How can Pokemans even compete?

ies

Finished your sentence OP

This shit is weird. I work as a middle school teacher and literally every kid who has seen these remakes has shit on them aside from the jungle book one. Same from my friends. I dont get it. Literally everyone is ripping on 2019 lion king but its still making a shit ton of money from people who go to this movie KNOWING it wont be as good as the 1994 version.

It's true, people show up and throw money at the guy at the ticket counter to express their contempt!

>I work as a middle school teacher and
Are any of the girls hot?

>Literally everyone is ripping on 2019 lion king
And I havent heard kids takes on it since its summer. When I say everyone, I mean it seems like EVERYONE of my friends and anyone on the internet aside from some youtube comments think it is shit.

You have practically no friends and the internet echo chamber likes to complain about every. single. thing.

Middle school is like peak "i hate disney because it's for kids" though

This. And most of them have STILL seen all the Disney stuff.

But disney is just shit for little girls though

Clearly you have no idea of how many little girls exist in the world. And they don't drive themselves to the theater.

B-But it's the biggest franchise in the world Yea Forums said so

Lots of people still praised captain marvel. You can count on one hand people liking lion king 2019.

So you're a pathetic loser who gets all their information from Yea Forums

No wonder you're astounded when these movies make a billio

My work buddy (who's a Nintendo fanboy) kept insisting that Det. Pikachu would break a billion, it was SO fucking popular for so many years.
I scoffed then and I scoff now.
I think a lot of it had to do with people having mixed feelings about exposing their kids to Ryan Reynolds, worrying they were gonna see some Ted-style shit.

Warner Brothers as a whole has lost the trust of the family audience. Disney has never squandered that trust.
They have made BAD movies, sure, but they have never made films that upset grandparents.

>its still making a shit ton of money from people who go to this movie KNOWING it wont be as good as the 1994 version.
So it's making money from people hate-watching just as how there was money from the Emoji Movie, I suppose?

It took it almost three months to hit a billion. You'd better believe this underperformed in their eyes.

Nine weekends is almost 3 months?

>it's going to be shit but I'm going to watch it anyway because it's based on my childhood/some of my friends are going

Making everything family friendly so it can pst all the dove foundation approval ratings is precisely why i hate disney. I fucking despise princess and singing and all the sugary muck, and when they ruin and lobotomize other franchises to fit into their PC mold then theyre just absorbing more media into their sickening soccer mom mentality.

Critical acclaim, or in more simple terms "being good" is not important to box-office success for an individual movie. Advertising and consumer goodwill can easily get the public to dump a billion dollars into a shitty product.

Poor critical acclaim starts to effect profits on the NEXT film. The audience sees a bad film, and then they remember it was bad and don't see the sequel. You can see this demonstrated perfectly with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blockbuster films they did this decade. First one was a massive success despite being barely a coherent movie at all, with massive critical disdain, while the second film, arguably much better, nobody when out to see because the first one was crap.

This goodwill and badwill extends to movie studios. For a time, people just avoided Sony Pictures movies because they were notorious for making crap films. While people will take chances on Disney shit because Disney cultivated a reputation for entertaining films.

However, Disney really stumbled onto something special with their live action remakes.

It doesn't matter how shitty these films are, because they're exploiting the incredible goodwill of the animated classics, and since they aren't direct sequels to each other, the public doesn't care that the last five live action remakes were terrible, they'll always take a chance on the new one.
But it means their live action reboots are a limited resource. Since only the best Disney animated movies turn out to be successful at the boxoffice. B-tier shit like Dumbo, Pete's Dragon don't make it at the box-office.
And sequels of these live action films, like the Alice in Wonderland, flop as well.

After Mulan and Stitch there isn't much left that is even viable for a remake.

>It made almost as much as King of the Monsters, Shazam! and Detective Pikachu combined, you better believe this underperformed!

How do you breathe with your head that far up your ass? Have you learned to survive on methane gas?

I didn't read most of this pasta, but I got a chuckle out of your "Disney is finished soon" comment at the end.

Sometimes I forget how dumb the people on this site are

I'm sure a drooling retard like you gets a chuckle out of a lot of things, like shiny cars or people shaking car keys in your face.

>Nobody
Nobody in civilized society likes these movies.

Chinese bugmen on the other hand are a different story entirely.

Reminder that Detective Flopachu is Warner Brothers highest grossing movie in 2019.

Aladdin made the usual ratio of Domestic to Foreign BO tho. And it was the #1 movie in oh-so-cultured Japan for a solid month.

That can't possibly be trHOLY SHIT IT IS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Why do you faggots company war with billion dollar conglomerate megacorporations? You dont even get a fucking video game console out of it, just shitty movies.

