These are Female Turtles. They get hated a lot by the fans of TMNT. Especially Venus even though April was worse in TMNT 2012.

Not a TMNT but curious. Why are they hated?
>he hates April in 2012
Fuck off with your shitty ass bait thread OP
This is Miranda from Wakfu and she also gets loads of hatred. Any questions?
April was a disgusting Mary Sue pile of Super Human Powers Shit. Fuck you.
I'd argue that Venus di Milo really just absorbed all the hatred that was directed at the show she was in. The Next Mutation was fucking terrible, but in terms of effects and in terms of writing, and her introduction was so focused on in that show that even if she had been well written (she wasn't) then she probably still would've suffered a lot of backlash. Because Next Mutation is just god awful in every respect.
Part of the reaction to Jennika is likely due to this. The sole prior attempt to make an actual female turtle was an unmitigated disaster. But it doesn't help that Jennika doesn't fit in thematically with the rest of the characters, doesn't have the best design (neon yellow on a ninja), and was found out to be a DeviantART OC from one of the current staff's old dA page. That shit always provokes backlash.
It really is amazing how the artist made Jennika's design actually see feminine without resorting to slapping tits onto her. Shame the actual comic cant do that, doesn't seem hard to do either.
That Venus is also cute.
Completely pointless 5th Turtles whose creators don't understand the whole point and themes of being a Ninja Turtle.
wasn't there some female lizard already. Mona Lisa?
A 5th ninja turtle will always be shit regardless of gender.
Are we doing this? Because I'm going to be blunt here Michelangelo is the most worthless of the turtles. He has the weakest weapon and I don't know about the rest of you but I always can't help but see Michelangelo as being the most obnoxious annoying pile of garbage ever created. He was annoying in 2003 (especially arrogantly boasting about that tournament he won because SPLINTER LET HIM WIN for many episodes after), he was annoying in 2012 and in the live action films by MIchael Bay he was very obnoxious all the same with his farting or making off putting flirting comments with Megan Fox. To me Michelangelo has never been funny, just a big nuisance who has the worst weapons of the franchise. And no when you're fighting literal sci fi advanced robots and aliens using nunchuks is very dumb. Even Donnie at least defends himself with his intellect. Mikey? He's a retard. He's a dumbass with a bad weak weapon that most people would never choose over swords which are more effective.
>It really is amazing how the artist made Jennika's design actually see feminine without resorting to slapping tits onto her. Shame the actual comic cant do that, doesn't seem hard to do either.
That was on purpose because the artist who designed her is a trans "woman".
I'd be open to the TMNT being a group of 6 turtles. Two of them being female. I mean Raven and Starfire in Teen Titans are beloved. Why can't there be two female turtles in the group? And it's not like they run out of personalities because MLP has 6 females and they all have distinct personalities....okay 5 Apple Jack is boring.
It's not just that, but in general femininity is not allowed these days at all whatsoever. It's no coincidence that feminine traits are being erased from female characters. About the only trait female characters have are the negative ones like Mabel (Gravity Falls) or Star (Star Vs) and yet the writing WILL insist that they be celebrated as good women. No different from how in Pixar's Brave Merida is a cunt, but she has to have her way and nothing will stop her in getting her undeserved happy ending.
You're talking about deconstructing the core characters of the franchise and reconstructing them as something else entirely. Which is fine, but call it something else at that point.
>Not a TMNT
You have to be a ninja turtle to understand
Like a spin off you mean the same way Marvel invented Spiderman Unlimited?
Campbell's "thing" since he started during the Northampton arc was to design female characters that look like men. His design for Koya is pretty much that (and it was the same arc where he redesigned April to have a butch hair cut).
And don't forget Natsu, another Campbell design. We're supposed to accept that the transgender artist at IDW is only COINCIDENTALLY drawing all these masculine-looking females that could pass as trans and that the trend continuing into the mutant Jennika design is coincidental. That's the narrative, anyway.
Don't worry. Sales for IDW TMNT are already down in general. But with the announcement of Campbell taking over the writing reins after issue 100? Yeah say goodbye to this comic series. This man will get it cancelled. Of that I'm sure. No way that sales will improve with that obviously terrible writer in charge. The only SJW thing that has found absolute success is Undertale and everything else fails. This will be no different.
Shame, I don't mind a Girl Turtle, but they hired the worst person for the job.
I don't care how you go about it. If you're going to add ninja turtles just rebuild everyone from scratch and give it a different name.
This is true, Alopex's fluffy design was a complete fluke.
Venus is hated, largely, because an argument over whether or not to put her in the book is why Laird and Eastman stopped working together.
The book is getting better than usual sales right now, but mostly because IDW promoted #95 heavily as being a collector's issue for speculators to buy as an investment. The improved sales will likely continue into #100, because sales always spike at milestone issues. But yeah, after #100 it'll decline again pretty rapidly. IDW in general is in bad shape; TMNT was the one license that hadn't royally fucked up with their ideologies until now. Oh well.
Using Brave as an example doesn't work when Merida has plenty of feminine traits in her body if you catch my cold
Speaking of Jennika does anyone have that Eastman Drawn cover image of her? It's the only time Human Jennika looks decent and kind of feminine.
Scrappy Doo effect.
I'm talking about her horrible unlikable cunt personality where she poisons her mother to get her way.
This user put it succinctly: Fans don't hate the idea of other mutant turtles, even ones in bandanas, running around the comics and shows and stuff. Slash is very, very popular. Tokka has his fans. Metalhead has been making comebacks and is well received (robot turtle, but still).
The problem with Venus and mutant Jennika isn't that they're mutant turtles, it's that they're Fifth Turtles. They're being forced into the established TMNT dynamic as new members of the team. It's that Scrappy-Doo or Cousin Oliver scenario (or "Poochie" if you want to meme it) that never goes over well. If Venus or mutant Jennika were treated more like Slash, Tokka or Metalhead; recurring characters who show up sometimes but are off doing their own thing most of the time (or chilling in a closet, as is Metalhead's case) then nobody would care.
