5 Years (1/2 Decade) ago today, Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) released.
Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) 5th Anniversary
Still one of the MCU's best. Hoping that Vol.3 is a good mix of 1+2.
>it's been 1/2 Decade since Guardians of the Galaxy came out
WHAT THE FUCK
it's far better than shit like gotg2 that for sure
It feels longer to me
This film being good proved the MCU was onto something special.
If Marvel failed at the cosmic side, the potential of the MCU would have been seriously limited. Instead, it's arguably the MCU's strongest feature.
GotG2 was weird. The humor was far worse but the emotional/drama moments were fantastically done.
That said I'm not a huge MCUfag so maybe other films did drama better.
GoTG2 was better as it had Goldenmommy in it
rocket and yondu were good. drax is a lost cause.
nu gamora ruined it to me. the whole endgame mess with 5 year timeskip was so weird i am not interested in MCU anymore
best scene?
1 and 2 are equal.
The both only have 1 notable problem each.
With V1 it's Ronan being a weak villain (second worst in the mcu after Malekith)
With V2 it's much worse humor going into pathetic bathroom humor territory and the beat several jokes to death, Tazerface wasn't funny period at any point whatsoever.
V2 had easily the best emotional beats of the Mcu before Infinity War.
Ego is great.
Score is majestic and beautiful.
>Gunn’s Easter egg still hidden
I know new stuff found in in both 2 recently related to the Builders from Hickman’s Avengers. Builders alphabet found all over the laser mining ship from GOTG2. Same alphabet can be found on Knowhere in GOTG1
Gunn tweeted recently PART of his Easter egg was discovered
agreed
It did the same thing almost all MCU movies do . Gained many fans and made the comic fans annoyed . But the comic fans are so small to give a shit.
what the fuck could it actually be
Some things annoyed me (still do) but overall as a big fan of the comics I was quite pleasantly surprised by Gunn's take. I appreciated that, in addition to DnA providing the general template, he also pulled from past versions of GOTG, other iterations of the characters themselves, and disparate parts of Cosmic in general to make something new. If it was a comic it would very much be a reboot rather than the adaptation many of us were expecting, but I can't fault Gunn for deciding to do his own take, especially when it's clear that his changes come from a sense of love for a wide range of Cosmic source material.
What do you think of Thor ragnorak, Hulk, Ultron , Hank pym and Spiderman.
Shitty movie, the dance-off scene killed the MCU for me... and vol 2 is even worse except for the villain.
You sound petty as fuck that 10 seconds of the movie ruined every other Marvel movie for you somehow.
I liked 2 more than 1
Nobody cares about your awful opinions, shithead.
Original Gamora being dead makes me want to swan dive off a roof, and I'm really hoping she's rescued from the soul world in Vol 3.
I disagree I mean if i was a warlord intent on destroying a planet and then when i got off the ship to finish it some chubby guy started dancing at me I'd be confused as fuck as well. That's some real surreal shit from Ronan's PoV
I went into vol 1 so fucking excited for Drax, and they turned him into an idiot. i dont understand why everyone else is fine with this?
Because he does have the occasional moment of introspection that we don't see from any other guardian?
I mean, he was a literal drooling retard in the 90s. I always thought it was funny that Giffen reinvented him as this ultrabadass Riddick expy when even his creator never took him very seriously.
BUMP
Because Drax was literally a complete idiot back in the day.
I’d you read the Silver Surfer comics leading into to Infinity Gauntlet, Drax is straight up retard child mode. Surfer even plants his ass in front of a TV to keep Drax occupied because of how much annoying, short tempered, and violent he is.
Not a marvel fan.
Imo endgame is shit.
But gotg 1 and 2 really are good films for me, and what makes them good is basically the characters and the galactic ambient. They could have used the music aspect better imo, like what they did in the beginning of the first.
Also they should have chosen better 80ies tracks come on, they were all pop shit gimme some glam or rock ffs. Fuck your Pina colada.
Great shit nonetheless
DESU, the GOTG are my favorite corner of the MCU. I especially liked that the team formed on its own and didn't need some mentor figure explaining to them why they needed to get together. They were just a couple of lost causes who just found meaning with one another. And I really don't get the hate GOTG 2 gets. The movie looks great and has such good emotional beats.
Also Mantis.
Drax had a weird mixture of some of the best and worst moments. He serves a pretty important function in the narrative, but stuff like "Mantis, watch out!" was just dumb.
the whole endgame mess with 5 year timeskip was so weird
That reminds me, Rocket is the only guardian (bar Nebula, which is a cyborg anyway) that is 5 years older than his peers and has the shortest lifespan. I'm concerned about his future.
No...that’s impossible, it just came out like, last week...!
Vol 2 was great though, shithead.
GOTG music is 60s and 70s dummy
You fuckers bitching about Gamora missing in practice all her memories and experiences from 2014 to 2018 will lose your fucking minds when you realize the amount of times Tony had an old personality backup dumped into his brain.
?
Do you mean in the comics? Nobody cares about that shit. Tony once died, got replaced by his teenage self, then returned with his memories intact by a process too convoluted to describe.
Then in Dark Reign he gets his brain erased and recovered with a backup from the pre Civil War era, something that never gets "undone". And the Tony we're seeing today is also some bullshit backup or whatever.
This shit is hardly unheard of in capeshit, yet people are crying about not muh Gamora because for all intents and purposes, she's only missing a bunch of memories.
BUMP
i regret not seeing this in theaters