Disney is going to quit making animated movies in favor of live-action. Mark my words.

They're morons.

>three months to hit a billion
>underperformed
Top kek!

Attached: nope.jpg (294x464, 20K)

Is that it?

>Company warring giant billion dollar monolithic multimedia megacorporate conglomerates who want to create a superoligarchy over all of entertainment and deliberately cooperate with eachother

Damn.

You're a retard.

What war dumbass

We're laughing at a studio failing due to massive incompetence if it were Sony your retarded ass wouldn't have said shit probably because you aren't an unpaid intern there you pathetic fucking WB shill

Yes i would have and have in fact done so in the past day you dumb fucking faggot.

Stop being a god damn company faggot, you stupid retard. You get nothing out of it but gradually worsening products and gradual monopolistic encroachment.

That's not fair

Until Aquaman no WB movie had made a billion in almost a decade and now with the Disney-Fox merger no WB movie ever will again

I just dont get it. Nobody will remember this remakes by next year much like the other remakes.

What side of this "company war" am I on dipshit? Am I automatically on Disney's side in your retarded mind because I made fun of your precious fucking WB and their shit movies?

Who the hell is watching these things?

They'll remember to avoid The Lion King 2 or Aladdin 2 if Disney is ever so bold to make them.

They'll still be stupid enough to go see Mulan and Pocahontas.

Everyone

>posting images of Chris Evans pissing on DC's grave
>Post Wonder Woman box office
>calling me a WB shill for pointing out how fucking retarded being a company faggot is

Yeah you're a Disney faggot.

WB is shit. Disney is shit. Sony is shit. They're all fucking shit. Stop supporting them or batting for them, you fucking faggot.

Whoah, calm down there, school-shooter-san!

Oh so your a hipster?

Movies in general have lost a lot of impact due to foreign markets for one. And people just want to turn off their brain and enjoy what they did when they were children. Very few countries have their own film culture outside the United States, so a lot of copy-paste, generic stuff flourishes because it casts a wider net. This is why super hero films due so well and Disney remakes make so much off nostalgia despite being forgettable and plain mediocre. Very few of these movies win critical awards and for good reason, there is little artistry.

No you faggot, i'm just not a cuck like you who backs up Tyrone in a fight after he got finished filling your girlfriend with a thick black dick.

>Yea Forums in charged of predicting the boxoffice

This place never gets shit right.

So underage then

underage detected!

>buzzword buzzword buzzword buzzword buzzword shill buzzword shill shill buzzword buzzword reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

What fucking faggots you are holy shit.

Mulan I can respect since they are making the story to match the original one its based off. Aladdin and Lion King though? Where they are essentially shot by shot remakes? That shit is grotesque. I saw that leaked cam clip of Scar killing Mufasa with the comparison to 1994. The difference is striking. It is crazy how bad it looks. Also that fuck hakuna matata clip. Christ.

Money > your foundation

Might as well go take out some loans for a basket weaving degree with your attitude.

>Very few countries have their own film culture outside the United States
Reminder that this is what Amerifats ACTUALLY BELIEVE!

I knew it would make a ton of money while also being shit. And I was right because that is typically the case with Disney in the past 10 years with some exceptions like Moana.

>its still making a shit ton of money from people who go to this movie KNOWING it wont be as good as the 1994 version.

Curiosity is a hell of a drug, people including myself went to see the movie just to see how different it is.

Yes, but Disney doesn't seem to care what the opinion of cam-rip watching incels are.
It's almost like you aren't part of their entertainment business model. Strange, huh?

Yea Forums's excuse was the Pokemon was bigger in China too, though.

How was it?

Why are these so clearly inferior movies to the originals, doing so well?

>Am I automatically on Disney's side in your retarded mind because I made fun of your precious fucking WB and their shit movies?
Yes.

It's only console waring when it's the other side doing it.

Just like 'no one cares about sales; $$ != quality!' ... unless it's a good week for DC in which case it suddenly matters SO FUCKING MUCH IT HURTS!

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Disney has had it's own share of flops in the past decade.

Christopher Robin
BFG
Alice in Wonderland 2
Dumbo
Pete's Dragon

Just because it has Disney's name attached to it doesn't mean it'll be a success.

So what did you like about it then, mr. Disney white knight?

>trying this hard to fit in
You sweet summer child.

Attached: edgy.png (373x327, 199K)

Lion King is a big ass property for them though. Same with Aladdin. Do they have anything as big as those left? Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty maybe?

And the Mary Poppins reboot was a complete disaster for Disney.

>Nuh-nuh n-newfag! newfag! shill shill!

Go back to Yea Forums or Yea Forums or whatever retard hole you climbed out of, bug.

