Would Alan Moore like Steven Universe?

Yes and it would infuriate Yea Forums to no end
Hudson Rivera
No, because Steven Universe doesn't have anything edgy or any cold war parallels.
Logan Turner
this
Isaac Roberts
Who do you think would be moores gemfu?
Ryder Diaz
Not really, but he would say he does to piss people off
Ethan Gutierrez
I'd say he'd probably be neutral on it. Mature stuff is more his wheelhouse so he'd probably be apprehensive about watching it. At most he would respect aspects of the production and writing in spite of it not being his aesthetic.
Isaac Walker
I like the idea of him enjoying townie episodes unironically.
Zachary Scott
He'd probably like the more tragic and fucked up characters like Pearl, Jasper, or Lapis. He also might find the Diamonds interesting from a socio-political standpoint.
Caleb Butler
Would he think Steven made the right move with making peace with the Diamonds in CYM?
Benjamin Williams
what does he even like?
the only thing I know about him is that he hates Ditko
Gabriel Jenkins
Well, we can narrow it down. He doesn’t like James Bond or Harry Potter, so that helps.
Jack Scott
He loves Ditko, though he disagrees with him.
Luke Barnes
Escapism that hits emotional lows equivalent to its emotional highs.
Sebastian Fisher
I don't know, but if I could kidnap him and force him to either commentate each episode individually or after marathoning the whole thing...
Mason Hill
>mfw he loves Ronaldo unironically
Jack Young
>mfw he has a gemsona
Dylan Gutierrez
>tfw he chooses this
Carson Perry
Based.
Thomas Davis
how many of those have been scanned? that lady chatterly book looks great.
Caleb Hill
>Crumb
Nice.
Ian Thompson
I've found about half of those.
Daniel Smith
No, because SU doesn't include child abuse vicitms and hookers.
Christopher Cook
Pink is kind of a child abuse victim.
Connor Hernandez
i guess the pearls are metaphorical trophy wives. is that a kind of hooker? it's got rape, he likes that
Julian Mitchell
He'd probably understand that challenging them in a fight would be pointless because all of them together are pretty much unstoppable compared to the Crystal Gems. Watchmen ends with the heroes having to play along with the villain because the only other option is arguably a lot worse.
Kayden Turner
i think he'd like the idea, maybe not so hot on the execution
Jason Rivera
He's still alive, isn't he? Why not just ask him during one of those interviews people are always getting from him. Give him a break on questions about how angry modern comics makes him.
David Howard
Better question:
What if Alan Moore directed Steven Universe?
Parker Lee
he'd lean heavily on the antichrist stuff
Robert Rivera
So what you’re saying is Sugar and Moore should get together and collaborate. And maybe fuck.
Jonathan Cox
>he hates Ditko
Source: Your ass.
youtube.com
Nicholas Wood
unironically it wouldn't surpise me if sugar read his stuff
i think she'd like some of his weirder shit like promethea
has moore ever done anything animated?
Aiden Barnes
Honestly? It depends what work it's most like, Watchmen or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
>In the former case, Steven is able to make a plea on the side of optimism and future, and arguing that by taking lesser evils for the greater good, humanity loses it's humanity. Humanity evolves, and is implied to become better, though nothing is ever set in stone, and Steven may have just created an all or nothing scenario
>Everyone is a fucking terrible person, both in skills and personality. Pearl's a gem supremacist and uses Greg as a prostitute, Amethyst becomes the Blob, Garnet has dementia and is a sex addict, Greg has metastatic melanoma, Steven turns out to be the antichrist for some fucking reason and is unable to fight fate despite it being the one thing literature gets real life accurate fate is bullshit and you know it, the Pizzas are war criminals, the Fryman is a closet homosexual, and Ronaldo rapes half the townies, especially Lars and Sadie.
>Oh, and naturally it turns out the Diamonds were right, and they wipe out the CGs with a macguffin.
As you can probably guess, I neither like volume 3, nor did I like how his subversion of the invisible man was just the invisible man but even more rapey.
Kayden Clark
Based and greenpilled!
Would watch a Steven Universe AU like this!
Levi Brooks
alan moore likes things?
Blake Lee
K I N O !
I want this! A Zack Snyderian and Frank Millerian series about an hybrid gem human!
It's what my dreams are made of!
Matthew Garcia
>never even heard of a single on of these
Am I... a pleb?
Camden Ramirez
>Not hearing about Maus, The Spirit, Talbot or R. Crumb
Yes, you are.
