Owen Dennis (Infinity train creator)'s rant about cartoons.
Owen Dennis (Infinity train creator)'s rant about cartoons
Seems pretty far up his own ass
I don't think he had a response to the replies bringing up flash cartoons like 12 oz Mouse that are done by a couple of guys.
He’s a bit grumpy
The industry is brimming with nepotism. It's so tiny, nobody wants to openly say so much as I, "I didn't like this show" because they're terrified someone will read it on their social media and be passed on for a job. Everyone works for everyone, so if you aren't kissing each other's ass and saying what a great job everyone is doing, you're going to be deemed as the overly critical buzzkill that nobody wants to work with. The few artists who have that mentality are outside of the usual industry crowd for a reason.
How long until a parallel industry bursts up and starts supplanting the economic power of the first
Wow, what a pretentious bitch.
I still prefer replies like which at least implies that cartoons can be bad, rather then , where they basically treat cartoons as immune from criticism.
This is why Infinity Train is doomed to fail.
what a retard
man he has very low standards for what counts as a "miracle"
THIS
H
I
S
>farts out mouth
oh the irony
>MUH FRIENDS
Fuck these people.
Consider the miracle of childbirth
This. There's a fucking reason why the only people who were defending the total garbage that was Roar were people in the industry.
Has to be in some other place that they find repellent.
The American South is a good candidate.
Why anonymity is important on the net. Or be talented and not give a fuck.
I remember when the internet fucking launched and for a long time up until around MySpace, it was common practice to, "NEVER put your real name on the internet!". You would never put your pictures, your age in your username, or even reveal what gender you were I guess so women can avoid creeps.
Now people put their fucking home address and break NDA willy nilly to show off that they have an animation job. It's crazy.
I asked this dude a question on tumblr, (a fairly innocuous one at that), and he got pretty steamed and didnt even answer the more important part
What was the question if you don’t mind me asking.
>GRUG WORK HARD THAT MEAN GRUG DO GOOD
And he probably calls fans entitled
Sounds like every animator and the majority of Yea Forums. Arrogant, out of touch, and never worked on anything meaningful in their lives,
i need to find it. this was like 2 years ago.
if memory serves, i was wondering if there was going to be any shipping nonsense in it and whether there would be a sub or a sub for other lanuages
What a fucking worthless piece of garbage.
sub or a dub for other languages*
>outing yourself as a huge man child
What else was this supposed to accomplish? The idea a cartoon can't be fucking awful because "ohhh I had a hard time farming this out to a Korean animation sweat shop aaahhhhhhh!" is retarded. Noodle arm animation is low-effort compared to what's come before, full stop.
> "ohhh I had a hard time farming this out to a Korean animation sweat shop aaahhhhhhh!"
that's a problem i have with a lot of """animators"""
animators are some of the greatest misdirection artists. in the world. they all wanly smile and pretend they are the ones who animate their own works, but nearly 100% of the time, there is no "in house" animation, it's all outsourced to other countries. people who do the inbetweens or cleanup or storyboards or make the backgrounds deserve more praise for bringing an idea to life more than the "idea guy" who came up with it. then everyone fellates them on twitter about how they "animated things so well"
Imagine this standard with literally any other job
>This app doesn't work at all
>Yeah, but people worked on it!
Let's see him defend things like The Christmas Tree or any of that stuff Phelous reviews.
Isn't this really old news?
I could swear we've had this thread before.
A shame. I liked what I saw of IT, and I'll probably still watch it, but this most assuredly does not help my opinion of him.
I don't blame you.
It's a miracle that someone from across the world can tell you your cartoon is shit and should have thought thrice about making it, with lazy and unappealing designs, immediately after it premieres. Think about it. It's crazy, if you were born enough time ago.
(I mean, investors should have had the common sense to have seen that and told you in person already)
Not even bashing Infinity Train, I was curious about the pilot.
So it's just more of the same old
>You didn't make it, therefore you cannot criticize it!
I wonder if he has said anything negative about a movie at some point in the past before on that same account
Link? who is saying this? I'm confused.
Bringing it up again since people are intrested in Infinity Train again.
Is it true that Yea Forums is often visited by a lot of people in the American animation industry? I heard about that once, and I heard that we were a big amplifier of the negative reaction to Thundercats Roar. But is it true?
