Storytime: LP Lovecraft Shadows over Innsmout

Scanning and translating the rest of the book.
First part was archived: It's more work than I thought. Feel free to MEGA it or something once I'm done. I'm a bit paranoid.

Rule number 1: Everyone is rude and gossippy.

based, welcome back furred friend

Next stop: Molestville.

Attached: 58.jpg (1200x1687, 855K)

The driver kinda looks like an odd black guy.
It's either a clever reference to Lovecrafts prejudice, or a weird decision by the artist.

Attached: 59.jpg (1200x1687, 818K)

Attached: 60.jpg (1200x1687, 921K)

Foreshadowing.

Attached: 61.jpg (1200x1687, 926K)

Mmmpf...

Attached: 62.jpg (1200x1687, 782K)

You ok, man?

Anoncraft don't leave us janging like this

Enough monologue to make Frank Miller jizz.

Attached: 63.jpg (1200x1687, 848K)

I think monologue was the only language old-Howard spoke.

His town doesn't sound any less suspicious.

Attached: 64a.jpg (1200x1687, 721K)

Hey OP you are a fucking champ for scanlating this.

Ipswich sounds either like its code for something, or it Jewish. Either way its suspect.

Its a real town. They have a jazz festival.

Attached: 65.jpg (1200x1687, 1.02M)

>See that guy? He likes that thing you don't!

Fun fact: I wasn't allowed to post using that word for "probable malicious content".

Attached: 66.jpg (1200x1687, 1.02M)

Really gets your noggin' joggin'.

>shoppie and conducter have smaller eyes
>protag has wide ones
that's kind of clever given the twist

Attached: 67.jpg (1200x1687, 854K)

I always wondered as a kid why Zadok stayed in Innsmouth, but I guess people aren't moving out of even-worse shitholes like Detroit and Baltimore.

i guess it's like staying in an abusive relationship, but with a place

this comic is more like an adventure game than a novel

Truth dubs.

i'd read a choose-your-own-adventure lovecraft comic

>page 233 to GO INSANE

The plot thickens. I'm gonna die once I'm done.
Feeling sorry for anyone who scans a doujin.

Attached: 68.jpg (1200x1687, 854K)

>they didn't accurately transcribe his drunken, barely incomprehensible slurring

Thank Cthulu.

Anybody here ever listen to Dark Adventure Radio Theatre? They do radio performances of HP Lovecraft works, and they are really good.

Thanks for continuing. Looking at the archived thread it looks like page 55 pg From Beyond was missed.

Remember that one Digimon episode where Hikari ended up in a strange world ruled by a Cthulhu-mon and there's implied fish rape?

Yeah that happened.

Attached: 69.jpg (1200x1687, 813K)

OH CRAP you're right. Here's the missing page of From Beyond! Thanks for telling me.

Whenever a page is missing between stories by the way, they are blanks.

Attached: 48.jpg (1200x1687, 868K)

That's weird. Maybe they meant to write Dunwich (locale for another creepy story) and someone messed up´?

Dunswich ain't much better.

Maybe theres a fictional Ipswich in the Lovecraftverse. One in Northern England instead of London.

I'm a Lovecraftfag and don't remember any Ipswich mentioned in any story. But Ipswich is a real place and maybe I'm just overthinking this and they just used the name of a real place to stablish the clerk as a fellow foreigner

There is an actual Ipswich in Massachusetts

Oh, well there ya go then.

I didn't realize the page was missing, and I kinda liked how this immensely threatening looking machine kinda came out of nowhere lol.

Talk like people, taste like fish~

Attached: 70.jpg (1200x1687, 825K)

The final panel is hilarious. Imagine that happening to you.

Attached: 71.jpg (1200x1687, 880K)

It's the 20s, for a man in his income bracket it's pretty lousy all over.

/x/-Youtuber, the page.

Attached: 72.jpg (1200x1687, 853K)

Attached: tillinghast.jpg (427x508, 247K)

"Wino-Man, AWAY!"

>"When the wind was right you could clearly hear their chanting..."
>"NORMIES GET OUT REEEEEEE!!!!"