But as new fulltime cast members, Fifth Turtles, stapled onto the existing group? That's a hard sell.
excuse me? all if anything she was an useless piece of shit, i don't remember her doing anything other than fucking donnie she trained to be a kunioichi and then did nothing with it, she got alien powers and shit that barely worked, also she couldn't stop his dad from being mutated twice
Well we still have Sonic....
But yeah IDW TMNT is in bad shape. I don't like how they ruined Bishop because now he's this midget, Krang is dead, Leatherhead keeps talking about curing mutations but he does NOTHING except waste time, Null hasn't been given an actual arc at all, Stockman is honest to god BORING, etc.
The only subplot I like is Hob and the Mutanimals. And the problem is when you have a majority of boring stories on a monthly release? Easy to lose interest.
What's hurting them is that all of those stories could be interesting if the arcs were consolidated. Baxter running for mayor, Ch'Rell taking over the Utroms on Burnow Island, Whatever the FUCK Null is supposed to be up to, the Pantheon shennannygoats, etc.
But Waltz and Curnow want to juggle all those arcs at the same time and divvy them out in slight increments so they go on forever and ever and ever. Null has been around for like 4 or 5 years and STILL hasn't done jack shit beyond existing. Maybe if they focused all out on an arc, let it have impact, then moved onto a new arc and then after a while circled back around to a sequel to one of the earlier arcs... the book would feel less lethargic?
Alternatively, a series that’s been running for some time has added characters as the story has progressed. You’re stupid idea would dictate that teams like the X-Men or Teen Titans should call themselves something different the moment they add new team members.
Yes and the sloppiness is notable. Remember how the Triceraton Invasion ended? In the next arc we were STILL dealing with the Triceraton Invasion even though their arc was complete. As a result Rat King's arc essentially had Rat King not exist for the majority of it. Not to mention that the Rat King's scheme was....dumb.
>Teen Titans
Fun fact about Teen Titans. People are familiar with the modern cartoon version which is inspired by New Teen Titans Comics. However, the first time the Teen Titans was founded? Characters like Raven and Starfire weren't around. In fact there was only ONE girl (Wonder Girl). Raven and Starfire were entirely new female characters added to the group.
Kingdom of Rats could have worked if they'd promoted it as an exploration of the Pantheon members we hadn't gotten to know yet, but they didn't, and so we got an arc titled after the Rat King that had him in it for 1 1/2 issues with a grand scheme that involved throwing kids off a bridge for the lulls. That took, what, 4 or 5 issues?
That's also a problem. It's been obvious since #50 that Waltz and Curnow have been stretching arcs out because they want to save big moments for the divisible-by-25 numbered issues. So everything in between tends to be an inconsequential, boring, decompressed slog.
>Nunchaku
>Worthless
Oh my God, get a load of this moron
>Fighting robots with nunchuks is bad
Fighting robots with swords, particularly with very brittle edged ones like katanas is absolutely fucking retarded. You'd be holding shattered trash two or three hits in. The good order there is nunchaku>sai>bo>foot>fist>glass of water>turtle piss>sword. Because Nunchaku in skilled hands generate more force per square inch than any of the other turtle weapons by a huge margin, except possible a particularly forceful Sai stab.
>Mike isn't funny
He is. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean other people don't, and your individual opinion is meaningless. I think Will Ferrell is less funny than crib death, but lots of people laugh so he's funny whether I like him or not.
So basically you're a humorless idiot, making your opinion and you as a turtle fan the worst.
Raph is the worst turtle because his personality is the most recycled possible in any team show/comic/movie. Take just about any red wearing team member from anything ever and swap them in and you'd never even notice the difference.
>enter thread
>see that a lot of posts were deleted
let me guess, somebody hurt janny's feelings again.
Why the fuck is Mikey a loli?
No, it's this one guy who goes into Jennika threads and bumps them with bait posts and then deletes his posts right afterward.
He's the earnest kid of the group, even going back to the Mirage days.
But he’s not a shota normally. It’s weird to make him a loli for no reason
Not to mention their names throw off the entire thematic nature of the brothers.
This happened in the comics
No one cared
this too
I cared, but it's not like Horridus will ever somehow become a Turtles character, so its a ship that can never truly sail
>this too
That one was actually a joke at the expense of the idea of a female 5th turtle. Surely you read the comic and understood the context?
Is that a mutant Dorito?
Am I the only one who does NOT mind female turtles having breasts? They're anthros meaning human like. It's expected.
They're reptiles, only mammals have tits
Mutant Reptiles who are partly human. If they can have teeth and pectoral muscles why not boobs on a female?
>They're reptiles, only mammals have tits
Most reptiles don't walk upright and speak the language of the mammals that have tits.
That's a shapeshifter, it's cheating.
They're never that human, they just become bipeds and gain vaguely human traits, they're about as "half-human" as many furries that are just animals with humanoid stances
These are the only turtles that matter.
Getting a little human DNA doesn't automatically mean they get tits you frosted balloon
Not only that, but didn't Raphael travel to a snowy area with Angel and he wasn't wearing anything? A reptile can't endure the cold, they cannot produce body heat.
Doesn't mean they're warm-blooded, loads of the comics and cartoons had them avoid things like heat-seeking missiles because of their cold blood. That was either the artist forgetting Raph's cold-blooded, or just trying to make him look cool by withstanding freezing temps, or they were lazy and didn't want to draw him in a cloak.
The tmnt have been a team of 4 from their inception and their dynamic as siblings has been so perfectly defined that even a young child can tell you which brother would do what. Writing in a 5th or any additional turtles would be impossible to do without first breaking apart the fundamental traits of the original four. Every new ninja turtle anyone comes up with will be forgettable or despised because they'll either act like one of the 4 that already exist, or stand out like a sore thumb. I side with Laird on the matter, that you might as well make the turtles an alien race of their own at that point so you can add as many as you want, because where does anyone draw the line.
