just seems like a watered down Penny. There's nothing Carrie does better in a narrative sense than Penny.

I still feel that around the episode with the wattersons being kicked out of Elmore for being awful was when it got bad. They went from people who seem to have good intentions, but always got themselves and everyone in trouble, to a family that would pretend to their house for sale to leech of the residents living in it.

I hated it when the show puts an emphasis on how awful and consequential they and their actions are. Despite all the crazy stuff that lives in Elmore, its arguably the most generic looking one-note characters that causes all the problems. It sterilizes the wonders and possibilities of out of the world when everything is from the viewpoint from Gumball and his family.
