>Annihilus was almost the villain for Fant4stic
Would the movie have been better or worse? I mean, not that it could have gotten much worse anyway...
Annihilus was almost the villain for Fant4stic

It would still be a shitshow considering how insane Trank was but he would have at least made a lot more sense than Mt Dew Doctor Doom
So what was up with Trank? I never read much on the shitshow. Was he super controlling or something?
>josh ''my film will tank'' trank
I remember reading that script about how they'd come across a planet ravaged by Galactus, and enter an Amphitheater literred with bodies, and then one of the buildings would turn out to be Galactus who'd turn to look at them and they'd all shit their pants and run away.
He did too much coke, panicked because of the pressure and broke down. He blew it. The producers and ghost directors had to finish it
Probably would have been better, though at the same time, more generic.
FOX invested in Trank thinking he was an up and coming great filmmaker after Chronicle. He's what happens when a rookie is given too much too soon. Trank did coke, drank, ruined hotel rooms, made actors stressed/cry, told them how to emote even by the eyebrow, and so on. The film was over budget and late and when FOX finally stepped in to see what was going on they flipped out, delayed the film twice, and rushed to give it an ending because Trank only had 2/3rds of it shot. You can tell which scenes were redone thanks to Kate Mara's bad wig. Trank finally committed career suicide on the eve of release with twitter saying "I had a great vision for this movie you'll never see" and quickly deleted the post in vain. The damage was done.
I actually thought Annihilus would be the villain from the trailers but instead they went with Doom for absolutely no reason.
That dull ass """"Realistic""""design is shit but it is about of par with the other movie villains who get turned into bland mash for the general public.
You know, I've grown to dislike several things about the MCU, but when you compare the movies in it to most of Hollywood's other attempts to adapt comic books to the big screen, it's amazing how competent Kevin Feige has been overall.
The one positive of this movie is that it fucked up Doom so bad that if he ever winds up in a movie again, we'll probably get classic Latverian scientist-mage motherfucker Doom just as a rejection of Trank's version.
>classic Latverian scientist-mage
That is all anyone ever asked for. Like, I'm not even a F4 fan, and I'm certainly no Dr. Doom fan, but goddamn it's frustrating to see superhero media acting ashamed to be superhero media.
Latverian Scientist with a Mask is pretty much what some MCU writers have said that that's what they'd do with Doom.
And his movie plans haven't been officially discontinued...
BossLogic, an actual designer for Marvel Studios, did Annihilus WAY better.
Yea that’s the rub. Sure the MCU isn’t perfect, sure we aren’t getting the gold standard of adaptations and the source material isn’t treated with enough respect....but fuck we could have Fan4stic and Wolverine Origins. Count our lucky stars that the first real Cinematic Universe is run by a guy whose a fan of D-Listers and reads comics.
He'd be a good villain for the MCU Fantastic Four
It would be a great idea to introduce him in the first FF movie while merely hinting at Doom. Then, in the second movie, Doom shows up, while Annihilus goes into space and encounters the GOTG, setting the stage for MCU Annihilation.
I actually think Black Panther 2 should intro Victor as a revolutionary in Latveria.
The F4 don't get their own movie for a while- they float around the MCU as supporting characters for like three movies.
Looks awesome but is it just me or does he seem sort of MCU Ultron-y there?
I think if they did Annihilus in the MCU, might need to change the design drastically to differentiate the two.
> BossLogic, an actual designer for Marvel Studios
kill yourself you fucking noob
what is that?
He came on Yea Forums to rant about Simon Kinberg and all that.
>>Annihilus was almost the villain for Fant4stic
It makes sense from what was said in

>honestly first movie is space bugs
>second movie is psycho-man
>third movie is Kang the Conqueror
Look in the top right corner.
And that was the most accurate they got. Look at this shit.
user you're replying to is a faggot, but BL did design one of the official Endgame posters.
It's cool that the concept art has been released, because it confirms the really early script leaks we got about the Negative zone and Annihilus. I think is it. Articles were making fun of that plot at the time because it was so similar to the avengers 3rd act, where it centers around an alien army coming through a portal, and having to shut that choke point down. It still would have been bad, but maybe just more generic, less of a trainwreck.
Shouldn't it be Mt Dewm?
Where are you getting the pics from, OP? I always like looking at concept art.
These are terrible. I remember reading the plot leaks and thinking it might not be too bad when it was about Annihilus trying to invade from the Negative zone. But seeing this, it would have really annoyed me. There's almost no essence of Annihilus' design at all in the seond one, and while the first one is similar in broad strokes, what's with reworking his membranous wings into weird giant feather things? He looks like he has an endoskeleton rather than being vaguely insectoid too. They really just look like standard science fiction alien monsters, with no technological weapons, and show how the people in charge wanted to lean way too heavily on the specific sci-fi genre rather than remembering this is also supposed to be a superhero movie, with a supervillain in it.
Doing a reverse image search shows the concept artist displays them on his website. Here's a moloid he did.
>I had a blast working on Josh Trank's Fantastic Four. Very little of what i did actually made it to screen as production and scripts went through many drastic changes well after I left the project. I'm still proud of the work.
This poor fellow was a mutated abomination created by Baxter Labs, escaped and wreaking havoc in New York. Eventually written out.
I don't think he's much to blame for these designs not looking much like recognizable Fantastic 4 creatures, I blame Trank and the direction given to the concept artists, because what does "mutated giant creature breaks out of Baxter labs" have to do with the Moloids? The people in charge of the project had no idea what they were doing.
Yeah, I agree with those who say it would've been more generic, but probably slightly more enjoyable. You know they wouldn't let Annihilus talk or keep any personality beyond Final Boss Level, so he's better left un-adapted.
>This was my idea for the dominant fungal life form on planet zero. The rock is inanimate matter, but the pale slime mold on it's surface is semi sentient, and can constrict like tendons to give the fungal colony locomotion.
>These images are out of order as a thumbnail of a rock is not very exciting. But it's meant to be a surprise reveal: walk past an innocuous rock, and then it get's up and walks away. I did a rough animation as proof of concept.
Hm, didn't think a RIS would be enough. Thanks user. ArtStation is honestly pretty fun to browse; you come up some good stuff pretty often.
Fantastic Four: Early Victor
My early Victor designs were intended to ground the classic Doom iconography in plausible historic influence. Though horribly altered from the the planet zero disaster, it leaves Victor with the ability to manipulate the matter of planet zero creating what ever he chooses. In this case a suit of armor reflecting the historical heyday of his country Latveria. I combined Turkish and Mongolian influences to come up with his Latverian look. Production eventually went with a very different idea.

>Doom's now a MongoTurkroach
>I combined Turkish and Mongolian influences to come up with his Latverian look.
That's a misfire. Should be Slavic medieval and early modern aristocracy and Roma if anything.
These however, I somewhat like
>More Planet Zero Exploration. These after Victor has exerted his influence over the fungal biomass recreating facsimiles of his home country Latveria.
>Production eventually went with a very different idea.
Yeah. The tinfoil and slime look.
The idea seems to be "What if Doom used his new powers to build Castle Doom on an alien world."
Dude, your pic isn't by Boss Logic, Boss logic does does absolutely garbage photoshop edits.
That pic was done by Raf Grassetti, the same person who did this Nova
Boss logic just took his pic, added really shitty wings to it, and saturated the colors
Might have been interesting.
It would have made for a more interesting villain, but they couldn't even do Ben Grimm's CG smoothly so I'm not gonna act like this wouldn't have looked like hot garbage.
