It was incredibly racist
Gotta admit the light humor was funny
But it was incredibly racist

Memin is no longer acceptable in the current year, sir
Now even the Negrito bread had to be renamed Nito

Give him a redesign and he will get more love, or at least, less hate.

but user, united states thinks this is racist

By the way, read Marvel's segregated team of asians and their segregated team of blacks and their segregated team of women, all published within the last 5 years. My how far we've come.

dont know what it says but always a sucker for painted cover art

the mexican spider man comics were superior

I still can't believe that the guy who made these now works for Marvel, freaking follow your dreams bros

To be fair the only racist Memin comic is number 128, when they travel to the deep south.

>Negrito bread
Can you elaborate user?

This is another user. Bimbo has these chocolate pastries called Nitos. They used to be called Negritos because well, they are black. Negrito loosely translates to blacky. SJWs forced Bimbo to change the name because they felt it made fun of black people. Hence why the name change.

Its funny. The most offensive thing the commercials did was the afro iirc, which means they were inoffensive

that was the 90's version, the original negrito was all about stereotypes, I kind of remember one ad going about a voice over saying "compra negrito bimbo" and a black-faced man saying "como yo!" (buy negrito, just like me!) the funny thing is, Bimbo changed the name to "nito" which doesn't mean anything just from one day to another, no big announcement, no prior ads, nothing and when questioned the company just replied with something like "fuck you guys, that's the new name"

I remember something about the bread finally going international, chicken out about backlash at last minute and just rename it with something retarded

This is my dad's comic as a kid. He actually passed me along a few.

and suddenly all that ItSV Spider-Gwen fan-art makes all the sense in the world.

It says "all this pulling for my tushy?"
But it's meant to rhyme, so the fun is lost in translation.
Yeah, Oscar Bazaldúa is a genius. I have a whole collection of Chambeadoras, though the inner art isn't as good as the covers he made (though sometimes they come close). Still better than a lot of Zenescope/Boundless shit that's for sure.

Reminder that audiences in the future will view Miles Morales the same way we view this character today.

beloved by mexicans?

wtf why is jameson raping spiderman on the cover

>SJWs forced Bimbo to change the name because they felt it made fun of black people
I'm laughing at you.

What's so funny? Please elborate.

Not him but the idea is pretty stupid. You can fucking tell it's a racist caricature of yesteryear (same as every other one posted here) but some of you are pretending it's just sjws or some shit complaining. I mean dude this one literally says "shitting nigger" , there's absolutely nothing endearing about any of this.

>negro means "nigger"
It means black. Nigger means nigger.

There's no direct equivalent to "nigger" in Spanish, it would literally mean "black", because that's the only meaning of the word as a slur. So the only way to translate it is by using contextual cues, and I can fucking assure you, the way the word is used in that appalling toy is certainly "nigger".

Because they say "nigger" when they mean to call someone a nigger. You act like foreigners don't adopt English phrases.

The fuck? No, dumbass. "Negro" is also used derogatorily and it means the exact same thing as the ethnicity and the color, there's no difference beyond the context that lets people know when it's an insult and when it isn't. Are you seriously trying to lecture me on my first language?

Don't people of African descent in Central/South America still like Memin?

Yes.

Absolutely nobody likes that shit, I would say I'm surprised to see it resurfacing but then again I'm in Yea Forums so obviously you'd find the worst shit to post about and pretend it was well liked in some fictional golden era. I don't think even back then it was received kindly because everyone saw it for what it was, it's just that we don't have the same relationship with races Americans have, so often claims of racism go unaddressed...
Not anymore however.

Sure, the pickaninny caricature stems from racism, but the actual content isn't some malicious attack on black people you seem to think it is. Most of the characters who discriminated against him were portrayed as ignorant or in the wrong, and it did bring racial issues to the collective conscience.

>the racist caricature wasn't actually racist because it was used positively
Not how it works pal.

>le heroic white man standing for the monkey man

That is how liberals see themselves, the fact this is mexican is even more funny.

>Ethnocentrism intensifies
Not every country is America and used those caricatures to tear down black people. You can't divorce racism from intent.

I once heard that the true reason of why bimbo changed the name was because they were selling those in the border and the name sounded wrong for americans.

>college mestizo leftists telling black people to get offended
From all the things to import from the US...

