It’s great. No complaints, no skittles and no grand metaplot, just unpretentious space adventures. It plays to all of Morrison’s strengths and I’m glad he found an artist who can make the world as trippy as he wants it to be. It doesn’t hurt that apart from one or two nods, it ignores everything else going on in DC right now.
It’s so weird that Morrison decided to incorporate DClock into his book (a book that literally no other writers at DC even considered canon anymore) while ignoring everything else.
Well...he kind of did a shoutout to the Invisible Spectrum in the annual. Honestly I think like the rest of us, Morrison thought DoomCock as going to be bigger deal sooner than it ended up being.
Yeah, Sharp is really good with huge one page only spreads and closeups. The latest annual feels lacking with out his art.
When did he incorporate Doomsday Clock? I've been reading the Morrison run on GL each time anons post an issue here but I don't remember Doomsday Clock stuff in it.
It’s literally just a one-page shot of his hydrogen symbol showing up in the Book of Oa while the Guardians ramble about time anomalies. That’s it.
It was showed that Manhattan tampered with the book of Oa.
>Well...he kind of did a shoutout to the Invisible Spectrum in the annual.
More like he completely shit on it by making every wavelength other than infrared and ultraviolet into GL. Snyder’s OCs are cheap knockoffs of actual interesting concepts.
I thank so as well. Before the continuous delays and shit writing the hype just fizzled out by the time Bendis’ Supes and King’s HiC came rolling in. Then it’s just complete silent from then on.
Certainly not the best book Morison ever writen but it's still the best book DC now has to offer.
When does the annual take place? Waiting to binge it
>How does it compares to his earlier works?
Compared to his popular works? Pretty weak.
Nowhere as near as near as his worst one though, the lowest remain Joe the barbarian for me.
It is good, which compared to the current state of DC looks like a fucking masterpiece.
It's crap, nobody likes it and is selling mediocrily and all because of his name.
Ewing and Hickman are what modern Grant Morrison would be if he wasn't a hack.
I thought Barry is Hal's best friend.
>the current state of DC
People liked the Rebirth stuff
Rebirth was two years ago and it was still shit, just not as rancid as it is now.
Too bad the next issue will be the last one.
>Rebirth was still shit
t. Marvelfag
Rebirth was shit.
>anyone who doesn't have my shit taste is a marvelfag
Retard.
until the second series
Barry and Hal are good friends but they haven't had as many experiences together as Hal and Ollie. Those two have seen each other at their best and worst and everything in between
We are only at issue #9 we still got 3 issues left for season 1 of the run.
Who is that babe in a hood?
Yeah they did. Until DClock got its first (in a series of many) delay, Bendis jumped in and King ruined everything with HiC.
Tangent comics Green Lantern.
Not everyone who hates what DC is putting out is a Marveldrone, dude. HiC and Snyder’s JL finally made me hate every mainline books other than GL and Hawkman.
>Hawkman
Is it good?
Not him but while it didn't hold my interest, I don't remember anything /truly/ awfulbad about Hawkman which puts it above a lot of current DC output right now.
It’s pretty fine. The idea of incorporating every incarnations of Hawkman is a good idea. Too bad it recently got tied up with Snyder’s god awful event year of faggots.
I fucking love Shadow Thief and his new costume sucks ass.
Who’s the one with the mohawk?
What is this and why does it look so cool
>season 1
In all honesty, I really like the idea of comics having "seasons". In theory, they lend themselves well to it due to being monthly. 12 issues plus annual, if written episodically, is a nice clean structure.
Shame editorial is obsessed with tradewriting.
>design books to only work in trade format, thus making floppies worthless
>bitch about nobody buying floppies and how only trades sell
Fuckin retards.
Id prefer having a longer story not limited to 12 issues. I think a big reason why Geoffs GL got popular was because of all the build up for blackest night.
The Tangent universe is where all characters share the same name as the ones in the mainstream DCU but with huge differences.
>The Flash is a girl who can use light powers
>The Doom Patrol is a team sent from the future to warn the past of the coming apocalypse
>Superman is a hyper evolved human ruling over the Earth
>The Green Lantern is a girl that can talk to the dead using said lantern
>Blackest Night
Yeah no. Johns got popular due to him following a strict shonen-style of storytelling, making people more and more hype for the next threat. Sinestro Corp Wars was the peak of his run for me, and it just all burned out by the time Blackest Night and the god awful Brightest Day came by.
From the start Morrison has intended to make this run like a police procedural with infinite budget.
Still curious to what he meant by changing the title name in the next “season”. Will it be about another lantern other than Hal?
>shonen-style of storytelling
What's Morrison take on GL called?
