Not all that surprising because it became clear in early 10's that what keeps this comic afloat is incredibly dedicated community and they simply just follow wherever the team of the comic goes. I think it kind of transformed somewhere along the way from "we like the comic lore, we like everything about this garbage" to "we like everything these guys do with this garbage" (meaning Flynn, Yardley, Stanley and etc).

They’re ugly looking power-ups that became over-praised and then overused in the franchise and since a good chunk of them basically functioned as secondary abilities of other characters it means to some fans they’re taking the place of said characters being playable ever again

His grasp and utilization of the characters is good and his concepts for stories are fine but his actual script/dialogue can be rather hit and miss with him relying to much on referential humor at times (especially when it comes to putting song lyrics in scripts), and he has a massive problem with pacing and stretching shit out longer than it needs to in order to try and “build up” a longer narrative when at this moment we’re not even sure if the comic or it’s publisher will last long enough for it to get there.

*Tendency to drag stories out
*Poor choreography/sense of space (characters rarely act based upon physical state, five feet away can be equivalent to a hair's breadth or a mile depending on what the script wants, characters tend to slide around to where they need to be, environment rarely taken into consideration)
*Lack of character agency (characters only act on their designated turn, and only if they "matter")
*References in place of jokes
*References shoehorned into dramatic scenes purely for recognition

It’s unusual, but we did the preview pages a few months early (in February I think?) so they could be used for promo purposes while the rest of the issue’s script was still under review by Sega. In the meantime I was doing covers and character designs, then in April/May we really dug into getting the full issue ready.
