I just want to do it on the side, OP. I’m trying to become a lawyer too
What was Kirbopher thinking with the TOME game
>Have people vote on if they wanna play as the character from the series or an OC character
>People obviously vote OC character because the whole deal with TOME in universe is that the character creation lets you be literally anything
>OC character is literally 4 different generic bases with zero visual character customization whatsoever
Not to mention
>People obviously want a game version of the cartoon
>Make the game an entire new continuity with a different game world entirely
>Moving to LA
Because I would be homeless and penniless in a week.
probably something to do with the same 10 people getting 99% of all va work
it's a shame too, they're really missing out on my deep voice guy character
People who make 3d nsfw porn pay better and theres tons of opportunities out there. Animation and games already have a catalog of artists who can do the job and wont bother with a newbie like me
>probably something to do with the same 10 people getting 99% of all va work
That type of quitter attitude and unwillingness to even take a first step is what allows those same people to keep getting 99% of the work
LA is probably the most toxic and dysfunctional city in America. I'd rather drink bleach than have to live there. If I ever became a VA, I would just build a sound studio and do my recording from the comfort of my own home, far far FAR away from LA!
Probably more profitable to dub fancomics on YouTube while living in a small town with minuscule housing expenses
Does anyone have tips on VAing? I was told I had a nice voice (in bible study no less) are there books/videos people recommend?
Half the city is about to be killed by the black plague, so I'll wait for the competition to be weeded out first.
>moving to california
How about you just give me a syringe of AIDS and I'll cut out the middle man?
>I was told I had a nice voice (in bible study no less)
That's not at all the thing that should get you motivated for the business, and any professional VA (whether they be unionized in LA or not) would tell you that. It's all about the acting and character-playing.
In all honesty, Bob Bergen mentioned that one of the best things an aspiring voice actor can do is study improv. That's a great way to train your brain and body to commit to the characters you play and make decisions on the fly since voice actors are given virtually no time to rehearse.
forgot to mention i'm not a jew or willing to be buttfucked by one so can't get a job in hollywood anyway
Because everytime I hear my voice in a recording I don't like it
Theres more to it, I draw and animate, was in theatre as a teen(mostly for improve stuff), and roleplayed too.
I have dozens of characters and ideas, I dont see my self moving to LA. Im just doing it for myself. I can move on to helping others with their projects when I get better at it, and seeing where it goes from there.
I love that people honestly think it's as easy as that. I enjoy seeing the hoards of failed actors, voice actors, artists, etc on my way to work or to the beach. You all think that somehow you're the one that's different, that somehow you of all the other mindless drones are superior and will make it big. But you're not, once you get here the Paris syndrome sets in and you just start living in tent city with all the other failed wanna be movie stars. Everyone will spit on you and you'll deserve it for being so stupid. If you're a failure at home then you'll be a failure wherever you go.
Dee Bradly Baker has a site for it: iwanttobeavoiceactor.com
and if you look Bob Bergen up on Facebook he has a great video series on Youtube called "Ask the Pig" of archived livestreams of him just casually talking about different VO tips.
In addition to the improv, one thing Bob Bergen teaches his students is that if you "physically play the character, the voice will follow." Your posture, mouth-positions, and other actions you do with your body all have an effect on what sound comes out of you. In that sense, you can almost think of your body as an instrument when it comes to voice work.
>On Yea Forums
>Calling other people failures
Thanks for your help!
nix the "Youtube" bit. "Ask the Pig" is just on FB
Cuckifornia is so expensive you could be making 80k a year and still have a shit time keeping up with payments.
The truth of the matter is that most people don't bother to pursue their ambitions
If you wanna be a VA, you sure as fuck should not move to LA where the same ten fuckers have a monopoly on all the roles.
You wanna go to Texas where they actually will hire unknowns for anime and video games.
What was Kirbopher thinking with TOME period?
>bases his entire life on constantly remaking a fucking sprite comic from twenty years ago
>I enjoy seeing the hoards of failed actors, voice actors, artists, etc on my way to work or to the beach.
How the fuck do you know what their failed profession is if you're just passing by? Cali has a horrific homeless problem to begin with. Literally the highest in America.
Dubbing anime and matching the preset lip-flapping is actually harder work than just voicing a character from the storyboard stage. Doesn't pay quite as well either.
I live in nyc and how does one work on becoming one exactly. It’s something I actually wanna do
It's still at least work you can put on a resume, whereas in LA you won't even get a job because the big guys get to play three dozen characters per show.
Why would you move to LA?
>Cali has a horrific homeless problem to begin with. Literally the highest in America.
that's kind of misleasing, a lot of homeless go to california explicitly to be homeless
Interesting.
Wouldn't recommend that either, unless you're willing to gut it out. I hired a VA studio for a project, and each actor got paid like four cents per word.