Or at least making the 5th be there from the start instead of slapped into the party so late into the game. Though I suppose if they did something like the brothers "adopting" a new sibling could also work, but then it would need to showcase how the brothers handle acting like older siblings to a younger one, and how each one deals with it. Mikey's probably the one who gets along best, but encourages some negative behavior, while Leo maybe tries to be too strict, and etc. etc.
As it is, every time they've tried adding a 5th, it's just 'Here's a new turtle" and don't do anything to really integrate them into the dynamic.
Except, Scrappy was an incredibly popular character during his debut. People didn't start hating him, until the entire franchise started revolving around him, cutting Fred, Daphne, and Velma in the process.
Venus was hated right out of the gate for being a shitty character in a shitty show.
Jennika is hated for being yet another attempt at a new member of the gang and for being a actual Deviant Art OC.
Another reason Jennika is being hated on is she's a human turned turtle. She also doesn't mix in well because the turtles don't kill in this continuity and Jennika has spent most of her life murdering people. And with Campbell at the helm? He is going to do to Jennika the same thing he did to Alopex. The mutation will be a "rebirth" of the character and she will gain a whole new personality.
Remember how Alopex was a murderer because she was Shredder's personal assassin? Now she's a valley girl who has never killed anyone.
You know, this would honestly be great.
Have a new Turtle appear with the same kind of origin (not a human that becomes a Turtle, but an actual turtle), have it be a brand new mutate that, when they find it, has barely even developed the power of speech. Explore how it develops as this new Turtle grows and learns from the brothers.
That might actually be fucking adorable actually.
>Leo the over protective big brother
>Mikey, the one she plays video games with and can joke with
>Raph might be the jealous type of older sibling? "Why does she get everything so easy when we had to fight for it?"
>I'm trying to think how her relationship with Donnie would develop...maybe it wouldn't? Maybe he's a more distant sibling because he and the new kid don't share much in common?
based
Eh, people didn't even hate him that much then. The bulk of the hate stems from James Gunn's weird autism towards the character, as seen with the script he wrote for the first live-action film where he made Scrappy into a little piece of shit who disrespected everyone in the gang and was rightfully exiled from the group for his out of character behavior. Ever since, the hatred has just been memed by idiots when really, Scrappy is what saved the franchise from going extinct like 99% of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons. It's only been in the last decade or so that people are lightening up a bit and realizing Scrappy really isn't all that bad, though who knows if he'll ever get a positive role again.
I could Donnie being a bit distant but not entirely on purpose. More like he just gets absorbed into his work to the point of ignoring the newbie, but then realizes how he's also cutting out his own brothers thoughtlessly. Then maybe tries to be even more protective than Leo by creating all kinds of safe-guards, exasperating Raph's frustration at how easy the new kid's having things and not learning that some things in life are hard.
Probably because it's really fucking difficult to wedge a new personality into a dynamic of characters that already cover such a wide range. There's already a turtle that fits into generally every situation. They've been around in the same basic form for so long, that if you think of a trait, there's already a turtle to which it's been designated. I'm not agianst making a bigger group of ninja turtles, but I can't think of a single way it would work organically without changing up the original four. It definitely won't have staying power without starting from scratch.
That's why I said either have them start out with a fifth sibling in their origin, or they adopt a new one and have to help mold him/her into becoming their own character while the four clash like suggested. The problems with Venus and OCDonutika are that they just get dropped into the laps of the turtles and that's that.
Why does this bother you so much? I have a thing for fat asses so if I could draw worth a shit and landed a job at IDW you better believe everyone would be rockin' the booty. Would you complain then?
What does that image have to do with fat-bottomed girls? That's a chick with a dude body being called a girl.
Isn't that orange thing from Xmen?
Problem with this designs is always that they look more like Frogs that turtles.
Savage Dragon
Why?
It would take incredibly skilled writing to shear off exactly the right traits from the established four, and then apply it to a character in a way that makes it a memorable and unique sibling. It sounds good in theory sure, but it sounds like a huge narrative undertaking.
>and was found out to be a DeviantART OC from one of the current staff's old dA page. That shit always provokes backlash.
Part of the problem is this aspect simply isn't true. But some Trumptard Turtle fan on Twitter started a minor shit and this spread. (That Trumptard shit isn't to stir the part, the moronic fuck makes those sad parody comics with a Trump bunny or My Hero Academia or whatever.) The character designer (Not creator.) is trans, and his needy little ass couldn't handle that she was working on Turtles and he wasn't. Or something. (The due bragged about assisting with two variant covers or something like it was worth a shit.)
Because this thread was meant to both post anthro girls from media and discuss a bit of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Seems the thread went WAY into the latter.
Are you a fucking shut in who gets all his contact with FEMALES from Instagram model pages and porn?
>Yea Forums doesn't give a shit about IDW TMNT for months
>Female Turtle happens
>Most of the threads are about said shitty female turtle
Oh boy.
Doesn't mean they can't get them either
People tend to forget that Venus had a name that had nothing to do with art too, it was some chinese moontalk.
Wonder if the IDW are ever going to use Venus.
She looks like shit
>>Yea Forums doesn't give a shit about IDW TMNT for months
Part of that is probably due to the fact that the franchise isn't being managed well.
The main book has been going downhill since the farm arc and it does the one of the most annoying thing a comic book can do and asks you to read a half dozen tie ins to get the full story. I almost forgot Shredder in Hell existed.
Yet at the same time they keep going "Jennika! You guys love her right?" as if we should remember her in this clusterfuck.
I never particularly gave a shit but if you're going to do the opposite then the design should have more traditional feminine traits like sexual dimorphism and larger eyes with eyelashes and the like. Give the character accessories or an outfit that makes them visually stand out as women. Campbell should be spoken to or a new artist should be thrown in on this. Dude can't into chicks.
