Are there any comics like Berserk?
Are there any comics like Berserk?
>Are there any comics like Berserk?
Series where the creator fucked off and never finished it? Sure, we have plenty.
Vinland Saga.
Witch Doctor has been on almost a ten year hiatus. Does that count?
Slaine!
Requiem Chevalier Vampire
Nemesis the Warlock
Elric comics with P. Craig Russel
maybe old Conan comics
Wrath of the Eternal Warrior?
I guess so but why would you want to read crap?
Berserk has nice art but guts looks like it was written by a 15yo edgy kid, I can't stand him.
Guts hasn't been edgy for literally decades
Hellboy
If you're specifically looking for the hero to suffer constantly, Matt Wagner's Mage series. That finally ended last February after 35 years. Unlike Berserk, which will see the heat death of the sun and still not have a conclusion
Conan is one of the inspirations for Berserk.
>Requiem Chevalier Vampire
Apart from graphic content and a dystopian setting they aren't alike.
Yes, there are many overrated edgy comics.
I read the first two volumes and couldn't go any futher, not even passing away Gut's edgy monologues makes it more passable.
Anyone who calls it edgy hasn't read it or lacks critical reading ability
"Edgy" is all style and no substance, Berserk has more substance than the majority of comics
Unsounded is fantasy, great art and gets pretty gory at times
unsoundedcomic.com
Oh geez, you don't know what the hell edgy means. Sad.
Edgy means "on the edge of what's acceptable"
By that metric Berserk is edgy
I bet you think Lolita is edgy
This.
Why is edge used as an insult anyway? Something can be edgy and bad like Nemesis or edgy and good like Dorohedoro
Subterra.
Moving Fortress.
North Landers.
Cerebus.
Alex Alice Siegfried.
That one with Elric and his demon sword.
Millennials are sheltered as fuck. They can't bear anything outside of their funko pops, trigger warning, adult coloring books, nostalgia, avacado toast, Disney princess movies and Disneyland(as adults).
okay there Humbert Humbert.
>misanthropic mercenary unwittingly aids in the rise of a tyrant
>multiple ascensions in to the heavens
>reclusive creator
Cerebus is bizarro Berserk.
Oh shut up. You are a millenial.
Its a fad
Once people get sick of the post irony culture we will go back to Sincerity
For now you can just sit back and laugh at all the Zoomers who are too scared to like any unironically
Cerebus is one of those series that resembles Berserk on the surface but is very different if you look beyond that.
Cerebus and Berserk are mostly similar because they both take from Conan.
I don't think there is a manga that is similar to Cerebus, that is in being a sharp absurdist satire with rotating themes and genres.
He gets better
>Are there any comics like Berserk?
not a single one.
>people unironically think that Guts was actually edgy in the black swordsman arc
Literal retards. Stick to detective comics or marvelshit.
"CarroƱero", a spaniard comic by Vicente Montalba and Rihard Vilbor.
It's an early Golden Age Arc with a washed up Corkus instead of Guts as the MC. Okay, I lied. It's more like young "Conan" than Berserk-like
What's wrong with Miura?
Edge is used as an insult because it belies immaturity and lack of imagination. If something is really edgy, that tends to mean that it has nothing to actually say or anything to sell itself on aside from cheap shock value. "Look how mature I am as I shove these puppies into a blender, this aint your childrens cartoons where everything is sunshine and rainbows. IM AN ADULT. THIS IS A MATURE COMIC FOR ADULTS LIKE ME."
So edge gets taken as a shorthand for someone trying too hard to be mature and associating that with all of the things that get rated R instead of actually having any kind of functional adult story. Edgy fiction is typically most popular with people in the 12-16 year old age bracket, because most people grow out of that phase and realize how lame edge really is.
Who is the target audience?
Idolmaster scarred his mimd
Except edge gets thrown at everything that has gore and/or sexual content. And i believe that you can blend puppies in the most graphic ways possible and still have a good story if it contributed to the plot or the tone of the narrative.
Even Vinland isn't safe.
Neither is Vagabond.
The rape horse make all these years worth.
Most recently he's not even mad about shit anymore. He's completely accepted everything that happened to him. Smiling and all that.
ubelblat?
>Zoomers who are too scared to like any unironically
I blame CinemaSins and the youtube plothole nitpicky subculture
>"You like that? But there is a long list of stupid nitpicky bullshit to complain about!"
>I blame CinemaSins and the youtube plothole nitpicky subculture
personally i blame Joss Whedon but you can't really pin it on any one person. Years of writers trying to be ironic and self aware have scared people away from sincerity.
Berserk.
Stop with the Yea Forums threads already
Sure.
There is a lot of shock value crap out there that tries to seem smarter than it is.
Based
>Hellboy
>Mage
Those are good.
OP asked for comics like Berserk.
>Lolita
Hmmm
>unreliable narrator marries a woman so he can get at the daughter
>plots to kill wife
>wife finds out about his obsession, gets killed in an "accident"
>kidnaps 11-y-o stepdaughter from summer camp
>rapes her several times while on the run cross-country
>she finally gives him the slip, with assistance of a dude she was apparently in love with
>he spends years leeching off of a wealthy drunk
>he murders the guy who helped her escape
Perfectly pedestrian.
Remember the hype when this came out?
So this is your brain on Idolm@ster?
