So how exactly can you make MCU Reed Richards a super-scientist with a egotistical streak without making him an MCU Tony Stark clone Yea Forums?

He doesn't quip, if at all

I think the key to both Tony and Reeds personality differences can be summed up in one simple hypothecal. What would each character do if they were asked to solve an equation on a chalkboard?

Tony would walk up to a chalkboard to solve an equation only after belittling the person asking him to solve said equation for 5 mins. Reed would just quietly solve the equation before anyone even has the time to finish a sentence and then walk away.

Also dont put Reed anywhere near Black Sabbath.

Reed is arrogant and condescending, not egotistical.

More autism

Maybe if you read more than the character's wikipedia page you'd know how different they are.

pretty much this. He'd be the jotaro to starks joseph.

That pose is fucking stupid

Have him hate being a superhero.

easy, have him be his normal self and let himself get cucked daily and ignore his children.

They'd probably make him like Benedict Cumberbatchs Sherlock Holmes. Autistic, arrogant with no social skills. And Ben, or Johnny will be the second man to him like Watson.

He's Frasier, but with super science instead of extravagant culture.

he should be a lighthearted corny like a 50s dad with the autism trappings of a dedicated scientist

>with a egotistical streak
I don't think he's intended to.

They could cast an attractive actor, for starters

Play up the 50s science dad

Make him autistic.

No fuck off Slott.

Why is he doing that with his arms
He can just cross his arms
Motherfucking stretchy bullshit son of a bitch

Just make him Stark x100. Give him the Captain Marvel treatment where he's been around for decades (but we never saw him because he's off doing shit in other universes). He'd be arrogant because he's already had to deal with threats like Galactus and the Infinity Gauntlet in those other universes hundreds of times

You go full Pym, by making Reed Richards break the laws of physics like it's child's play. Moreover, Reed is all business and consumed by his work

Give him autism, as they should.

This
If the F4 is all about wacky space adventures in literally any scenario, then Reed Richards should be the group's Dr. Who.

Honestly, I'm not interested in a F4 movie, but I think it would make an excellent animated TV show. Think "anything can happen" bullshit in the vein of R&M, SvtFoe and Gravity Falls. And it'd be mixed-media, too, a la the Amazing World of Gumball. So Mr. Fantastic would be 100% hand-drawn, the Thing would be 100% CG, the Invisible Woman would be rotoscoped and... I'm not sure about the Human Torch. But they've certainly got enough villains to make each episode unique and interesting, so I think this is the best approach.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Make him an actual scientist and not industrial engineer like Stark. Stark is more profit-invention-motivated (nothing wrong with that) and Reed is more, discovery-experiment-write-research-papers-motivated. Make that a key difference in their characters.

But they fucked up by killing off Stark already.

>Human Torch
Robot Chicken toy/claymation

Reed is an awkward nerd with a big mouth. They got a literal perfect cast for the first F4 movie, than Fantas4tic happened

Too much work. It'd have to be some medium that looks REALLY good animating fire.
Plus, stop-motion is more suited towards the Thing. I'm imagining pastels or charcoal for the Torch, but I feel that'd be too much work for a tv show. Maybe some ornate digital filter

>Have a movie where the other three try to prove they don't need Reed's super science to save them and just leave him in his lab
>Reed solves everything in the last 20 minutes anyways

You make him awkward and socially inept, and unintentionally funny (and he doesn't get it). Easily distracted. Basically make him autistic really, but mild and endearing.

So MCU bruce?

>Reed sighs and rummages through his junk drawer and picks out a device
>One click and the BBEG is defeated

Accentuate Reed’s autistic behaviors, make him a lame but innocent like any good father and mix in some plebeian science feats ala Rick and Morty. Done and done

This
That should be Johnny and Ben's job.

Just make him Egon Spengler

He's always broody though, Reed would be an optimist. I guess the professor from endgame without all the confidence, and more effortlessly smart.n

This works.
Johnny quips, Ben makes simpleton jokes, and Sue insults people without them noticing. Invisible insults if you will.

Make him a snob like TV's Frasier Crane

You don’t, you make him the dead-pan science man who knows more than just engineering, most of the humor surrounding him would involve him not reacting to obviously funny situations

Richards can be a dick and neglectful, but he isn't egoistical. He can freely admit that there are characters who are far more experienced and qualified than him on certain topics, and can even admit there are characters who are more intelligent than him in certain aspects. He confesses that Doom has him on magic, time travel, and powered armor.

In the cartoons and in the Ultimate Universe, he didn't care much if he got the credit for a certain discovery or invention, as long as humanity prospers from it. Hell, the reason why the other Richards wanted nothing to do with him was because he wasn't egoistical enough for their tastes: he cared more about his family than trying to improve mankind.

>Invisible insults if you will.
>Invisisults

From what I gathered about comic Reed, make him smart, if not smarter than, Stark but don't make him immediately charismatic. Since Iron Man 1, Stark has been set up as just as much a celebrity as a genius inventor so the best contrast would be making Reed a recluse. The fact that he often gets absorbed into his work bordering on obsession is well documented, if the Council of Reeds is anything to go by it only takes a little push for most versions of him to forget his family and team entirely, as well as the fact that while he does love his wife and kids, he can be unintentionally neglectful. Play up the fact that his egotism is internal not external. He doesn't need to prove he's the smartest person in the room, he already knows he is and is fine not bringing it up. His problem is that he doesn't have natural charisma or people skills.
