Short term versus Long term.
Viren has the short term view. Xadia needs to be dealt with now so we can survive. It’s not necessarily “wrong” but it doesn’t take the long term into account. For example how much of the world runs on magic or requires magic creatures to even work, or something like that (admitted this issue hasn’t really been explored yet in the show).
Callum, Ezran, and Rayla are taking actions for the long term. By returning the Dragon Prince there is a chance at peace, and lasting peace where Xadian and humans are either killing eachother or in a stalemate. And Callum’s ability ti access the Sky Arcanum and do magic shows that humans can be at an even footing with Elves and Xadia.
