The shots of Guy Pleasant and Butt Witch really tie the whole opening together. Same as with the actual show - the episodes GP and BW are in are substantially better than the other episodes.

Really, the show's biggest weakness is its insistence on ignoring its strongest characters. BW doesn't need to be in every episode but she should be in more than fucking 7. Your main villain is the most important character in the entire show, and she doesn't even appear in half the episodes.

i actually really like the show and think there's a lot of complexities to tackle that other shows tend to skirt around or shove into a METAPHOR box. The idea of Endless itself is fascinating because clearly humans CAN stay there and staying there degrades the humanity of a person and chips away at the person they once were.

So that begs the question, how many of the islanders were Born from endless and how many used to be humans? That makes an entirely different ballgame when it comes to the implications. And, I mean, the show is DEPRESSING as hell. It's funny in some ways but mostly I can feel extreme melancholy pouring from every character, especially Reggie. As someone who was also very fucked up with the idea of growing up and a Baby Dyke like Reggie, I get her on a visceral level. Seeing her get angry and confused about straight nonsense (i was convinced I was asexual and romance was just 'icky' until I figured it out) but not getting how to tackle her gay feelings hit really close to home for me. Because you aren't told by others that what you're feeling is something that can happen. I never came out of the closet until I graduated, but I can only HOPE Reggie embraces herself. It's also possible she could be transgender hence her hatred of the idea of becoming 'womanly', but that's an entirely different theory.

I haven't gotten to the gay parts yet but it would be pretty cool of them to explore that in more detail. Butt Witch is more of a manifestation of her fears about growing up. Evil, weirdly-shaped, enemy of fun and childhood, has lots of arcane witchcraft that changes who you are.

I'm inclined to think that her sexuality is incompatible with Endless as a setting, at least for Reggie. It's anathema to her connection with the island. Why do you think it drew her attention away when Connelly invited her to hang out?

The Butt Witch is just another denizen of the island, conspiring to keep her there, to keep her attached. I'd love to see where they actually go with the idea of BW being benevolent rather than antagonistic, but it doesn't seem likely or particularly necessary. Real life is the benevolent force.

first of all, it's clear that inanimate objects simply come to life when brought to endless and not exclusively by burying them in the sand. second, the attitude that a person has towards a certian item can influence the creation: unlike her toys from episode 1, Reggie wanted to get rid of the label maker and the puberty books so that has to play an important part. same with Todd when creating Guy Pleasant and Schmaroon.
third, I might be remembering this wrong, but none of the creatures in Endless seems capable of dying or aging, they're illiterate and some of them are insane, like Dr. Champion. so why did the label maker monster explode? my guess is that this is the first episode and they can't tell the stories they want yet so instead it ends with a big monster fightsince they're establishing the rules of the show and introducing new characters, so that monster doesn't matter.

anyway, I don't believe that Dr. Champion or any of the other creatures pre-episode 1 were former humans. Elmer's been in Endless since the 50's and he physically looks the same as when he was a child and it's more likely that Reggie's island had previous owners. I don't really care about the lore of Endless, Reggie's coming of age story is more interesting.

Unironically better than I was expecting. It kind of reminds me of Pepper Ann but off the rails. A lot of it is very on the nose but given its target demographic that's fine. There are certainly some cringy lines here and there, but it actually didn't bother me as much. I suppose one thing I liked about Mack and Beefcake was there wasn't any "YOU KNOW LIKE GAY!? YOU EVIL!" type shit. For the most part, they're just treated as characters first, which is what you're supposed to do. I also think the fact that some episodes actually have decent practical advice for kids (and some children in adults bodies) is pretty good. It does lack nuances sometimes, but at that stage of life it's good enough.

There are some big issues though. It is really formulaic, some of the cast are legitimately awful, and many characters are underutilized. A tighter cast would be good. I think that some of the ways that they portray child like "imagination" do work, but it still remains too constrained. There's no way that supposed "creative" children wouldn't come up with things beyond just mashing two basic concepts together, like dogs and fruit.

I think an actual exploration of the Endless would be really cool, it seems there's a lot of untapped potential there. I mean, we already have our id, ego, and superego, might as well go all out with this metaphor. Also some characters are just straight up creeps. Of course, all of this really has to do with the plot and setting, the animation is so-so nothing ground breaking, can't say I love the color pallet, music and sound design are serviceable. Some of the voice acting is actually pretty good, the butt witch especially. All in all, okay/10.