Attached: [palpable disgust].png (337x334, 172K)

Lion King? Like Avatar, its an incredible technical achievement in CGI while being nothing exciting story-wise (the voice acting is flat and the story is just a repeat).

It makes Jungle Book look dated, which is saying a lot. From a purely technical perspective, its easily the highest achievement in animation this year, tho Disney won't put it up for Best Animated.

Not him. It was shit. All the reviews are true. Extremely expresionless, voice acting is phoned in a lot (fucking Beyonce), and just lazy.

>And the Mary Poppins reboot was a complete disaster for Disney.
Mary Poppins made Shazam! money, and I've had dozens of people on Yea Forums tell me that Shazam! "dun gud".

Disney is not damage con.......

Attached: 1563806928029.png (454x520, 13K)

Hercules. Great Mouse Detective maybe?

A bit of a stretch but Rescuers, Atlantis and Emperors New Groove?

They're kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel for big name classics.

>Disney has had it's own share of flops in the past decade.
>BFG
I unironically loved BFG, myself.

People bitch about the number of remakes, reboots, and sequels ... but then when something new comes along it's always a bigger crapshoot at the boxoffice.

Mary Poppins Returns was meant to be another billion dollar franchise. It didn't even make half a billion.

Seriously though how does a board dedicated to television and film know absolutely nothing about television and film

Attached: 20190727_124809.jpg (2896x2896, 433K)

The Lion King and Aladdin were huge as fuck for Disney. Arguably their two biggest classics of the 20th century. People go to see for nostalgia, curiousity. At least in America. They both look like shit though desu so I cant be bothered.

And this is why str wars is failing, because you mouse faggots had to dumb it down like everything else

>Mary Poppins Returns was meant to be another billion dollar franchise
Says who?

And Shazam is a comic book movie in an age where even the worst of them make at least $500 million

Man don't be like that.
Of course they're hot

Brecht felt the exact same way you did and ended up turning that disgust into historically a cclaimed work. Just a suggestion.

Emperors new groove and atlantis could actually be good as live action but fuck nobody has nostalgia for them. Disney likes to pretend Great Mouse Derective never existed. Was so good.

Apparently the new low bar for WB "Success" is 350 million.

>All the reviews are true.
>now that they fit my narrative
'Member when 'Disney buys all da revoos!' was the company line?

Attached: certified.jpg (800x450, 250K)

>star wars is failing
You're in for a big surprise in December

Says Disney's shareholders.

I don't give a fuck about Shazam.

>Says Disney's shareholders.
Disney is gobbling up global box office like Pac-Man, Disney shareholders aren't complaining for shit.
Disney has 10 movies this year, out of 110 releases. And it has over %30 of box office.

They always do this

>Box office doesn't matter unless it's Aquaman
>Reviews don't matter unless it's Shazam
>Audience scores don't matter unless it's Alita

Considering how it’s a huge part of the company’s legacy, I doubt it. They need to still make animated films so they can at least have something to remake 20 years later.
Disney might outsource its feature animation work to overseas, though. Which would suck since the studio is one of the largest employer of such in the industry.

You are a fucking moron

The reviews for Lion King are shit though. This isnt a Marvel thing. Just that the Lion King 2019 is shit.

Do you even know what your arguing?

You're just being argumentative for the sake of it. Yes. Disney wanted another billion dollar franchise. Yes, their shareholders wanted more money.

Why am I even replying to a console warrior dipshit like yourself.

lol

It's going to be like TLJ where is massively underperforms and further just kills interest.

Live action Mickey Mouse when?

Sure, Disney would like if EVERYTHING they made brought in a billion dollars. If MPR was intended to be massive, it would have had an all-star cast.
Disney is going to end up with the top 8 movies this year (if you count Far From Home), and all of them will top a billion dollars.
Meanwhile the next highest grossing film is HTTYD with $525 million.

Stop being willfully stupid.

Just last year they made two flops: Wrinkle in Time and Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Okay genius.
Even though it is bloody obvious, the type of shit little children understand, I'll spell it out for you. Different movies have different profit expectations.

Shazam was never projected to make a billion dollars because Warner Bros biggest movies weren't hitting that mark, and Shazam is equivalent to like, Ant-Man.
Mary Poppins Returns was a tentpole film and a remake of a film as well known as the Lion King. They expected more.

You fucking dumbass. You disgust me.

>and Shazam is equivalent to like, Ant-Man.
Or Aquaman, the joke Superfriend.

Says Disney. They moved Solo to a summer release slot to protect MPR.

>Do they have anything as big as those left?
Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood could be huge if done right.

They could also redo Tarzan ( which is out of copyright and has a fuck-ton of source material ).

Peter Pan would cost money for the rights, but that's about as classic as you can get.