>read a half dozen tie ins to get the full story
This. It's also already happening to Sonic IDW. And I hate this because I don't care about Tangle and Whisper the two new FORCED OC Waifus.
>Yet at the same time they keep going "Jennika! You guys love her right?" as if we should remember her in this clusterfuck.
Not even porn artists have drawn not even one Rule 34 Jennika image. And you know furries they usually jump into this sort of stuff.
I honestly think that this Jennika Turtle affair is going to backfire to the point that Venus is yet again going to be discarded for more years to come. They already screwed the pooch by having it be a human pretending to be a turtle. Even if there are no cures for mutations in IDW TMNT, it's still a human at the core. The bigger concern however is they hired Campbell to further write and further flesh this idea out starting with issue number 101. It's going to be real bad because this guy is an artist and NOT a writer.
The artist who drew the recent issue...I think he sort of did a acceptable job to give Turtle Jennika a more slightly feminine face. But she could stand to look more feminine because going by art like this? Jennika can easily pass off as the other guy turtles. She just blends right in as one of the fellas.
.
>The main book has been going downhill since the farm
Didn't Sophie write the farm arc? I know she just announced she was going to take over the comic starting with #101 which I can already see her giving a lot of focus on Jennika who really was a literal who to most of the fandom before the mutation was announced.
So what did you guys think of issue 96?
>All these deleted posts
But why?
When you get banned i believe all of your recent posts also get deleted
Anyone have this version of Raph holding a teddybear?
Reading it now.
It's about what I expected.
She never wrote an issue of the main book.
The fuck? The main book has been fine since Shredder was killed. Around Darius Dunn was the only lull.
It's also required you to read the tie ins since the first Micro. The literal first tie in introduced plot important characters.
>The fuck? The main book has been fine since Shredder was killed. Around Darius Dunn was the only lull.
I respectfully disagree.
>It's also required you to read the tie ins since the first Micro. The literal first tie in introduced plot important characters.
And? Them enacting the practice for a long time doesn't make the practice in of itself a good thing.
they're also 6' and mutated into developing human-like traits
>Shooting Karai in crowd of people.
Honestly, What is the point about her concern for honor ?
Did you think Karai evildoing will just easily forgive because she is female and being mind-controlled by corrupt katana.
Venus was corporate-approved grrl power in the mold of Lola bunny - tough and ready to remind you not to underestimate her for being a girl, with vague furry sex appeal and not much to like past that. The long-lost sister angle was awkward as fuck, but the bigger problem was that she was the face of a new direction that had the turtles fighting magic sentai dragon men. She had been raised to know ninja magic the boys were ignorant of, so a big part of the character was her talking to the boys stressing how ignorant they were for not knowing about magic shit. If the toon had just introduced a long lost sister turtle in the last season I doubt she would have been popular, but it was the other baggage in the faux-sentai show that made her despised.
Jennika on the other hand grew naturally out ofan ongoing story. She's an update of an oooold story: Shredder swept in and snapped up troubled youngsters to make them his soldiers. IDW TMNT from the start put an unusual focus on Splinter being raised in the Foot. Jennika being mutated wasn't too huge a shock, but making her a turtle, and focusing on her relationship with Splinter and the blurring of the lines between the Hamato and Foot clans. It's a neat addition to a story that's been going on in various versions for decades, building on ideas there from the first issue of Mirage, which put such emphasis on an intra-clan feud and how it carried over generation after generation.
Stop calling this bastard a woman. He is a MAN. His name is Ross Campbell. Stop enabling this mentally defective man.
>Venus was corporate-approved grrl power in the mold of Lola bunny - tough and ready to remind you not to underestimate her for being a girl, with vague furry sex appeal and not much to like past that
In a series about fighting and action Venus fits a hell of a lot more than Lola Bunny where the idea of Gurl Powah stereotype was necessary to help the Looney Tunes beat aliens in a basketball game is just nonsense. In fact a real sports athlete was also not necessary to beat the Monstars.
And I know what you're going to say, but she's a girl she's not tough. She's a mutant. Non-Humans by default are tougher than humans while having essentially the mentality of one. I mean I don't anyone here wants to tangle with say a Mountain Lion like how Sally Pride is. Those things will maul you to death unless you already come in with weapons from the get go.
Jennika is still rather boring and looks like a man. To me that's lousy for a Female Character. I mean she manages to look more feminine as a turtle wrap your head around that. But as her true self? It looks like Casey is dating a man.
>Jennika on the other hand grew naturally out ofan ongoing story.
I dunno if I agree. This most recent issue they speak of her as if she's family but it's been a working relationship at best. I mean shit, her first action is trying to kill Splinter. By that logic Karai is just as much family.
It reads as forced to me.
It is forced. It was also forced with Casey early on during the Raph Micro Issue. But people are willing to accept calling Casey and April family because they're long standing characters in the franchise and regardless of continuity their roles are sort of familiar even when they get de-aged into being teenagers. Jennika is straight up new. So she really comes across as forced.
so what you're saying
is that they should've given april turtle tits
>If I draw all my female characters as ultramasculine maybe I'll look feminine by comparison
>Completely pointless 5th Turtles whose creators don't understand the whole point and themes of being a Ninja Turtle.
Pull out the first issue of Mirage's TMNT.
Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Nagi were two rivals in the Foot Clan that competed for EVERYTHING. Including a competition for the love of Tang Shen. Yoshi won her heart, Nagi, bitter and enraged that he'd lost the most important competition with his rival, attacked her.
Hamato Yoshi killed Oroku Nagi.
Oroku Nagi's young brother, Oroku Saki, the Shredder, tracked down and killed Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen.
Hamato Yoshi's pet rat escaped in the battle, got mutated and trained 4 weirdass turtles, who killed Oroku Saki.
And with time the rest of the Foot Clan tried to kill Splinter and the boys.
One of the BIGGEST themes of TMNT is and always has been an intra-clan feud that just keeps getting bigger and bigger and more and more absurd.