>season 1
What's the over/under on "season 2" being released within the next 5 years? Ever being released at all?
>Will it be about another lantern other than Hal?
Hope not. I really dig what he did with Hal, making him a somewhat expy of Kerouac.
Id say the run was good until Brightest Day. I think people liked how long to took to set up Blackest Night.
I also dont think its that shonen but maybe if you explained it to me it would make sense.
I mean it has all the tropes
>Powers with animal shapes
>The protagonist (hal) constantly tries to make his evil friend good (sinister)
>The power levels make no sense and consist of throwing colored rays
>One of the enemies is literally "the dark" (necron)
>more than 200 issues
>they shout their powers (the lanterns anthem)
>in the end they overcome with the power of friendship
>The protagonist's crush is her childhood friend
>"We will always be friends, hal"
>climax with the hero finding the will to summon never before seen power to defeat the impossibly powerful villain
Pretty much this youtube.com
It’s called whatever Morrison found that he thought was cool the day he wrote it.
He said in the solicits of this that season 2 will skip a month with a new title.
>THE GREEN LANTERN #12
>written by GRANT MORRISON
>art and cover by LIAM SHARP
>variant cover by RILEY ROSSMO
>The Green Lanterns will fall! Insidious plans meticulously set in motion since issue #1 have reached their boiling point. As defeat looms for the Corps, Hal Jordan’s showdown with his monstrous antimatter counterpart sets the stage for the final pages of this issue—and the moment that will echo throughout the entire DC Universe! How bad is it for Hal and the Corps? There’s no GREEN LANTERN #13 next month…but writer Grant Morrison is crafting the next chapter of this story, and it’s coming soon! Only there’s no “Green Lantern” in the title. After the events of this issue, how could there be?
Where does it say skip a month?
I find it to be a big convoluted mess. Which is odd because I love Grant Morrison, I really enjoyed his JLA and Doom Patrol run but for some reason GL just ain't it chief.
I found GL very straightforward tho, unlike Doom Patrol.
How is Doom patrol not straightforward?
>I find it to be a big convoluted mess
This is actually one of his more simple stories, it’s nowh near the level of “wtf am I reading” of Nameless, The Filth, Flex Mentallo or even Willworld.
Some issues of DP were kind of confusing cult of the unwritten book but for the most of the run it was fine.
He had nothing to do with Willworld
It doesn't help that I'm not that familiar with hal Jordan and I skipped a few issues I wish they would give Kyle Rayner a series written by Morrison
>Kyle Rayner a series written by Morrison
Kyle is one of the main focuses of Morrison's JLA. He's even the centerpiece of the Gaiman Sandman vs Starro arc.
What happened to Fisher?
Morrison tackled Kyle in JLA and it was awesome. No one but fanboys like Hal, he's the second most boring character in comics after Barry but MUH CHILDHOOD FAVORITES fanboys editors run the industry now so neither are ever leaving. Morrison does what he can.
Yes I'm . Kyle was one of the best characters in morrisons jla
He got drunk and fell off a rooftop bar in Japan and died.
I knew that, I’m just making some comparison between his run and the most confusing GL book I know of. And that book is Willworld.
His appearance in Moz’s JLA was really good, way better than the solo book he had at the time.
>No one but fanboys like Hal
I'm not a fanboy and I like Hal. When characterized properly, I find the idea of a flyboy manchild hero very endearing.
Died exactly when he finished celebrating his F4 mini because we just can’t have nice things.
Hal being a hotshot but dumb at times cop is what made me like him. Morrison’s development of him into a still goofy but now much more season veteran feels like a very natural progression.
So GL is the best comic to suggest to manga readers
Didnt Neil Gaimen say his favorite super hero was Hal Jordan
GL isn't convoluted or confusing in the slightest, I always wonder if the "its so confusing what drugs is Morrison on?" haven't read it or if they just have no reading comprehension
He already wrote Kyle, plus Hal is more interesting.
EPIN MORRISON DRUGS people need to be shot. He hasn't done drugs in two decades. Some people are actually creative as difficult as that is to believe.
Forget Kyle imagine what Morrison would do with Guy or Stewart. May he could make Stewart returns to his Mosaic days of not being as boring as a cinder block.
>the story is confusing because I skipped issues!
retarded frogposter
Hal is more interesting, sorry
It is pretty bad.
The absolute illiteracy of comic book readers. These comics aren't that dense - you're just stupid.
No one knows?
Nowhere near his best work. I liked the issues like the one where he arrests God or when he teams up with GA, but the overarching story isn't interesting.
It's tryhard silver age-wank trash, Johns GL is way better