I'm not talking about America. I'm Venezuelan currently living in Venezuela, i'm talking by experience regarding these racist caricatures as we've seen them in the region, not from an American perception. So no there's no "positive portrayal" of a bad stereotype simply because it wasn't made with that original intent. If it's bad, it's bad.
Because if we get into it, minstrel shows with blackface weren't actually "racist" because the singers were just doing a character, right?
Not even close, try again.

>because it wasn't made with that original intent. If it's bad, it's bad.
You can't possibly say that racism is divorced from context. A black guy calling his friend nagger is the same as it being said by an angry white cop?

Also it's quite unsurprising to see 4channers trying to defend the use of this character but I would've expected more honesty, instead of trying to come up with false pretenses to justify it. Like I said, nobody fucking likes that shit, it's appalling, and white gringos are as transparent as it gets trying to make an argument about sjws and PC culture when addressing shit that shouldn't have been made in first place. Or what, are you gonna claim this is funny and innocent?

Of course there's a context, and the only possible context with the character is to make fun of blacks. The fuck are you trying to defend here?

>Or what, are you gonna claim this is funny and innocent?
It is. Cagones are made about everybody. You're fighting really hard to be offended in the name of other people.

Attached: cagones-05.jpg (400x432, 21K)

I'm brown you imbecile. You're not going to tell me what I can't be offended by. Just because they make fun of everything doesn't make it less racist, dumbass. What kind of stupid argument is that?

>You're not going to tell me what I can't be offended by.
Oh, no, feel free to be offended in the name of other people. I'm just saying you're an idiot for doing so.
Especially when your arguments consists of "it happens to all races therefore it's racist".

Are you drunk? Because neither of those things were said or implied.

Yes you did, user.
>Just because they make fun of everything doesn't make it less racist
If they don't discriminate based on race, then by definition they aren't racist.

>If they don't discriminate based on race, then by definition they aren't racist.
Yep, you're definitely drunk AND high.

Ok be offended. That's on you. That's your problem, not anybody else's. Your astounding fucking ignorance offends me.

>minstrel shows with blackface weren't actually "racist" because the singers were just doing a character, right?
Context matters. Most minstrel shows were racist and existed to make white people feel better about themselves. Some blackface performers like Al Jolson however fought against discrimination and promoted black artists when no one else would.

>I'm brown you imbecile. You're not going to tell me what I can't be offended by.
You come to a Hispanic thread, where it's likely that most posters are Hispanic, and you think you'll get extra points for being brown?

As a some one who lives in Colombia let tell you if i was to show this to one of my black buddies he would laugh and would think it was funny

people in Venezuela would not give a fuck about this since they have bigger fucken issue to deal with like not having food or medicine to take care of them self alao I bet you get called a fag by every one you know maricón triste

also this comic was made by a women who grew up in poverty and the name of the charter was based on her boy friend also unlike most female artist today she looks pretty

>You're not going to tell me what I can't be offended by
No, but you're on Yea Forums you dingus, don't expect anyone not to shit on you for being offended.over old racist toys.

Well Germany has a chocolate ice cream named Nogger... still... and noone complains.

Noone complains, a novelty to the US, I know.

Often see these in Turkish kiosks in Denmark. Negro biscuits.

Attached: 43432423.jpg (259x194, 7K)

I went on a tour of a bakery in germany and the head chef had a little picture of two ducklings on his workstation, one yellow and one black.
The yellow duckling was calling the black one a nigger.
That's it, and nobody had a problem with it.

Negro just means black as in the color and people in Spanish speaking countries still reffer to black people as negros because they have dark skin.

Negrito is just a term of endearment for black people or dark skinned people. Also while I agree that Memin has racist features his comic dealt with some anti-racist stories and most Mexicans love the character and argued against peoole who wanted the character to go away for good.

Hell the Mexican Memin stamps that were a controversy in the US and that the US Post Office said they weren't going to accept for international shipping, fucking sold out in part because Americans crossed the border to buy them.

You have poor grasp of your first language then.

I had a bunch of memin pinguin comics but I especially remember reading one that ended with a cliffhanger. The gang goes to the house of the poor kids and they see something that make them gasp. I wonder to this day what's what they saw.

Attached: 1560258293192.jpg (564x564, 45K)

if you were really from "venezuela", you'd know that nobody uses this word over here

Lol wasn't Hugo Chavez of Afro descent? And some Venezuelans that didn't like him called him " Miko mandante" also there was the Monkey coffee shop that a Venezuelan couple put up.
