Honestly, Firestar looked *alot* like the Romita style MJ in her civvie clothes.
Why not make an AU/TV series/whatever where MJ eventually becomes Firestar? I'd pay good money to see her have her own plot progression alongside Spiderman growing from a disguntled teenager to a true hero.
Goes from a preppy popular girl who rejects Peter/others, turns out to be a mutant or gets powers in an accident, faces all kinds of fallout from trying to get a handle on them, forms a bond with either Spidey or Pete--one of the identities, and when they both reveal themselves find that they were made for each other?

Also MJ was pissed off about her kissing Peter but Peter didn't do anything to reciprocate because in the 616 universe Firestar is younger than him and at that point I think she was a teen. Especially since Peter and Johnny would refer to the New Warriors as being kids (Didn't stop Johnny from getting together with Namorita though).
Firestar also had a thing for Ben Reilly.
