King's Batman

I fucking hated Aaron's run so much and it actually makes me irritated that some normies prefer his or Cates' runs over Waid's

Sandman around the time Byrne was working on the Spider-Man comics

Brand New Day/Slott era as a whole for Spider-Man

Waid sucks.

I didn't mean just bad runs. I meant stuff like Dr. Strange or Ghost Rider turning from story/plot driven characters into generic super heroes

Fuck off, his current arc is probably the best the character got since the 90s, and is pretty much on par with classic Strange

And those happen because of bad runs/events, but can be restored with the right writer

>turning from story/plot driven characters into generic super heroes
Can you elaborate what you think the difference is?

the generic superheroes are characters with stories that are defined by the battles with their villains. Old Strange stories were magical science fiction with over the top plots like recreation of our world, while ghost rider was used for horror inspired stories. In a way, villains they fought were created to match certain themes that were associated with heroes. In a generic superhero approach, the themes are dictated by a villain. Like that Aarons' OC that had all the magic dying.

You are an idiot.

Post-Superior Slott.

The one thing I will never forget about Aaron's Strange run is how they were always complaining about how hard it was to get around without magic, and how there was nowhere for them to hide, while there was a mutant teleporter, with her own personal hell dimension, standing five feet away from Strange, nearly the entire time.

You’ll love the current arc then

Also, to be fair not all old stories are like that. Some are relatively grounded. I’m also erring at your villains point. I feel it’s hard to distinguish when a villain is created to match a theme or create one, although the stupid ass robot magic killer obviously falls to the latter. Like, what about Dormammu in the dark wars?

You don’t get it limbo is obviously dead because of reasons.

And fuck, while the “earth has a finite source of magic” does have some precedence in the sis-neg arc, how it worked was completely different and the more they killed, the more powerful the remaining sorcerers become. Plus, most of it still comes from higher powers that sometimes literally can’t fucking die

It also wastes a potentially good premise as well, seeing Strange try to negotiate borrowing magic from more hostile entities would be great but nooo, gotta turn him into a second rate mess of John and Tony Stark

Yes, Strange getting his mojo back too fast is possibly the one issue I have with Waid's run.
I would have loved to see more of Strange getting contracts, pacts and whatever from out-of-Earth

I would have liked it to go on longer if we didn’t JUST deal with multiple de-powering arcs for him. So I was glad when he was returned to full strength quickly

Well, you posted one.