He got on the bus and lived happily ever after. The end.

Does anyone know if it was illegal to sell booze at the time the protagonist bought it?

Attached: 73.jpg (1200x1687, 827K)

No, that's Dagon.

Attached: dagon pepe.jpg (843x690, 279K)

>throw bottle into the sea in the fourth panel
>it bounces off of a Deep One's head

2rad

>Fucking tourists...

If the Battletoads offered me a room for 1 buck, I'd take it.

Also, the hotel is named Gilman. That's hilarious.

Attached: 74.jpg (1200x1687, 881K)

"As a white male of the 20s, I expected more."

Attached: 75.jpg (1200x1687, 897K)

This comic is full of hilarious reaction images

Attached: come stay at the gill-man hotel.jpg (89x107, 9K)

The comic used a German hotel for the joke, so I had to search for a different expensive sounding 1920s hotel. What is my life?!

Attached: 76.jpg (1200x1687, 864K)

Attached: 77.jpg (1200x1687, 896K)

>Candy gram!

Don't blame me, that's his actual dialogue.

Attached: 78.jpg (1200x1687, 909K)

>those last two panels

Whats going on in this threa--oh.

Trust me, it will get way funnier in that regard.

Attached: 79.jpg (1200x1687, 833K)

Attached: 80.jpg (1200x1687, 808K)

Unlike my last thread, I wanted to write "HP Lovecraft" this time. But instead, I again wrote LP and forgot the h in Innsmouth. It's driving me nuts.

Attached: 81.jpg (1200x1687, 1020K)

This motherfucker is the opposite of Batman.

Getting closer to the twist.

Attached: 82.jpg (1200x1687, 746K)

Fun fact: this entire chase sequence was added due to Lovecraft's editor asking for more action sequences in his work because, at the time, pulp adventure stuff was super popular and they wanted Lovecraft to get in on said trend.

>Shadman

Pretty sure Lovecraft time was also Prohibition time.

I refuse to figure out how to put two dots above an i.

Attached: 83.jpg (1200x1687, 794K)

Attached: 84.jpg (1200x1687, 837K)

It's also duplicated in the Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth vidya. High point of the game in fact.

Thats new. I don't think in the story you ever see or hear from the old drunk again.

Don't forget when entering Fishing Hamlet, always keep dodge rolling.

Attached: 85.jpg (1200x1687, 806K)

In a town full of fish-human hybrids, under a bridge is probably the worst place to hide.

Just as well, it's wrong anyway.

Interesting.

I feel like the guy in the comic about now.

Attached: 86.jpg (1200x1687, 876K)

The story is now turning into a Goosebumps episode.

Attached: 87.jpg (1200x1687, 858K)

I'd kill for scrambled eggs right now.

Attached: 88.jpg (1200x1687, 1.03M)

>"It was a bit of a scandal, your grandfather marrying that queer fish-girl."

The funny reaction pics you ordered, user.

Attached: 89.jpg (1200x1687, 1.02M)

Awkward.

Attached: 90.jpg (1200x1687, 818K)

>Your grandmother was such a bitch...
>Because she was a fish woman?
>She's a what now?

So his grandma was a fish-person, it could've been worse.

Attached: the ultimate nightmare.jpg (744x627, 320K)

It's poor form to turn the subtext into actual text, user.

Your grandmother was an actual ape your grandfather fucked was actually a different story from Lovecraft.

>Gilman
>Gill-man

How did I never notice this before?

Did someone bring his wife? Ha ha! 20s humor.

Attached: 91.jpg (1200x1687, 783K)

>nervousness intensifies

He's probably from /pol/, he doesn't get any subtext.

Also: "One of uuus." Almost done.

Attached: 92.jpg (1200x1687, 885K)

Strange wet dreams, unsustainable office situations, anxiety and questioning the own identity and choices.

Is he me?

Attached: 93.jpg (1200x1687, 784K)

He can't be you, he is me!

And this is how I met your mother.
Spoiler for fishtits.

