I thought people hated these.

Fanfiction bait for the first and Fun times for the second.
And the Animation and direction wasn't total shit.

i dont know what are you talking about those two movies suck ass, specially the timon and pumba one

The second lion king is unironically not a bad stand alone movie. It's nothing special but it is miles ahead of any other sequel

Don't get me wrong, Simba's Pride is still definitely mediocre, but its still at least palatable, which is more than can be said for shit like Tarzan II and whatever the second Aladdin movie was called.
Also Lion King 1 1/2 is the best Disney sequel

For me, it's Cinderella 3. The best direct to video Didney sequel.

All Lion King 2 really needed to be was watchable for it to stand out as one of the good DTV sequels. It wasn't amazing, but it was nowhere near as bad as something like Mulan 2.

1&1/2 manages it by following the same formula that Lion King claims to.
Lion King professes that it is retelling Hamlet with a bit of Macbeth though Lions and shit, and 1&1/2 is obviously Rosencratz and Guildenstern are Dead.

I thought the Aladdin sequel films were decent as a kid. I haven't watched it since but I knew it was better than most shit like Hunchback 2, Mulan 2 and so on at least

Lion King II is awful and only well remembered because of Nostalgia and a song that was actually good.

The Lion King 1 1/2 actually had some of the original staff involved and knew it was awful so that made it work. And it also has Bambi II tier animation, so it actually looks good.

And don't forget that Environmental Tale film that was in the Land Pavillion at Disney World. That is actually really good

Lion King 2 is "Romeo and Juliet".

mulan 2 is salvageable just for the shang overreacting scene

Lion King 1 1/2 knew that it was a joke and never tried to pretend that it was trying to live up to the original. At the very least, I've never been able to bring myself to hate it. Plus, I have to give them credit for keeping Timon's backstory consistent with the cut scene from the first movie.

Lion King 2 sucked. I hated Kiara who nonsensically extremely quickly just fell for Kovu and Kovu sucked. Literal emo fag, has guilty conscience throughout the movie over something that....he did NOT do. It just felt melodramatic. At least Simba was fooled into thinking he was responsible for murder which haunted him. Kovu is clean entirely of any crime yet he goes on about his guilt and such BS. I also never liked Romeo and Juliet so seeing some story inspired by that never appealed to me. Lion King 2 is just complete trash and the only reason people at times bring it up? It's Kiara's porn.

Kovu is kinda fuckable and sexual. This makes the movie worth it

>because of Nostalgia and a song that was actually good.
You mean because of that lion everybody wants to fuck.

Kino song

As most people have already stated. Lion King 2 was by no means great. But stands easily as the best direct-to-video sequel of all time. If it got remade with more care and effort, it could be great. All the pieces are there. Just needs better execution.

Literally the only thing I remember from the movie

I like how Latin America just called lion king 1/2 just lion king 3
The translate production were like “yeah we’re not following your shitty joke”

The villain song encompasses the problems with the movie perfectly. It's SO close to being good, both the song and the visuals, but falls flat due to the movie not having enough polish.

I’ve always wondered why TLK2 was a DTV sequel, the original was a massive success why not give it the theatrical budget?

He is really sexy and I don't know why.

All the other sequels had flopped so Disney had no faith

Basically what this user says. The whole Zira exile thing was never given an explanation beyond they support Scar so Simba kicked them out. But thanks to the books showing Kopa and Simba's helicopter parenting of Kiara, one of the most popular fanfiction bait is that Zira killed Kopa in order to wipe out Simba's bloodline then kill him. Simba exiles them after that and that's why he hates Zira so much as shown in the movie.

>I hated Kiara who nonsensically extremely quickly just fell for Kovu and Kovu sucked. Literal emo fag,
No wonder you don't like Romeo and Juliet, because that's exactly what happened there too.
Romeo was moping around because he couldn't get this week's Love of his Life to return his affection, then Benvolio and Mercutio dragged him to the Capulet's party, he fell for Juliet in a similar manner as the other girls before her, except she was actually into him.
Then it spiraled down from there.