I would argue that Jennika fits in perfectly with that theme. A Foot soldier that became devoted to Splinter, was nearly killed by a rival faction, and ended up becoming even more a part of Clan Hamato, right down to the freakishness.
She tried to kill Splinter years ago. Literally years. She's been promoted and included since then. I agree that Waltz should have done a better job showing her warm up to the turtles and vice versa. But there was an effort and she gets along with Leo as intended.
Waltz isn't great with emotional connections, sadly. Luckily some of the other writers pick up the slack in Universe. I wouldn't have wanted Waltz doing the confrontation between Splinter and Mikey over the orphans. Ian Flynn handled it way better than I think Waltz would have. When eternal nice-guy Mikey finally snapped and told his dad how betrayed he felt, it packed a punch.
Reptiles also don't have bipedalism, limbic brains, neocortexes or opposable thumbs.
They're far more human than reptile.
I think Waltz is fine, but he's writing a book with like six active plots and maybe 40 characters. Things will slip. It's the nature of a book like this. Always has been, from Legion through X-Men, Transformers and GI Joe.
The tie in writers have the luxury of a much smaller focus for their bit of plot to get out. Flynn did absolutely nail all the little nuance's of Mikey long time fans know are there, but get rarely brought up.
Krisa and Zodi pretty much established that non-mammal mutants will be flat as boards. The time to cry foul was long ago.
April's such a non-threat in this iteration she was scared of Baxter "giant fucking nerd" Stockman when he was armed with A STAPLER.
Not even a sci-fi stapler. She specifically cornered him where she thought he didn't have any of his shit, and he proceeded to threaten the hell out of her while she went "I may have miscalculated..."
IDW April is smart, brave, and a total liability in a fight.
It's vastly more cartoony than the actual comic, you ninny.
>defending worst version of a character
Jesus you have a shit taste
The boys aren't given pec muscles (by... most artists? I guess there might be someone), it's just a lucky coincidence that the plastron of a turtle shell looks sorta like pecs. Since the shell is fused to the body, it wouldn't make sense for a "girl turtle" to have breasts - they would be covered by the shell, with no way for any milk to get out. A turtle shell is fused to the body.
How come the turtles in this franchise don't have that many digits on their hands/feet? Also if Alopex can keep her tail, why don't the turtles have tails either?
they aren't turtle, they are HUMANOID turtles.
Also shell shape is different for male and female turtles, and the females have wider bottoms so stop the nonsense about "they can't look feminine" you fucking uneducated clown.
Loss of tails and a different number of digits doesn't really affect much. Breast tissue that's trapped and useless under armor is just silliness, and IDW turtles prides itself on being a more serious take, for better or worse.
>you're saying they can't look feminine
I think they can, and hopefully other artists will do a better job of that with Jennika. But it's extremely in-keeping with how the IDW books have handled themselves that turtle-breasts got a flat no (pun intended).
I kind of thought their feet were meant to resemble tabi shoes as a stylistic choice.
2012 April's vague psychic danger sense let her be useful to the gang without stepping on Donnie's toes like scientist April or being a constant damsel in distress like reporter April (not that 2012 didn't end up in trouble a lot, just waaaaaay less. 86 April was stupid enough to step on a teleporter while going "gosh this looks dangerous!")
Worst version of April was latter-day Mirage. Early Mirage was great. Then she became a superhero. And it turned out she was a drawing brought to life. 2007 was nearly as bad. Meant to be the April from the original movies, but suddenly she's a ninja and archaeologist. At least 2012 threw in some psychic mutant bullshit to explain why she picked up martial arts so fast. Image April was dogshit. Pure dogshit. Barely in the terrible book (she dodged a bullet) but the bit where she did show up she was the weepy "he loves me, that's why he insults me" wife of a heavier-drinking Casey-trying-to-work-at-Wall-Mart or some shit. And she was channeling her inner Peg Bundy (but some of that was just the shitty 90s art I guess).
2012 April is far from the worst version. They had a few decent ideas and fucked up the landing. But that's 2012 all over.
i don't like the idea of april somehow being special before meeting the guys, personally. Having a job is one thing, being a mutant psychic or a drawing is another.
>She tried to kill Splinter years ago. Literally years
How many years has it been in story?
>She's been promoted and included since then.
Show me,
Show me her bonding with clan Hamato in such a way that she's like family.
>drawing
And she fucked a cockroach. Right?
>terrible book
Foot Clan stuff, Raphael as Shredder and Leo losing his shit because there was no team left is pretty good.
>why don't the turtles have tails either?
Because they look like turds when drawn
married so not a virgin
>Didn't Sophie write the farm arc?
He (Sophie is a man, fyi) was just the artist and character designer. He didn't start cowriting until TMNT Universe. He'll take over as head writer with TMNT #101, replacing Waltz.
I literally said it could have been shown better you knob.
Going by Christmases, like 1-1 and a half.
>(Sophie is a man, fyi)
Oooh ow the rebel edge. Stick it to those libs. Yeah.
Yeah but there's a difference between bettar and "at all", Like, at best I can think she was invited to the clan christmas party but so was Casey.
I mean, Leo said he considered her family now for withstanding Kitsune's mind control and risking her life to save Splinter. We needed better "hanging out" shit, but that's been an overaching problem with the book - the boys damn near never hang out, not even with one another. Action book.
They've considered Casey family since the beginning.
Always liked Koya's design. Natsu's is pretty fucking fuckly, not going to pretend otherwise, but it has a lot more personality than a lot of the designs IDW has throw around. Fucking Nobody the bland power armor user.
Nobody's armor is great in Santaloucco's hands, but it doesm't have any defining features to really make it pop in a less detailed artists hands.
trouble is, it's hard to make april special enough that she should be hanging out with the guys. mirage's april got weirder and weirder as eastman and laird tried to figure out what to do with her after the initial stockman story. by the time it was over she was having marriage problems, and infertile, and a living drawing, and a superhero. whether she's a reporter or a scientist, the skillset she has when she meets up with the boys either isn't that useful or is useful in ways that donnie is already useful.
low level psychic powers at least made her something that could be useful and wasn't something the team already had access to.
so of course the writers fucked it up and didn't stop with "low level" powers.
