How old was the grandmother and the rest of the royal family members during this flashback. Thorn is maybe 3ish, but both her parents and grandparents look really young too.
Well it is a dream so maybe she’s seeing something closer to her dream self but since honestly it’s hard to say, maybe grandma just aged horribly in the 20ish years after, max I’d say she’s in her mid to late 30s so it make sense that she look old
I’d almost say Tarsils worse but he was a crippled angry old man and Mim was dragon god who got fucked by one pissed off spirit, Kingdoks a good third because he’s gotten absolutely fucked the entire story to the point of being suicidal
I never understood why the dragons decided to attack their queen again instead of killing the people who invaded their home first. I guess one problem was a lot bigger than the other.
And there you have it folks: Bone. One of my favorite comics of all time, I'm glad I got to share it with you all. I believe another user has prepared a bunch of post-Bone material to storytime, so be on the lookout for that. I'll see you around the next time I get the urge to storytime something, so until then, do widzenia!
The way the series bookends is fantastic. According to Jeff Smith, in a brief interview with Nickelodeon Magazine from 1999, the distance from Boneville to the Northwest corner of the valley (where the Bones ended up at the beginning of the series) is comparable to the distance from the Southwest corner of Ireland to the Northwest corner of Poland, which is 500 miles. This means that the series began with them having walked 500 miles and ends with them getting ready to walk 500 more.
Favorite page of the whole series maybe Such a juxtaposition of destruction and doom with Briar being a cheeky fuck
Jordan Roberts
fucking smiley
Jason Sullivan
Oh man, thank you so much for posting this too. Didn't even know it existed. And the main book is always a pleasure to read. Thank you!
Dominic Miller
used to scare the shit out of me
Caleb Kelly
was it ever explained what happened to his face
Jack Flores
technically fone bone killed him
Noah Sullivan
Is there a compressed folder with all the comic pages?
Daniel Ortiz
Finally. After all this time. They finally get to eat their fucking quiche.
Juan Reyes
>choosing his family over the girl I'm alright with this.
Who's gonna keep an eye on ol' Phoney anyway?
Eli Price
He got caught in the explosion that blew up the mountain in v7 I thinj
Isaac Rogers
kek
Austin Robinson
Thanks, OP. I saw these as a kid but never picked them up. Now I see what I've been missing. Glad I got a chance to catch this storytime. Peace.
Jordan Evans
I'm not even a big fan of quiche but this makes me want some.
John Sanders
>I saw these as a kid but never picked them up. i'm in the same boat, i used to see bone all the time at school book fairs but never bought it for some stupid reason.
Luis Morris
At least Kingdok bites Thorn and makes it harder to accomplish the goal
Cooper Campbell
I fucking love Bartleby.
Ayden Evans
Smiley's more clever than people give him credit for.
Juan Mitchell
Hated this flying shit when I read this as a kid, should have had her run and jump in and out of the other world dreaming thing to make it look like she was blinking in and out of reality as army freaks out.
Only sour spot in the series imo
Blake Richardson
One of my favorite moments in all of comics. Not even sure why, but this part always makes me cry. It just underscores how everything seems so hopeless.
Jace Carter
One of my absolute favorite pages. Fone Bone fulfilling this grand prophetic adventure, topped off with a small gag. It fits so well.
Bentley Howard
I always thought cause Smiley and Phoney were ambiguous in their help and actively detrimental at times, while Fone was always 100% supportive of Thorn and stopping the Locust. Of the Bones, he's the most heroic. So he gets the statue.
Elijah Morgan
Honestly Taneal, FUCK the dragons
Carson Parker
I don't know, my interpretation was that even though the Locust is dead, Mim was still bonkers
Grayson Perry
Yeah, I'd imagine having the Locust run around in your head for a bazillion years would leave you in a pretty bad mental state. The dragons didn't want to take any chances.
Really, it's just funnier to imagine her being that big of a jobber though.
Matthew Brooks
If I told you one of the most emotionally satisfying moments of my life was seeing two rat monster chucklefucks finally getting to eat quiche you'd think I'm crazy And yet here we are
Nathan Stewart
I don't know what I feel exactly There's a definite from different worlds thing, very strong, and with these kinds of stories it usually never feels quite right if they don't go back to their home in the end
But damn if this hasn't made me conflicted all these years. I just don't know
Carter Adams
Man, Wendell's really come along a long way.
Joseph Long
Have the opposite then, Thorn takes some time out and visits Boneville.
