>has one of the best Spider-man runs on his name
>yet also the worst Spider-man stories
how does that even happen
Has one of the best Spider-man runs on his name
editorial was slacking off and he had Joe Q giving him some really shitty ideas
Which parts of his run are actually good? I read Sins Past, Spider-Totem, and OMD and hated them all so much it turned me off from the rest of his Spidey comics.
JMS was never good. You only think so because of nostalgia
Don’t forget Doctor Doom crying over 9/11 which he recently defended on Twitter, so we can’t blame editorial for that one either
if you want to make something great you have to take risks. they don't always pan out.
The Radioactive gangster arc was neat
The lead up to Morlun with the other magical beasts was cool
He's still defending that? That's hilarious.
Its called Editorial, dumbass.
Different people have different opinions.
Shocking I know.
He's talking about One More Day which was Joey Quesadillas doing. He forced JMS to be involved.
>Yea Forums towards a comic they like
All the bad stuff is because of editorial
>Yea Forums towards a comic they dislike
All the bad stuff is because of the writer
read Birthday
now
It wasn't that bad.
Superman Grounded proved JMS can be a shitty writer on his own without Quesada's help.
>Spider-Totem
People always make dumbass mistakes bringing this up. The ORIGINAL Morlun story never said Spider-Man was a totem, just that the totem also gave this other dude similar powers and Spider-Man could have been either-or. It was also more or less irrelevant afterwards, besides that Other shit.
It was Slott who took it and went full retard.
not just One More Day but The Other too
>The story that actually no joke unironically ruined Spider-Man forever.
>Not that bad
Are you insane?
His run was pretty irregular, you get some great stuff like the first morlun and shatra arcs, Ezekiel and the best characterization of aunt may and you also have terrible shit like sins past, while I think some things can be attributed to editorial meddling i think he is mostly to blame for the bad stories
His run is still one of my favorites though
Sins Past and One More Day were both more or less entirely editorial bullshit, i think.
Joey Q's weird nostalgia boner ruining Spider-Man.
Yea Forums will jump through hoops to apologize for this run for the simple reason that it “isn’t Slott”
>States bullshit and pretends it’s a concrete fact.
Are you a moron?
Oh, I guess the decade with Slott wasn't one of the worst fucking runs for Spider-Man.
That would be correct. There is no definitive “worst run”.
>That would be correct
Fuck off Slott, no one likes you.
Your opinion is wrong.
The comic that got me into comics.
>JMS
Gets the characters, writes good dialogue, can write an engaging story, some of his ideas are pretty bad and doesn't work well with the editorial
>Slott
Doesn't understand the characters, his dialogue is awful, the stories are often filler and rarely pay off the way they should, has solid ideas that can work in talented hands (Remender's Venom, Yost's Scarlet Spider, Into the Spider-Verse, Gage's Superior etc.)
Honestly the 70s and 90s was worse
Proven correctly by
People on this website can only think in binary.
Slott was fine until half way through superior, that’s when he got bitchy at poor response and spent the rest of his waaaay to long run tearing peter down, hence all of the shit with MJ hence no one, not even his own clone realizing he was mind swapped, Hell his “resolution” to Loki’s favor really showed his contempt for everything spidey related, but still everything before that from his was fine
That’s the glorious part. I can still read those comics, but you can bitch and bitch and bitch and it won’t change a motherfucking thing.
I'd rather read the 70's and 90's over Slott's
JMS is only liked because you have nostalgia for your post-Raimi Childhood. Fuck off
Cause JMS is a hack. He peaked with Captain Power and it has been downhill since then.
What do you enjoy about OMD?
What was his defense
Try doing some research before you decide to shit up a thread with your retarded pointless "gotcha"
The Other is one of the best Spider-Man stories out there. It's very heartfelt and meaningful in its own context. The only reason people hate it is because the neve powers didn't stick, but that's not JMS's fault.
>editorial was slacking off
This is honestly one on the industry's biggest problems that they refuse to address. Shit gets printed because they allow it.
Literally >muh 9/11
>>the worst Spider-man stories
uhh no sweaty
You're not wrong, and it's only got worse since Ike fired half of Marvel's editors to save money, but OMD was literally editorial's idea. It's not something that slipped past an editor who wasn't paying attention.