Everyone focusing on the ugly she-male Natsu, nobody gonna point out Campbell's ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING redesign of Karai? Why do transgenders hate feminine beauty? Is it because it reminds them that they're not really women?
Jesus Christ
Got a question with the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is it possible for TMNT to have a cinematic universe?
That way we can see more villains that aren't Shredder. Another thing, would it be animated or not?
What, Bay isn't good enough for you?
I've been loving the IDW TMNT run so I see a few characters and groups I'd happily watch films based off of, but I just don't see a studio giving us a Mutanimal movie or an Angel and Alopex get up to some shit movie or the Neutrino's fight a brutal war movie or anything like that.
Yes I'd watch the hell out of it. Yes I think the material is easily there. No I don't see a studio ever doing anything with it.
I was implying she was Casey's plus one.
Well then you misread the intent behind that. Fully granted, again, Waltz needed to have done a better job showing her becoming closer to the whole of Clan Hamato, not just Casey and Leo. But I think it's a bit understandable given the cast of dozens nature of the book.
As an aside, just who is Clan Hamato right now? Just the brothers? Casey? April? Alopex, Angel, Lidja? What?
Eh, Casey connection, Leo connection, Splinter connection.
Wish Campbell 40% himself
Miranda gets loads of something from me, but it certainly isn't hatred.
Just curious, but how has Alopex been received overall? I seem to recall her being a side character, being female, frequently being off doing her own thing, and a lot of what I've seen has been positive. However, I'm not generally following TMNT so I'm curious what the fanbase's generally opinion of her is.
I gotta be honest either I missed her scenes with Leo or we're ascribing different levels of weight to them because I didn't really think of them having any kinda special bond.
Alopex is generally well received. I know there are some incarnations where people didn't care for her character's direction (which with the variety of TMNT material is something I think is just inevitable) but as a whole she seems fairly well liked.
Alopex was well received at first because furries wanted to stick it up her furry ass and she was an angsty bad girl.
Now that she's settled into being friends with people like Angel, they like her less.
Like I'm saying, it was Waltz's intend to progress her relationships with people to that point, but he didn't show it very well.
Was there even a point to try bringing politics to this thread?
You literally could've posted without calling some Asian dude a Trumptard- and isn't that an oxymoron, seeing as the only people to vote Trump are white people apparently -but you chose to anyway.
Either, I agree with I don't mind IDW's OCs, it's just they're trying to shove this one into the focus, and when you're in a medium where writers come and go and various character 'tones' with them, that doesn't seem a really safe combo.
mobile.twitter.com
I'm talking about this specific retarded fuck. I don't know if he's Asian. I don't care. His comics are sad and he's a moron.
can the guy spamming bumps and tranny-shitposting in all of these threads just like, stop?
there's clearly something weird going on with you given how weeks in, you're still bumping the threads over and over and then deleting your posts like nobody will notice. That's beyond casually trolling, that's "i have some major weird beef and this is my outlet" territory.
It's annoying.
They were very few, but he appreciated her, y'know, saving his dad's life.
I think part of the problem is with so many books and stories everyone thought someone else had expanded more on the relationships.
All said, Splinter likes her enough to make her his second-in-command, Leo likes that she minds their dad AND was reasonable enough to go behind his back on the triceratons mess, Mikey likes that she's the other person in charge of looking after the kids, and Casey is dating her. There was foundation to go the family route, especially since they'll feel partly responsible for her current state.
It should have been done better, but the brosd strokes WERE there.
We're at an annoying point where shitposters who only insist on 100% or 0% are claiming the imperfect writing means nothing at all was ever done with the character. Yes we can all agree that Jennika and her relationships needed better development, but by god there is clearly a groundwork here.
It's worth bringing up because it's hard not to notice that a guy 1. Big into turtles, 2. Big into Trump, and 3. Hsving a history of posting on/co/ threw a Twitter tantrum about how Jennika is Campbell's OC. Whivh is wrong but sounds an awful lot like stuff in these threads. The ball got rolling by a guy that did shitty factchecking, who also has political baggage to mske him upset at Campbell.
Anyone else find it odd that Turtle Jennika doesn't have any Rule 34 yet? Artists didn't take very long with Alopex.
TMNT just isn't super popular right now, Rise isn't all that popular and the bay movies both tanked catastrophically, surprise surprise.
Yeah TMNT is right now in a bad spot for Rule 34. And frankly I have no hope for that so called rumored reboot in 2020 (new movie).
Honestly Viacom thoughtlessly considered TMNT to be a series you can just constantly and lazily slap together whatever and that it would automatically make money just like Batman does. But what happened to TMNT is the same thing that happened to Ben 10, constant sequels spin offs, reboots, and even some live action productions rendered the property worthless. Okay not worthless, but you know it's been whored out to the point that audiences are bored with it and Viacom is so dumb they didn't notice people also got tired of Turtle Mania in the 90s with Coming out of their Shells being the last media for TMNT during that time before 2003's cartoon improved the standing of the property.
I have no hope for TMNT. I think sadly Viacom will continue to lazily whore it out and Rise of TMNT is utter trash.
Venus was the least of the second show's problems.
What were the other problems?
rise honestly seems like a more enjoyable show than 2012. The artstyle is leagues more appealing, and I think TMNT has been going long enough that changing the characters up a bit for one show isn't criminal, or anything.
Question for the few people who actually read IDW TMNT. What do you think of the whole Casey/Jennika coupling? Especially now with the mutation? Do you want Casey to still date her?
it's pretty apparent they're not going to be casually dating anymore, but I hope, in spite of the initial reaction, that they'll stay close friends.