Give Romeo & Juliet one more chance, but watch it in the frame of it being a cautionary story about dumb teenagers instead of a romance.
My favorite is the DiCaprio adaptation.

Cute brooding boy that looks bad but is actually complete softy, it's a standard in anime.

>Kopa
Literally who

>Evil as plain as the scar on his face
Something about the characters blatantly referencing Scar and still clearly being afraid of him is really fucking cool to me. I guess I never really thought about how great of a villain Scar was.

Fucking this, a sequel better then the previous movies.

Am i the only one who did not think Return of Jafar was completely bad

Right he's Sasuke

Proto-Kion. Between the Lion King and The Lion King II there were some childrens books that had Simba's son being a lion named Kopa.

There are a series of books that show the cub from the end of the 1st Lion King, Kopa, learning about the Pride Lands. They have one that tells Scar's backstory including his birth name Taka. But Disney did to them what they did to the Star Wars EU, make them not canon. Instead we get Kion and the Lion Guard, fuck Disney.

I love how all-in they went with such a ridiculous fucking concept. If I remember correctly it also added a bit of depth to the prince and king as well. Just an overall really enjoyable film.

I really like how Simba is portrayed here. He's usually so laid back that it's cool seeing him showing why he's king. He's someone you don't talk back to.

look, there's two kinds of people in this world: you either had lion king on VHS while your were growing up, or you had lion king 2.

>Sasuke
Not the example I'd use, as there's not much soft in Sasuke. He knocked up the only suitable female and proceeded to fuck off for the next 12 years or so throwing himself into his work without ever visiting his "family".
Now that I put it like this, I think Sauce might be depressed.

Lion King 2 was first released on VHS retard

>Kion
Get that goofy shit out of here.
Fuck Disney for making him.
>hurdur nobody ever mentions him but he's canon

Everyone else is too busy working about whether or not Granny's gonna GETCHA

Lion King 2's biggest problem is how last-minute the writing is. They wanted to do Romeo and Juliet, but they also wanted a story about the son of Scar. But because making Kovu the actual son of Scar would have made the love story an incest one, they made him his adoptive son who just happened to look like him. And because Scar died when Kovu was a cub, Kovu has no personal or familial connection with him meaning he spends the entire movie angsting about filling the shoes of a lion his mom dated and not someone he actually knew.

Both Aladdin sequels were surprisingly decent.

You know, I don't think I have watched any of the directly to VHS disney movies growing up. I wonder how that happened.

Did you have parents that actually paid attention to what you were watching, but didn't control it with an iron grip like only letting you watch 30 min a day?

Yet they gave neither character a name.

Still a good movie though.

AN OUTRAGE

DISGRACE

I didn't notice as a kid how much of a gulf there was in animation quality except during the finale when Jafar dies and the effects are extra terrible.

I remember Pocahontas 2 being on par with the original. Certainly Mulan 2 was the worst of the bunch

Wasn't Lion King 1 1/2 actually released in theaters though? Seems like that would be why they put more effort into it. Although I remember Jungle Book 2 being released in theaters and yet I remember that being the same quality as the direct-to-video sequels.

I find it meh but Second Rate is an absolute banger

No. But Lion King was re-released in theaters around the same time.

LK2 has really good music though. Fanfic-tier plot, but good music and moments.

Mulan 2 is more Mulan and I want to cum inside that beautiful girl

But those aren't Aladdin and the King of Thieves

still surprised how disney got away with that.

SEE YA LATER AGITATOR

What a waste of returning voice actors, except Murphy who dodged a bullet I guess

Mulan should have had a TV show with Asian shit like Aladdin had Middle Eastern shit, Hercules had Greek shit, and Tarzan had African shit

Disregard real history and the possibilities were endless

I had these two on vhs