Levi Evans
to be fair, he actively does ride Bartleby on his way to the Crown so it's a pretty worthy moment to memorialize
Jack Harris
KEK
Christian Miller
Really? They're that close?
Noah Smith
Aces, user
Zachary Morgan
The minicomics were specifically pack-ins with the action figures.
Samuel Garcia
Bone is the best Isekai Anime
Parker Perez
This page pissed me off as a kid. Why are you being such a coward B? Everything is on the line. Get the fuck in that cave.
Wyatt Ross
Rat creatures have an inherent fear of dragons. That's like a phobia. I don't blame him.
By which you mean the red dragon with the bunny ears
David Jones
reminder they ate the forest orphans parents
Justin James
Niggas gotta eat, man.
Nicholas Morgan
Smaller detail that I appreciate is how the townspeople, especially Wendell acquit themselves. They really get deep in feeling like a pack of useless assholes but when shit gets hairy they bust ass
I think it’s funnier that locust probably thought Mim was some unbeatable host before getting fucked by everyone for the rest of its existence she wasn’t even that important for balance anyways since things went along just fine post Mim getting turned to stone
Joshua Roberts
Kinda but he chose to go home, they could’ve gotten somewhere but didn’t, hey maybe he comes back in the future or something
Nathaniel Carter
>comes back >she's married to a girl
Zachary Ramirez
is there a way to expand all images in a thread at once? I hate clicking
Leo Long
If you're using the 4chanX extension, hit e
Brody Turner
I have always felt the dragon has the best reaction images
Man I regret not being around for the previous volume where the failed ritual happens and we finally see why Briar wanted Phoney so bad Fucking sublime moment when you realize it's all because of a fucking campaign balloon being misinterpreted by a bunch of primitive rat people and an evil dream wizard
Bentley Stewart
I haven't been around for the rest of the threads, so other people might have said this too, but i always liked the black and white versions of this story so much better. Specifically because of the two rat creatures. Them being two different colours bugged me for some reason. I had always thought they were the same colour as each other, but different from the main host.
Josiah Diaz
I think it all works fine except for a handful of scenes, mostly the ones meant to be in the deep dark
Luke Wright
I loved this series as a kid and I think RASL was great too, but I wish Jeff did more work
Joseph Rogers
About 3 years ago i got my girlfriend to read this series and she had a strange dislike for it overall. Her reasoning is that the Bones never grow as characters. They have no Arc. I personally loved this series, and rather hate that i lost a bunch of the old single issues I had in a cross country move.
Logan Baker
It's subtle, but there's definitely change there; they just don't lose their personalities as they grow into the shoes this strange world has made for them, so it might seem at first glance like nothing happens. It's more a case of gradually ramping threat and tension bringing out the real color of each Bone. Try to imagine book 1 Fone, Smiley, or (especially) Phoney being thrown into the stuff they face at the end.
Hudson Gutierrez
ruber?
Justin Jones
He goddamn WISHES
Ruber fucking EATS dragons
Ryan Diaz
>immediately rolls with the plan this fucking guy
Parker Reed
Only the wisest of wise men can so easily see the wisdom of Smiley.
Isaiah Rogers
It's so fucking weird because it never actually comes into play since the whole shebang ends not long after this The whole scene is basically just concocted to cuck the rat creatures out of quiche when it's right at their fingertips
Levi Walker
your girlfriend is an idiot. foney has the strongest character arc in the series and fone goes through a whole hero's journey, even smiley develops, learning that he can't be the laid back goofball 100% of the time.
Adrian Parker
that looks like a boner with balls
Anthony Hill
damn. smiley is cold-blooded
Jeremiah Martin
That looks fucking delicious user. Well done.
Oliver Butler
such a beautiful page
Christopher King
Man I fucked that up
Jonathan Nelson
>Error: You may not post more than 5 active threads at a time. Guess we will do this later
Lucas Clark
I will when I get that cash flow, thanks user
Anthony Fisher
Thanks op, feels really good to have closure on a series I only read bits and pieces of as a kid I got to say though, the climax was honestly disappointing. It's over so quick. Tarsil dies immediately. They just touch the crown and that's it. I was expecting something like Thorn encountering the lord of the locusts in the dreams once she touched the crown or anything, not just instant death. And mim got put down immediately as well.
Alexander Mitchell
You're not wrong, it's been frequently brought up as a complaint along the storytime that many of the villains of the series are pretty lackluster or wind up disappointing
God I remember reading this shit in junior high. Good to see it again, great work stroyanon. and here's to hoping for another old favorite in the forseeable future