Casey's probably too much of a meathead to let that happen, though.
Considering Hun's reaction to it i don't doubt that there's a chance he'll go against Casey and his friendship with turtles now, that's actually more interesting to me than Casey's reaction to Jennika because Hun is a good character.
Some lizards do surprisingly
Jennika will get gangbanged and trained by the turts
I know people were pretty harsh on his initial reaction. Personally I think he handled it as well as can be expected.
well why would a bird have tits or hips?
this is just a butch girl, i fucked one yesterday. and shes next to a femme.
you not go outside or something?
Casey and April is always endgame, but IDW did a good job of underlying their differences and why that could logically not work. So finding a way to bring them back together will be... interesting.
Having Jennika as Casey's rebound makes sense. They worked and were a bit cute. I feel really bad for her here. Casey will try to be adult, but he is Casey Jones at the end of the day. He's going to hurt her a few times even when he doesn't mean to. It makes me wonder if there's a plan for her an Leo, rather than Leo's normal weird flirtation with Karai. I'm not sure they'll do a long redemption arc for her, though I wish they do.
I'm more interested in Hobb's reaction. He loathes humans turned mutant, but Jennika would walk into machinegun fire for Splinter or his sons. Definitely puts different spins on an already uneasy relationship.
Call her whatever you want Doug and I'll call her what I want.
Hob doesn't need to know. And she's not dumb enough to just let Hob know the truth.
Yeah but Mikey and Don are dumb/blunt/distracted enough to blurt it out.
Hobb will find out eventually. He's a hypocritical shit though. Either he needs to eventually calm down, or the Mutanimals need to leave him. Or they will start getting killed.
I honestly thought she was going to be the IDW Gabby Jones or was just there to serve some plot purpose and then leave. As for her and Casey it won't work, and even if she didn't get mutated it's like said, Casey and April are endgame.
Also Casey and Jennika weren't officially an item they even tiptoed around their Coney island thing being a romantic date.
One big complaint with IDW, that's not really a complaint, is that they won't get to Shadow or a version of Shadow for 20 more years of comics. The turtles babysitting and Splinter being a grandpa figure is the best stuff from Tales and v4.
I don't know. Maybe they'll pull some time travel shit eventually to introduce a version of her that's the right age for that kind of stuff.
April and Casey being the default thing was always kind of boring, anyway. They're the male and female human leads so they have to bang, woah.
I'll modify what I said here a bit. I flat out forgot that Shadow isn't Casey's kid biologically. So I guess that could make introducing her easier. Eventually.
Also I can't wait for that to happen so cancerous assfucks can call Casey a cuck for raising another mans daughter.
Eh, IDW has spread out the human cast a bit. So their "default" status isn't as taken for granted as in most versions of the story.
Better than what Nick pulled at least.
Mikey blabs only when he's written horribly. You nee to make Mickey a horrible annoying retard son of a bitch to make him leak the truth. And Donatello? No.
As for Hob. I want him to really make progress on his damn army and I wonder if he'll have the nerve to actually kill a human because so far I find it in bad taste that he tries but fails. He threatens Bishop's father? Conveniently Bishop kills the man himself. Bishop later on? Turns out Hob missed because Bishop is truly a midget. Enough with the excuses to keep Hob morally grey.
I didn't really like how nick handled april at all, though.
>Mikey blabs only when he's written horribly. You nee to make Mickey a horrible annoying retard son of a bitch to make him leak the truth.
Mikey blabs when he's emotional and that truth will help his case. Now if the wrong party is in the room or can overhear.... well.
>And Donatello? No.
Donnie and Lindsey are talking about a cure for Jennika and Hob overhears and... well imagine that can of worms.
I'd prefer Hob to either stay morally grey or just... get kind of better. At least for a while. Let his own insecurities fuck him up later. But I like him better as a viable anti-hero than somebody everybody has to logically turn against.
I think I'm the only TMNT fan who actually wants an Angel and Alopex solo story. Be it a full mini, or just an issue or two.
Hun has always hated Casey's relationship with the Turtles. Started after Splinter and Raph roughed him up and then blamed Casey getting hurt and sent to the Hospital on the Turtles. Yet he still allied himself with Shredder who was the one who stabbed Casey.
The interesting thing about him is that he obviously has some sort of affection for his son that in the end motivated him to quit drinking and stopped beating him (he occasionally hits him though). Yet he also traded the alcohol for the gang life and with Casey as the leader of the Purple Dragons he's kind of using that to manipulate him or steer him away from the Turtles.
What caught my attention was that they already introduced the Puzorelli family, specifically Anthony Puzorelli who was Shadow's biological mafioso grandfather in the Image comics. Although he probably got killed in the last issue for betraying Splinter. Also in the last issue in the history of the TMNT pages Eastman even talked about Gabby and Shadow while talking about IDW Casey while comparing him to Mirage Casey.
If Shadow gets introduced it won't be for awhile, especially since the Turtles still have the orphanage kids and it looks like Casey still is on the road of hitting rock bottom (or dying depending on how you interpret what Rat king said to him).
>Except he's not an anti-hero, he's very much a villain.
Anti-hero was definitely the wrong term. he's morally grey and he's kind of swinging around between being a good influence on the Mutanimals, honestly caring for them, and being a genocidal cynical nut.
>He was willing to murder those mutants with Null. All we need is to see him actually kill off a mutant for all his support to dry up. At that point Hob would need to build his army made up of loyalist extremists. And another thing Hob NEEDS to do is find a mutant scientist replacement for the human lesbian that works for him. No way does an extremist like Hob keep that human alive forever.
That's kind of the point. He's not full on extreme as his rhetoric would paint him as. He's a bit full of shit. Sally and Ray know that, so how they'll fall out on reeling him in will probably decide things for him.
Sega
>If Shadow gets introduced it won't be for awhile, especially since the Turtles still have the orphanage kids and it looks like Casey still is on the road of hitting rock bottom (or dying depending on how you interpret what Rat king said to him).