Jokes on you, OP, I was born and raised here and I'm still not a famous voice actor for cartoons and vidya.
it's mostly about your setup
>have a good, quiet place to record
>have a good quality mic
>have a decent understanding of how to master your audio files
other than that, the actual acting part is mostly just knowing how to use your voice to convey emotion and feelings
>either have to spend a shit ton of money to live in california or live under the boot of chris sabat in texas
>runkachunk has spent years being the premiere flash cartoon girl voice actor
>biggest role was a forgettable video game where she voice a robot girl
>kirbopher's spent years voicing in anime
>only recently got important roles
>will probably start losing them because he admitted he's a shitty person
I'm happy working 9-to-5 in an office, thank you
Because the Internet told me to learn to code.
Because LA is a fucking awful place to live
>runkachunk
Is she fat in real life?
she's chubby from what i've seen
not to the level of chode, where she eats computers, but still not in shape
Because it doesn't work out for everyone even if you have the skills and contacts.
I still haven't seen or heard a definitive answer as to what happened to her. Just rumors about her leaving because she was weirded out by the internet finding the sexy cat a little too sexy.
Where does one study improv?
I honestly don't think I could handle living in an overly large metropolis, especially not one as fucked up as LA. 100k-500k is the perfect size for me.
_____in LA_____
Shima is for breeding
>Why haven't you moved to LA
because i have self respect
plus if i were to move back to cali then it would away from the shitholes that are LA and SF
SOMEBODY PLEASE POST THE BAGEL STORY
I CAN'T FIND ANY ARCHIVES OF IT ANYWHERE
That is such a stupid argument to make. As if somehow reading a forum makes you less successful. You're a moron that doesn't have an actual argument.
>Half the city is about to be killed by the black plague
Wha?
They'll constantly try and tell you about it, it's usually the young ones with some shitty hair style and some stupid instrument. They always play some dumb ass song that only consists of three strings. The donations that you give them are supposed to help them "make it big" and they'll remember you if you help them along the way. They usually end up just being junkies.
Didn't New York used to be a good place for non-union voice work?
Where do you live? Lots of places will probably have some kind of improv theater where you can take classes.
>>>California, land of beaners, chimps, and commies
*Laughs in freedom state*
In NYC the closest we have to a consistent studio similar to Funimation or BangZoom is DuArt, which handles the localization for Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh. Take classes with pros in the local area, you can find those or online workshops by simply looking at some Pro VA twitters.
There’s DuArt and Media Blasters currently, one does Pokemon/YuGiOh and the other mainly does porn. Take your pick, otherwise you’re better off looking for commercial work.
user, as a VA myself recording at home can only take you so far. If you want to be serious about it, moving to the major areas is a buff to your resume. It takes time, but it’s worth it. Plus, once you DO get famous enough, THEN you can do home studio work.
You obvs don’t live here. It’s a beautiful town and it’s beautiful weather all the time and the people are all beautiful. And there’s mucho more opps for work.
because i'm a beaner
End of disscusion
ESPECIALLY for Voice Acting. Had an acquaintance move out there and she got plenty of voice work in animu games.
Oh shit I live in Texas. Brb gonna voice anime games
youtu.be
Seriously though dfw area where funimation is or what?
that drawing is awful kek
Coming from Hawaii and going to California and seeing the prices here made me think i was still at home. I'm currently living in Missouri and cant believe the prices for homes, apartment's, gas, and food is here.
What are you in? Branson?
Yeah, 80-75k is also around the same just to scrap by in hawaii.
Yup you gotta be here where the work opportunities are to even find out about them...especially if you are not in sag aftra. You have to pay your dues and build up your resume first.
Springfield. I like it here, the Forests reminds me of the ones back home. Not being able to see the ocean is something to get use to.
I am impressed that he did manage to animate the millions of background characters he promised. They don't look great or anything, but nothing in the game does, so they don't look any worse either.
Launching that game now is going to be impossible, though. He's totally fucked after responding to the callouts, and getting kicked off of Fire Emblem just drew more attention to it. I'm sure there's people with backer characters in the game who don't even want anything to do with it now.
If you want to do cartoons, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and shitty foreign Pixar knockoffs are your only option. Otherwise you're doing shit like reading audio books or narrating travel plans. A person who wants to do voice work for animation pretty much has to move to LA.
Apparently YongYea has some connections at Disney so...yeah that's probably the reason why I'm not doing it unless that Maplestory Short series I VA'd back when I was 12 bites me in the butt 11 years later.
fuck you
Nice retort to my argument that you've made.
is there a reason California is so expensive?
>PAY FOR MY COLLEGE
Get voice lessons and go to acting school. The only way to really be good at voice acting is to first understand acting in the first place.
STFU
You're both retarded
I'll aim for TX and take a gamble with anime dubs. I don't think I'd survive the cesspool that is CA. If it isn't the ludicrous cost of living there, it'd definitely be killing myself over the snowflakes.
probably taxes
oh man you sure told him!
mmm
How about you shut up you goddamn moron. There's literally no point in trying to be a voice actor. Everyone here is doomed to shitty 9-5s with low pay.
because every single person that steps foot on LA soil turns into either a pedophile or a rapist.
and i'm not ready for atleast one of those things.
