How does it feel that no one gives a shit about letterers when their job is done well, yet instantly notice when it's done badly?

How does it feel to work for a dying company?

Can you tell us what you're going to work on?

Where are the diamonds?

How long until you fuck up and Marvel fires your ass?

what mental illnesses did you put on your resume? what did you select for your gender/race?

Congrats. Now do me proud and make sfx like the ones in Incredible Hercules.

How'd you get the job?

What are the best lettering and worst lettering jobs you've seen in comics?

Congratulations, OP! Hope you do great and have good times. Thank you for sharing your accomplishment with us. We're all proud of you!

Do your best!

Do you get paid a standard fee per issue or per page?

At rebellion it was per page. Some times there would be 6 pages of TL;DR then other times there would be 6 pages of near nothingness and the pay would be the same.

Fine by me. Some jobs are done best when most people don’t even notice there was a job to do.

IMO Marvel could literally sell no comics and they’d still make them to keep the licenses for movies at this point, no biggie. They still sell pretty well anyway.

Best not

I’m a mixed brown girl lol, it never came up

Per issue, I’m on a limited contract right now so hopefully it’ll get extended

Dave Sim is probably the guy who’s done my favourite lettering of all time in Cerebus, Although obviously he’s the artist too.

As an example of what I consider shitty lettering... probably the Baby’s in Black comic, pic related

Applied, a loooong time later heard back

That lettering is yuck

>Applied, a loooong time later heard back
That simple huh? Well congrats on getting the job.

How to develop the skills of a good letterer? I kinda want to do it so my local creators can put out something that doesn't have shit lettering.

Gib me a job pls, I am an artist

Do you worship the spirit of Sam Rosen?

Nice

But that's not DC? I don't even ...

He said he works for Marvel, not DC.

What does Stan Lee 2.0's dick taste like?

Congrats on becoming part of one of the most culturally irrelevant things next to pro wrestling and card games

>card games
We talking about MTG or YuGiOh because buddy do I have some news for you!

Stinky neckbeard games aren't popular just because your hole in the wall comic shop hosts weekend tournaments

Are you paid by words?
Did people who work with Bendis became insane by the sea of words he wrote?

Dilate

Just like DC.

is it true that they have an entire room full of stools for people stand on and an on-call tailer to let down pants so folks can't tell you are wearing lifts?

Ben Oda>Tom Orzechowski

So wait, do you write by hand or just type and put the words into speech bubbles ? Any retard could do that, is it a livable job?

What program do you normally use? Why are most of you guys so terrible at your job that 95% of the time text is not in the middle of a bubble, but always a bit to the side (no matter which side)?

>gets chance to ask Yea Forums questions
>prefers to shitpost about politics instead
>i-im totally not a summer newfag

>politics instead

Congratulations on getting a job. Lettering is underrated in mainstream comics. Do you have any desire to do anything in comics outside of lettering?

I write and draw art on the side, so at one point I’ll try and have a crack at making a self made indy comic. Something about rape

I don't know what excuse professionals have, but amateurs are usually working with free or pirated fonts, and it takes more time and effort than you'd think if you want to get that shit pixel-perfect centered the way the letters are formed and autowrap.
Most people(myself included) get as close as seems reasonable and non-frustrating, good enough, and move onwards.

Whore

Thats all jobs really. Sometimes when you do something right, people will think you've done nothing at all.

Was this legitimately necessary? I ask you.

Upper or lower case?

That's DC you moron

why would i want to read shitty marvel comics?

you ever get fits of perfectionism where you place the text but then look at it and think it could be placed a little better, and move it a couple pixels to the left, then a couple pixels up, then you think it's shit and end up moving the text back where it was but still kinda don't like it? I'm a pirate scanlator translating comics to my native language and I get these occasionally.

Do secret sneedpost pls

Is it really dying or is it troll shitposting?

You ever do anything cool or unique with your lettering? Make an original font or something?

June 2019 sales report.

I don't think she's allowed to.

Not quite: Letterers often make their own sound effects and similar, it's part of the process. Some artists do them themselves but oftentimes it's the letterer who conveys the mood of the scene by adding their own effects.

does the mouse use a condom when it fuccus the tuccus or is it just prep and a prayer

tha is not a question faggot

Hey! Pro wrestling was relevant 20 years ago.
Also this

It still is

Why would you post it to Yea Forums? You're probably the only person who JUST got hired by Marvel as a letterer. You really want them to know you're an avid Yea Forums user?

What's your opinion on comic sans

Yea Forums is love.

Who is your favorite character?

any resources you'd reccomend foy people trying to get better at lettering?

What's the font used in most Marvel comics?

>flooding and overshipping = being alive

When you get your checks from Marvel. Do they have a super hero on them?

Agreed, which is why DC is definitely in shambles.
No, Marvel has only overshipped two titles max per month, and it's been smaller titles that required the push. You can go check with any retailer.

No, you post the proof, necrophile.

Not sure what the "necrophile" thing was about, but gladly:
bleedingcool.com/2019/07/03/marvel-comics-to-overship-invisible-woman-1-by-100-reduce-loki-1-overship-by-50/

>Once upon a time, Marvel Comics regularly overshipped certain titles. The idea was that comic book retailers were a ‘small-c’ conservative lot and ordered what they thought they could sell. Overshipping was intended to give retailers the opportunity to discover that maybe they could sell a few more and so they would up their orders for subsequent issues. Or maybe engage in passing free samples on to customers, and get some more orders for future issues as a result.

>It also had the side-benefit of upping Marvel’s numbers in Diamond Comic Distributor’s monthly statistics. For unit ranking and market share at least, if not for dollar ranking and market share.

>Bleeding Cool first reported on Marvel doing this back in 2012 and it came and went sporadically since. When it happened, again and again, we ran articles about it. But it hasn’t happened to any statistically significant degree for a couple of years now.

>But of late we’ve had it happen to about one or two books a month. Not enough to make any major statistical shifts. But maybe enough to help new titles launch.

How does the process? As in, does Marvel just send you the pages and you use a program for the lettering or do you have to go to the building where marvel editors work ?

*process work

Is this really going to be your answer? Seriously pal?
Just sit down for a second here, and tell me: Are you gonna ignore the fact that they've reported every single time Marvel has overshipped but not when they stopped doing so (for years), just to push a narrative?
And I mean we aren't talking about Cosmic Book News, We Got This Covered or Bounding Into Comics here; for all its faults BC at least has a semblance of sourcing. But please, do go ahead and pretend you're right, it's as transparent as it gets.

Hi Rich, still diddling your children?

Is it you or the writer that decides which words are going to be bold? because I often feel like bold words are used for no reason at all in most comics.

Okay then. I accept your defeat.

i think op wised up and fucked off. shame

Congrats on winning an online debate, user. Add it to your resume asap.

You're not allowed to stand up to them, they'll just say you're one of them.

Will I ever get married?

>pulling stuff out of his ass

Your seething when DC will crumble will be so sweet.

The fuck is a letterer supposed to do?

You know the little words inside the speech bubbles? They put them there.

Oh.

Think Marvel made a mistake by not doing Spider-Man 4 as a comic?

He's my second favorite Undertale character

Caps Comicrazy

Did you try looking for a job at DC too?