Imagine one of those kids is Shadow and it can tie into Casey hitting bottom and digging himself out? It's possible those devious fucks are already turning the wheels.
Though I still don't get why those kids were never just turned over to CPS. Yeah there are a few orphans from the Triceraton attack, but come on, most of them have to have family somewhere. It's frankly one of the sillier plot points in the entire run.
I don't know, but for once I actually do want a huge open world game. Imagine the entirety of New York with the turtles in it fighting Purple Dragons, maybe Mutanimals, the Foot, mobs, Triceritons, etc. They can go so nuts it could be amazing.
current
Wow dude got banned.
How is it only the TMNT threads where I see this phenomena? Is it just me?
>Imagine one of those kids is Shadow and it can tie into Casey hitting bottom and digging himself out? It's possible those devious fucks are already turning the wheels.
I didn't think of that. I guess it's possible that in the end Splinter will have to give those kids away for their safety and Casey ends up bonding with one little girl.
>Though I still don't get why those kids were never just turned over to CPS.
Same, they would have avoided all of the shitfest with Karai if Splinter had done that.
>dude got banned
No, someone just keeps bumping the thread and deleting their posts. It's surreal.
>Casey still is on the road of hitting rock bottom (or dying depending on how you interpret what Rat king said to him).
Rat King told him that his weakness would be his end and that his end would be the fall of all of those who are willing to die for him. Then he tells him that his story was already written.
Definitely sounds like death, the other thing could be him being a villain but Eastman loves Casey too much for that.
I just don't see Rat King's bullshit being the absolute truth for Casey. There's gotta be some trickster lie or twist to that. I imagine something about Rat King not understanding the power of a mortal's soul/courage. Something.
It's been like this for every thread since Jennika got mutated. I don't get it.
Well he seemed intrigued by Casey in the beginning only to make a disappointing realization about him and that's when he says that. Could be that he's fucking with him or could be that for once he's sincere and he knows by being sincere he's fucking with him.
But Casey will hit rock bottom, he did in the Mirage comic and City at War was a turning point for him and we are at IDW's City at War.
>Casey and April is always endgame
It's funny because they are legit one of the worst relationships on Yea Forums. Seriously. Movieverse turned out okay because it was short, and 2003 went okay because the whole world went so crazy Casey was no longer any worse than other options, and the time skip made it easy to gloss over them working shit out.
Mirage was a trainwreck. Casey fell for a random pregnant lady who died in childbirth, then he got April to help him to raise the kid, then April bailed after learning she's an infertile living drawing, and she turns into a fucking stupid superhero while he turned alcoholic and over killing a petty thief. And then he slept with Karai, fick it, why not
Image was worse, with Casey hating his domestic life and yelling at April, who just takes it and cries.
IDW April is too smart and sensible to stay with a (lovable) lughead that just keeps charging into fights waaaaay out of his weight class.
People treat the relationship as endgame, but any lengthy analysis of them concludes "well, maybe it could work. If the world goes insane and we can timeskip to their descendant. "
Exactly. There are a lot of reasons for it to not work. But when it does, I like it. It has a sort of real, ordinary people, kind of feel. A smart girl who's not a genius, and a lughead who means well. It's a hard dance to pull off when they're around the turtles level of crazy all the time. Really just giving Casey something to shoot for in life is kind of all you need to even them out. Something that makes him feel valid around April.
>hard dance to pull off
To put it mildly. It crashed and burned in thr original version, and the version that was probably closest in tone, and looks pretty dead in IDW. It took 2003's weird mix of cartoony and serious to make it kinda work, and even then they relied heavily on shit like "love at first sight turns into a bickering couple all in the space of the first episode they meet."
Not saying it's completely impossible to make them work, but treating them as destined endgame is crazy. Cyclops and Jean have a healthier track record.
I'm still holding out hope that all his mutant revolution talk is a long con, and secretly he's still doing all this shit to kill Splinter over his fucking eye.
I mean most of the versions you list where it doesn't work had writer shifts or decades between volumes or never tried.
It's a longshot, but if Casey stuck with her... well that would actually be way more interesting than the other more likely outcomes.
I'm skeptical that Angel gives anyone a boner. I suspect they just like the nod to Nobody, and to 2003.
The natural inclination is to want any adaptation to stay close to the source material, especially when the source is an indie-work by struggling creators trying to take on the big corporations.
So naturally people want Casey and April, because "it's in the source material."
But it's worth noting that the source material isn't a story that finished, or even coalesced into something coherent. It's been meandering on and off since 1984. There's a few dozen issues that were done (or at least approved of) by both creators, and a good chunk of THOSE are things that fans either despise (April's origin) or are pretty divided on (Justice Force and the other superheroes). The original source material NEVER really stated that they were a good couple together... and frankly the original comics had a mixed record on handling April in general. The brilliant computer programmer up and quit computer programming to run an antique store, then had a wonky relationship with a guy that showed up with another woman's kid, then things got even weirder.
Beyond that, there's more versions of April that don't end up with Casey than there are versions that do.
The IDW guys should REALLY feel free to do whatever they think feels right for the characters, not stick to "but that's how it's always been," because that's NOT how it's always been. Not by a longshot.
Jesus, if you want to fap to a big-titted bird girl just watch Monster Musume or some shit. Koya's got a great design.
It happened in TMNT Universe
And Angel was a waste of space in it. Aside from the suit she's literally female Casey, but less interesting because her ex-dragon daddy isn't Hun.
I do really like Koya's design but it is also pretty androgynous.
TMNT became huge because Eastman & Laird had something that looked cool and promoted it well enough to get lots of attention before it became obvious they didn't have any idea where they were going storywise. People that bitch about Jennika or other things "betraying" the original version are kidding themselves. It's closer to being Yea Forums's Bleach than Yea Forums's Full Metal Alchemist - became hot because it looked cool, not a whole lot there once you scratched the surface.