Ian jones Quarty of OK KO goes on Yea Forums, there were a few others but I forgot.
The content can be good even if the creator is a douche nozzle. It all depends on if the audience can separate art from artist.
But the rant certainly does not work favorably for it
>assuming it’s going to be so well received and wide spread that you won’t be able to keep up
There’s confidant. Then there’s cocky.
Just saying
Was he drunk when he wrote this?
How does an insecure autistic retard like this guy even gather up the courage to even pitch to a group of people to begin with.
Animators like cartoons too, so do the math.
Some folks who browsed threads here about certain shows eventually joined the crew for later seasons, for instance.
Isn't this 100 years old
Is...Owen ok?
Theres probably somepeople lurking, ut really no one want to be associated whit Yea Forums right now, we are not "the good guys" in the current media narrative, so you arent going to hear much from them
No one gives a shit.
The man's face is exactly the face I think of when I see edgy posts.
>It's edgy to admit you browse Yea Forums
Admitting you browse Yea Forums is a more heinous admission.
Fucking YIKES
Roger Ebert once mentioned he knew a producer who would go to premiers for movies and applaud every film no matter how bad because he knew how difficult it was for any movie to get made in the first place.
rebecca sugar and ian jq do because they're old school SA goons
>wanting to work with yes men
Really? Usernames?
Robert Ebert was the worst part of the duo
Cartoon creators are all mentally ill, seriusly, even rebbeca sugar has problems, what's wrong with this industry?
>usernames on Yea Forums
i think ian's is magicskeleton or some shit, you could probably just google it
>buhhhhhhh don’t call that piece of shit a piece of shit it hurts my onionboy feelings :(
SA you fag
So was Hirsch I think
Natasha Allegri used to heavily browse Yea Forums too when she was working on Adventure Time.
In fact, without Yea Forums, Fionna and Cake would not exist as we know them. That sounds like bragging, but it's true. This board helped come up with the specifics of a lot of the genderswaps.
Justin Roiland also wrote stuff for the Encyclopedia Dramatica before its original shutdown
it would make sense since they can't bash on shitty shows in public they probably vent here
Seething
Just cause these lazy Cali fucks can't put down their phones for two seconds to stop tweeting doesn't mean getting your job done at an animation studio is a miracle.
Yea Forums is like super smash bros ultimate, everyone is here. Every other cartoon and/or comic forum does nothing but brown nose and suck dick while this place has no issuing telling you when something is crap.
You don’t know how rare and valuable it is to get genuine negative feedback on the net these days when everyone always has to play nice.

Why don't people just make alternate accounts to shit on things
For the love of God I wish that would happen. I don't get why we don't have animation places in areas that don't cost an arm and a leg. I know it's most likely because locations they're in means it's easier to bump shoulders with people in TV or movies.
Assassin's Creed games are the best because hundreds of people around the world work on them
I hope his show fails.
>A fucking storyboard revisionist flaunting their "power"
>I'm gonna block off any form of contact just so I won't face any criticism if my show turns out bad cuz MUH MENTAL HEALTH
What an absolute fucking pussy. I regret ever giving attention to any of his work.
You should see this as an opportunity, Yea Forums, you can get your idea for a cartoon on the air for knowing the right people; all you have to do is find them. I'm still hoping and searching for the day I get welcomed into the nepotism ring.
That's literally every job in every industry, you fucking idiot.
I can't imagine the luxury of proclaiming you hate your job and your boss is an idiot on your twitter and not getting fired the next day. Because that shit happens.
"This cartoon was shit and the studio who made it is a bunch of idiots. Now pls hire me!" Yeah, why exactly do you think that should happen? Some seriously dumb people here.
You're right, user. There is absolutely nobody in the restaurant business who ever shits on another restaurant on social media, ever. And absolutely no actors or comedians or filmmakers who criticize other people's work in their field.
We're not talking about people insulting their fucking boss, you idiot. We're talking about people who can't even go as far as to say, "I think this other cartoon I don't work on is really bad" because people in the industry are so sensitive, they take that as a sign that "you don't want to be here".
People Nico didn't even work on the show but defended it to death so much that it actually increased the outrage and he only did it because "muh friends".