That's actually not true. If anything a big part of Reggie's character is the fact that she hates conforming to societal rules and would rather do her own thing. If being straight or gay shouldn't really matter, then why not have a gay character? What difference does it make? Just the existence of a gay character =/= virtue signaling. Korrasami is more virtue signaling then this, in that situation shit came from nowhere just to placate fans and to have the "prestigious" honor of having the first openly gay couple on Nickelodeon. I think in this day and age it's an important lesson that needs to be taught, especially in this day and age where "just be yourself" is being pushed so hard.
Life is a compromise, that simple, you can do what you want to do and be who you want to be when the opportunity comes, but you can't just completely live in your own world and just expect everyone around you to change to accommodate that. Sometimes you have to act normal, put on that dress you don't like and talk about something other than the dildo spitting octopus you drew the other day, sometimes you have to just put aside your own reservations about something and just spend a day doing what your buddies want to do, and sometimes, just sometimes, you have to accept that if everyone around you thinks you're unbearable than maybe you really do have a problem and need to look into some life changes. He went to a writing camp, and went to writing groups, and through them met his GF, and honestly he's done darn well by himself.

Find a skill you can do, that you can respect yourself for, and others can respect you for as well and work it, and use it to find others with similar skills.

Nobody wants to be friends with someone they have nothing in common with, but everyone likes meeting people that are skilled at something they respect.

Hell yeah, try both. Personally I don't like a lot of media made these days, just because it all feels so sloppy and the endings are often disappointing. But it doesn't make me mad because I write and draw. If I watch something I dislike I can think "hey, I'll try and avoid that". Same with stuff I do like- "Neat, could I use that?". It gets rid of that "helpless" feeling of consuming media that you dislike.

From someone who has the same problem, be fine with half-done work. Don't expect to be able to finish everything, half-finished or barely-started stuff is still significant for your practise and your wellbeing even if you feel it isn't something you're keen on showing off to others. Give yourself a break in terms of quality and quantity, you want it to be something that makes you feel good, not stressed out or guilty.

Uhh, welcome to being an artist? That's normal dude. You have to bypass those feelings watch a movie/show you really like, go to art streams and watch how someone else draws. Try draw a character again and again, anything to say your drawn SOMETHING.
Also, references, use them.

Will beating yourself up actually motivate you to draw/write more? Probably not, it will just make your brain shy away from thinking about writing/drawing. Motivate yourself with *enjoyment* and very very mild reproach. Write/draw indulgent things. Identify environments where you work better, or worse, and be realistic with yourself.

But shitting all over yourself is not the way to draw/write more. Enjoying it is.

Think of each "unfinished" thing as a warm up to your next idea. On one hand it feels good to say you've finished a project, but you can also take pride in having done something like doodling a cat or something. Something being finished only matters if you're doing it professionally but remembering that you're drawing for fun and yourself can get you out of the mindset that you have to draw a certain way.

In a weird way this is probably the one time where "Be like Reggie" isn't bad.

Only if you feel it's having a negative impact on your mood or necessary actvities. And even if it is, aim to reduce over time rather than cut it out entirely, that way you can slowly reintroduce other activities instead of overloading yourself with trying to stop and trying to do the things you're supposed to be doing at the same time.

Everyone has their own goal but I think at least once a day is fine, or just once ever ycouple of dayd, and can be as easy as keeping a small notebook nearby or even downloading a drawing app.
As mentioned, references are fine and for personal use tracing is fine too. Draw something you see outside or scribble in paper and see what you can draw from that. or just draw shapes and simple objects like fruits, or draw yourself from a mirror.

-- Reggie's best friend(zone) is a black guy
-- Reggie's brother(only "white male") is treated like the retard outcast of the family.

The voice acting is also insanely bad and uncomfortable to listen to. Especially that of the neighbor, who sounds like a petite 23-year-old putting on a cringe gruff voice.

Okay, so then we have the animation itself. It's ugly and boxy. It looks like MSPaint-level art, and the shapes keep distorting and caving in on themselves so it's not even consistent.

This character in pic related (I don't know if it's Ren or Stimpy since I hated that show as well) looks like it would blend in perfectly as Reggie's pet or something. Same weird face style and blunt use of flat, dull colors.
