This line is actually pretty telling of the current state of the show. In the earlier seasons the show got creative with changing commonplace items and settings to fit its underwater theme, like changing phones to conch shells and changing cats and dogs to molluscs and worms. Even smaller things like toilets had a tiki style to them.
But this was more or less dropped in later seasons as they introduced real-world stuff with absolutely no imagination to them, like Squidward's "normal" toilet.

I recall some bullshit for one of the songs, claiming the tempo and composition was part of some "system" the lead musician had that he used to categorize the ending songs for every game.
