ITT, character design elements you love/ones you hate
For example, I like this kind of mask...the ones with the little pointy dealies at the ends, like Hawkeye or Wolverine's. I dunno if there's a term for this kinda mask, but it's cool (are they a kind of domino mask?) On that note...plain old domino masks are also pretty great.
I love it when themes and realism blend really well. Like for example MCU Ant Man's costume is fantastic. It looks like a futuristic suit but also retains a bit of "buggy" design elements. It's not tacticool, because those designs tend to abandon a lot of fun features.
I’m a sucker for flowy Arabian-nights style designs with sheer fabric, thigh high boots, and monochromatic color schemes. I hate “practical” superhero redesigns that are just glorified street clothes. The whole point of a costume is to be theatrical and showy.
Blake Morris
>I did it once for dramatic effect and it just kinda became habit.
Henry Rodriguez
>I hate “practical” superhero redesigns that are just glorified street clothes.
Luke Cage annoys me because of this. ...honestly, I can't even think of a good costume that would suit him, but that just makes it more annoying
Grayson Johnson
I know it's basic, but how do you feel about Luke's Thunderbolts' outfit?
>Classic character has a goofy spandex outfit >Remake/modern version is just a more tactical/armored/souped up version of the spandex suit and is immediately recognizable despite the upgrades
Bonus points if the cape is asymmetrical for a good reason, like gripping the edge or it has tools hidden on that side
Ryan Hughes
Remember when Captain Marv- I mean Shazam!!!!, had one. Those were the days.
Isaiah Bell
Asymmetrical capes look good on anything. Ezio's was badass
Jason Hill
Animal heads. Yeah, call me a furry all ya want it's true though, but I feel like animal headed characters are extremely rare and really neat. Like the goat guy in that one batman comic where they faked Robin's death was SO FUCKING UNDERUSED. Fuck, the main antagonist was just a guy in a GOAT MASK and the GUY WITH THE LITERAL HEAD OF A GOAT is just killed off in the first few pages. FUCKING FUCK GOD DAMN IT WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE WELL DESIGNED VILLAINS JUST TO OFF THEM AND NEVER BRING THEM UP AGAIN?
