There’s an episode where the description is something like “Reggie gets a crush on a girl at school and it distracts her.” In the episode itself, Reggie sees a cute girl, and starts stuttering and dropping her spaghetti hard in what is clearly meant to be awkward romantic attraction.

But, Reggie never, like, has daydreams about kissing her or tries to ask her on a date to a gay pride rally or anything. So it’s not entirely clear if Reggie even realizes she has a gay crush. The attraction itself is still explicit, but there’s room for ambiguity. And then the plot just kinda moves on and nothing comes of it.

Endless is your basic everything is great but staying to long is very very bad magic land, its hinted that Bethune itself is connected to the place as they meet a kid from the twenties who ran away there after his mother died. The Butt Witch hints that the island is attuned to whoever owns it and the reason everything is crazy and random is because thats how Reggie wants it.

I think Reggie would be just as fucked up without Endless. Endless just makes it a hell of a lot easier for her to withdraw and live in her delusions. If she didn’t have Endless, she’d probably just be on the internet all day doing the same thing.

Endless is kind of insidious actually. The Spring Break episode and the Stranger episode shows it steals your normal thoughts and personality the longer you're there. To me, this implies Dr. Champion isn't just some random creature born from the island and is actually a dude from Kentucky that's been there too long.

The show could probably build on the lore if it wanted to, but honestly it seems like it won’t, and that’s probably for the best. They do however confirm that it’s not just the main character, but that other kids can end up in the fantasy land too all on their own, if they feel lost enough. Also the phenomena may or may not be contained to the children of this one random town in Iowa. Unless maybe it happened to some other guy from Kentucky once.
