So we all are in agreement that this show should've ended long ago, but the question is how do you end a show like Simpsons? How you would write the final Simpsons episode?
How to end Simpsons
Other urls found in this thread:
The exact same way they write every other episode, with a short gag at the end about how this is the end of the show. Basically, make no deal of it at all.
Simply, nothing. Ends extremely dull.
divorce and marge marrying ned
The Belcher family urinating on the grave of every member of the core Simpsons family.
Everyone dies. The End.
That's how most modern
Treehouse of Horror segments end
They had no conflict so there's no ends to tie up. Maybe remove the crayon and send Bart to Military school so they can't have anymore material to work with.
simpsons will end without a final episode
basically it will just get its budget cut one day and whatever episode is last out is the finale
In an ideal world, they would have banked Holidays of Future Passed and kept it on the sidelines for an eventual series finale. Because they're not likely to do any better than that episode did... it set an especially high bar that they're going to struggle greatly to equal.
Personally, I'd like to see them try a season-long narrative arc on for size with their final season. They won't do this... but I'd still like to see it.
As it began...with a couch gag
In reverse?
With frosty chocolate milkshakes.
Literally rewind through every single season that took place after the movie. The Simpsons ended with the movie. Nothing more. Ever.
The whole thing was just an elaborate couch gag from beginning to end
Old Homer and Herb beating each other senselessly on top of the Springfield Nuclear Plant.
The perfect way to end
>the episode starts at Christmas 1989
>time progresses over course of episode
>we see how the simpsons interacted with history (9/11, Bart goes to military, etc)
>all events relate to the theme of family
>episode ends in current year with all characters at the age they’d be today
>whole family comes together and reminisce on their life
>torch passed to next generation
>leaves you with good and somber feeling
No, only fags think that.
Grandpa dying.
Bittersweet ending with the family and friends coming together to help Homer.
Not somber. Let’s say, nostalgic
This. Dan Castellaneta will die and that will be it.
I guess if it was literally how I would do it, like ME, I'd do something weird/edgy to make it stand out and possibly get some attention despite the last couple decades of everyone bitching about the show. Just dumb shit like:
>everyone dies
>Marge reaches her limit and just leaves Homer
>the entire series was ACKSHULLY just a dream or something from the 1987-era Ullman shorts Homer or fictional Matt Groening or a Life in Hell rabbit or some shit
Most likely the last one though, since the first two are obviously 2edgy and would just make everyone somehow hate the show more. I guess even the last is potentially "disrespectful" toward its legacy but at least is enough of a twist to maybe not be viewed as negatively.
For the same reasons I'd guess the actual last episode, whatever it may be, also wouldn't be that out there because of potential audience backlash, like even more than the standard. I don't think there's any real way for it to be surprising though either, because like every possible ending, including the above scenarios, have been predicted before.
Really I feel like the most likely option is just it being canceled unexpectedly and ending on some typical Season 3X episode (possibly with the very last scene slightly edited to make it feel more "final") or the second movie, if it ever even gets made, serving as a finale.
I didnt hate this.
Having a “what if it was on this long and the major story beats actually affected continuity and they aged” sort of nostalgic ending.
They should do the final season as this. Just each ep covers old ground and jumps a few years. Id actually watch it for the first time since the damn movie.
BASED!
A bloody end for Homer Simpson
You know how Fox has a weird way of counting Simpsons episodes? They refuse to count a couple of them, making the amount of episodes inconsistent. The reason for this is a lost episode from season 1. Finding details about this missing episode is difficult, no one who was working on the show at the time likes to talk about it. From what has been pieced together, the lost episode was written entirely by Matt Groening. During production of the first season, Matt started to act strangely. He was very quiet, seemed nervous and morbid. Mentioning this to anyone who was present results in them getting very angry, and forbidding you to ever mention it to Matt.
I would have a shorter, final season with each episode written by a small combination of previous writers from the last few decades. Have each of them write their final episode. Even have previous animators provide key frames/ art direction for older art styles from each writing group's era.
NO cameos, NO zombie Simpsons style pop-culture parodies, NO turning to the camera and thanking the audience or some flash-forward that shows Lisa as first dyke president or whatever. Have each episode be self-contained in a way that the season can be viewed in any order and be satisfactorily seen as the last episode ever.
And bring back Apu
The final episode will be an hour long, and it'll be full of outrageous shit. Marge will be cuckolding Homer with every single celebrity guest that's ever been on the show (even the dead ones), with the entire episode just being Marge getting fucked one by one while Homer just sits in the corner, crying as he jerks off and eats a sandwich.
The B-plot will be Lisa becoming transgender, then kicking Bart in the balls nonstop. No cutaways or anything, it's literally just Lester (FtM Lisa) kicking Bart in the balls while screaming about he needs to check his cis white male privilege. Every single person in Springfield will take her side, especially the celebrity guests who are fucking Marge.
It ends with the Simpsons insulting the viewers for being such fucking idiots for continuing to keep them on the air, then they all have an incestuous orgy right in the middle of the living room before vomiting all over each other and slicing their throats. Dr Nick pokes his head in and says "BYE EVERYBODY!", because "LOL REMEMBER WHEN THAT JOKE WAS RELEVANT? XD". Also, he's getting raped by Moe right outside the Simpsons house. Then the Chinese baby walks on screen, waves her hands, and says "That's all, folks!"
The next 40 minutes are just the writers giving up: videos of them shitting on each other, having a huge orgy while covered in shit, footage of people getting shot in the head, footage of babies being skinned alive and fucked, etc. You name it, they have it all. The final 10 minutes are just Matt Groening high as balls on every drug imaginable, screaming into the camera about how much he hates his life before pulling out a shotgun and blowing his fucking brains out all over the wall.
It'll end up being so viewed and talked about, that it renews the Simpsons for another 10 seasons.