Attached: 94.jpg (1200x1687, 860K)

Waaaay better than living in the lame-ass surface world.

Cthulhu cameo!

Attached: 95.jpg (1200x1687, 894K)

Seems like an omission that the protagonist didn’t have to put a lock on the door himself.

Attached: 96.jpg (1200x1687, 827K)

Attached: 97.jpg (1200x1687, 844K)

I'm obsessed with the second panel. The angle. The pose. The shading. I LOVE it.

But overall, I love the style of shading where you just see glowing eyes or glasses of characters, like in Hellsing.

Attached: 98.jpg (1200x1687, 752K)

I guess sicing the feds on Insmouth would detract from the personal horror vibe the comic was going for.

Thnaks for posting the whole comic, OP. I know it must have been a bitch and a half.

Thats about it. I've spent the whole night and 2 days in total to scan, translate and upload, just out of spite because 8ch banned me for insulting Steven Universe right in the middle of it, and telling me my thread sucks.

That's the kind of cuck I am.

Attached: 99.jpg (1200x1687, 535K)

Close to the end, I started to forget words inbetween. If the text makes no sense (which might be the comic's fault though...), tell me, I will fix it.

Attached: 100.jpg (1492x2097, 3.73M)

Based

The end. Thanks for reading. MEGA it or something lol, I purposefully saved each pic below 1 MB.

I hope one day there will be a sequel to this, but I guess I'm already lucky that a version exists which I was able (trying) to translate.
It's a very indie comic after all.

Attached: 101.jpg (1200x1687, 624K)

Thanks OP, I respect your effort in translating and posting this.

You're doing god's work, but just as a note, the railway man should be saying 'It's just left'

Great thread OP. 8ch is full of ungrateful pricks nowadays, an entitled lot of cunts that can never be satisfied with what they get. So the storytimers, OC creators, and everyone with any sort of talent or commitment to the community has left or at least cut down on the amount of time they spent there. Glad to have you posting somewhere at least, this comic was great and Steven Universe is shit.

Forgot the official seal.

Attached: Bushy PS.png (771x751, 91K)

Thanks, never checked for typos.

Attached: 56.jpg (1200x1687, 1.13M)

There aren't any drawthreads anywhere. They can upload 4 pics at once but there are rarely any storytimes. And some great artists left the places and disappeared whereever.

It's not on the left, though, but it left (he missed it).

"Doesn't" in the the last panel ought to be "wouldn't."
"That" in the 2nd panel should be "This."
Same as above.
First panel, same as above.
Quote-marks are weird here.
"Your you?" should be "you're you?"

I probably had a lot of this and that mixups. I don't care.

Nope sorry, it's "why should you". See what I mean with missing words? I haven't slept since the first post. Thanks, fixed it. The other things, sorry, I'm dying.

The quotation marks, yes, I set them like the original did. Just like how I wrote Whisky first and Whiskey later, the author made that mistake and I copied it.

Attached: 95.jpg (1200x1687, 894K)

>feds
Alan Moore does it in Neonomicon, iirc

It's a different vibe of horror, for sure
HOOORD

I think it's worth mentioning the surname Orne also belongs to Jedediah Orne, an immortal occultist from The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.

>pedochan
You're too good for that shithole, OP. Stay with us.

So is this prequel to Splatoon?

Attached: splatoon_idols.jpg (800x566, 104K)

interesting they drew a woman here when the original story just has female monster/male monster hybrids

which?

based douglas

Thanks for spending all this time doing this!

Here's a mega link of the whole thing. Hope you don't mind I changed the black white levels on the scan and because I'm anal retentive added in the the useless missing pages.

mega.nz/#!C94zyKzD!x3QLs-T0NlSEvZ-DZKmuaUcqjLUQY1iHTzTNAzTtOtI

The 20s were pretty good, it was the 30s that sucked.

The Waldorf Astoria would make a good American hotel reference for that time period that people our age would still get.

Thank you for storytiming, OP. Glad you're here, infinitychan has become everything it once stood against. Hope you stick around and storytime more.
