Shame it's cancelled. Will we see Swampy, elsewhere?
Cool. I'll be sure to keep an eye out to see if the channel that aired Doom Patrol here picks this up as well. Did people keep uploading these or did they stop after the fourth episode?
A lot of shows I liked got the axe after first season, but this one hurts the worst because it was genuinely good
Thankee Sai
Why was it canned? Too expensive to make? Then why did they even make it in the first place?
Some WB suit wanted CSI: Swamp but got a horror show instead
Because the execs thought it would be more procedural, like a police medical episodic show
Damn, as hateable as Woodrue is, poor bastard just wanted to cure his wife
It's because they thought they could write off part of the filming as tax-deductible thanks to some legal loopholes, but then they found out they'd have to pay the full amount. It was too expensive to justify a second season with the same production values, so they chose to cancel it instead.
It's a shame but it has nothing to do with office politics or the quality of the show itself. It's just economics.
Clown World
Nah, that was spread by some guy on Twitter who turned out didn't know what he was talking about.
No one knows for sure. Supposedly some execs just had a hate boner for it. Maybe the real reason will pop up now that it's over.
Welp. Time for Matt Cable to become a dream raven in Netflix's Sandman. He dead.
>That fucking Floronic Man suit
>The last scene we saw him in before the after credits scene was him falling asleep in his car. Possibly dreaming of a raven?
Speak of which, is Netflix really that starved for shows that they are willing to pay out of the ass for Sandman? Because Sandman sounds perfect for HBO Max
I swear I'll watch it eventually.
Canada is getting it on Show Case
Are you dipshits still spouting this bullshit?
It was canceled because it was shit and really if it were Abby and her gaysian friend going around solving random strange plant based monster cases for the CDC eventually discovering Swamp Thing and the cabal or whatever the fuck it is then the show would have been a lot better
>Too expensive to make?
Probably, combined with the rumours that AT&T didn't like the show.
>September
Better late than never I guess.
Watching episode 7 now. Glad to see that Mama Sutherland is stepping up because her hysterical mother act was getting old.
They probably want to time it so it ends around Halloween
Welcome to some TV in Canada
Doom Patrol also started like two months in to the US release.
Hell, we don't even get all the Turner related stuff because no network buys them. Or they get bought by an expensive movie-service channel that no one uses.
it doesn't last
>It was amazing
>It beat everything

And That's a Good Thing! You should go work for The Mary Sue with those writing skills of yours.
I dropped the show at episode 2 when the black BFF was a lesbian. They had to make sure we knew she was a lesbian because she had her girlfriend had a sleep over. No thanks.
Thats what happened in reality dipshit.
Show was reviewed well and really isn't shit at all.
Imagining being this insecure that lesbians make you drop a show. How gay of you.
It's not what happened retard. North Carolina debunked it, WB debunked it, AND DC debunked it
It was a shit show that should have been way better
>Here's your Floronic Man bro
I liked Swamp Thing but it really could have been better in a lot of places. I don't think I'll miss it as much as I thought I would, hopefully it will create enough buzz to jump start the Justice League Dark stuff.
Downloading the finale now
That's literally a play on the cartoon theme you crybaby
Yep. The 1991 Swamp Thing cartoon.
I’m glad for what we got, but with as much setup for future storylines as there were, scattered throughout the show and especially in the finale, the whole thing just leaves me feeling frustrated. They even ended on a really solid cliff-hanger, and a lot of allusions that Avery isn’t really Avery anymore. I’m still holding out hope for a stealth continuation with Animal Man, but I’m also not holding my breath; they certainly can’t just decide to give it a second season cause the set’s been torn down and would need to be rebuilt.
Just the same, I’m glad for what we got, and the DC streaming platform continues to have a pretty strong record. Young Justice, Doom Patrol and Swamp thing we’re all excellent, and the only clunker so far is getting massively course-corrected in its second season.
And goddamn how fucking amazing were the Swamp Thing and Floronic Man prosthetics? Just...goddamn across the board.
I'd love to see some sort of continuation of this world and story, whether it's Animal Man, Justice League Dark, or even a new Constantine series, but I'm not holding out any hope.
I would love a hard-R Hellblazer series, but even after as good as Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol have been, I think DC/Warner Bros as a whole just does not know how to use or write John Constantine anymore.
I liked it but the cut of 3 episodes really hurt it. Plus it felt rushed to cover it up.
What was that thing Avery coughed up? Is he gonna be Rot Host?
>how fucking amazing were the Swamp Thing and Floronic Man prosthetics? Just...goddamn across the board.
Yeah. They were super top notch, I liked they didn’t go pure CGI instead blended practical costume and touched it up with CGI. I wish more shows would do this.
They deserve an assortment of awards for special effects after the autopsy scene, but they won’t get any nominations because those shows are still heavily biased against streaming shows and movies.
And the mystery of the "Faceless Man" (Abby's father).
That was Anton Arcane, Lord of The Rot and Abby’s ‘uncle.’ Tl;dr he’s an incredibly old lich that’s worked for the Nazis, and really is related to Abby, just...very distantly.
>And goddamn how fucking amazing were the Swamp Thing and Floronic Man prosthetics? Just...goddamn across the board.
Yeah, they did the impossible and did a good, hulking Swamp Thing without needing gratuitous CGI.
>really is related to Abby, just...very distantly.
Was that a New 52 retcon? I haven't read that era since it was actually being published and don't remember everything, but I just finished reading everything prior to it a few months back and Anton is genuinely her uncle at least up through 2006.
Can't wait for them to do a Swamp Thing movie where he'll be all cgi
How is he her uncle if he is super old?
I could swear that his being very old and a member of the Nazi party pre-dated the nu52, but I could be entirely wrong and time travel fuckery is involved. I mean, you would know better having just read the old stuff. But I do remember, and again I could be totally wrong, that Anton was Abby’s great great great great grand uncle or something like that. But it could be time travel fuckery and Anton is her mother or father’s brother.
Necromancy is a hell of a drug
When Swamp Thing went on his time travel adventure, we see Anton as a young man during WW1, and his brother (Abby's father) was still a child. Fast forward 60 years and it all lines up. Anton looks at least in his 80s and Abby is in her 20s.
This all being said, if there was in fact a retcon, I 100% understand it. This timeline only makes sense if we're following the old canon that Swamp Thing and Abby met in the 70s. With a sliding timeline, Abby cannot simultaneously be a young woman with a former Nazi uncle.