Ryan Rodriguez
Yes. Maus, The Spirit, MAD, Hellboy, and Cerebus should be known by every user of this board, and stuff like Planetary, Love and Rockets, Palestine, Understanding Comics, and Crumb are constantly recommended everywhere.
Brody Bennett
Could Steven change Manhattan’s mind?
Evan Brown
Maybe not, but Pink Steven is there to tank whatever Manhattan can throw at him.
Joshua White
Absolutely. And by the look of that wojak, no one's surprised, newfag.
Caleb Robinson
Except, you know, breaking the diamond instead of just pulling it out
Michael Ramirez
Ah yeah, that old chestnut.
John James
Would him and Rorschach be friends?
Owen Anderson
Steven could probably turn him around with a few pizzas and a song or two.
Liam Reed
>Met young boy today. Seems innocent enough. Possibly homosexual? Must investigate further.
>Don't like strange alien women he's with though. Seem like whores. Obviously homosexual. No need for further investigation.
Asher Morales
no, rorschach hates women, his complex would be too much for it
Noah Bailey
Apparently he loves Little Lulu and even wrote for it.
Evan Price
To Steven:
>You keep calling me Walter. I don’t like you.
>You...don’t like me? Alright, why is that exactly?
>Fat. wealthy. Think you understand pain. I’ll tell you something Steven. I’ll tell you about Rorschach.
Robert Johnson
they'd end up accidentally fusing and forming pic related
Lincoln Taylor
I am 100% fucking certain he’d choose Nephrite. Not only is she damaged, she’s also completely obscure to the point that he’d feel pretty fucking special liking a Gem nobody else likes or acknowledges half the time.
Lincoln Edwards
>posts a vid of him making fun of Ditko’s views
Gavin Gray
>Would Alan Moore like
No.
Gabriel Rivera
>Steven is quiet and somewhat distant. He can't really connect with most humans, with a few exceptions like Greg and Connie.
>The flaws of the Gems are turned up to 11. Pearl's lust for Rose is much more explicit, Amethyst is a disgusting hedonist, and Garnet is completely emotionless.
>When Steven and Connie fuse into Stevonnie, they spend almost the entire time masturbating. This is the first time Steven feels a true connection with a human and that he is a part of the human race.
>The Diamonds are much more brutal and tyrannical. We see scenes of them conquering entire alien worlds, slaughtering civilians.
>Steven has to deal with the fact that he won't always be able to befriend people, and that he might have to fight to protect people. After killing Bismuth, he suffers an intense breakdown.
>Rose Quartz isn't Pink Diamond. Rather, Rose's insurrection was indirectly started by the Diamonds to use as an excuse to increase their power and become more militaristic. Pink Diamond, while still tyrannical, wasn't that bad because while she took Earth's resources, she didn't wipe out the planet's entire population like the other three. By killing her, Rose accidentally made Earth fair game for the other Diamonds to take and destroy humanity. Rose manages to save Earth, at the cost of almost all of her resistance group. She willingly allows everyone except the main gems to be turned into horrifying monsters just to allow humanity to exist. This is Bismuth's main motivation for her face-heel turn, rather than being annoyed at Rose's pacifism.
>Instead of being into 80's dad rock, Greg is more into Velvet Underground, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, mid 70's-early 80's Bowie, stuff like that. He also does a shit ton of drugs, weed and psychedelics to be exact, although he used to do heroin in the 90's before Rose saved him.
Easton Campbell
Poor Moore Steven
Joshua Mitchell
Yes, but the good news you can easily change that by reading the stuff from that pic.
Josiah Price
>wojak
probably, but not because you haven't read the same trite as Moore
Tyler Campbell
Would read
Jack Walker
Nah, but he'd probably like Utena.
Julian Barnes
If it's still got sweet musical numbers I'm totally in.
Jason Long
I've seen maus in book stores
John Reyes
FPBP
Jeremiah Baker
Ugh, he WOULD like Lapis.
Josiah Lewis
Isaac Gomez
I want to live in this timeline
Joshua Rodriguez
Yes but, y'know... it's pretty easy to change by just reading a couple of these. I would highly recommend Robert Crumb's work of the list. Funniest, darkest and most creative cartoonist of all time. Plus you really need to check out the documentary about jim 'Crumb' sometime. One of the best documentaries ever - unintentionally proves all of Freud's theories right.
Brandon Phillips
He probably would like it, if he was to direct an episode I would expect him to go indepth about policy regarding the gems and the international conflict and history of the new earth. maybe a small subplot about how gem interference has changed aspect of life.
Parker Jones
> steven universe? love it, can't get enough of it, honestly.
> would you like to see my gemsona? her name's Asbestos, a rejected prototype gem. insidious little bugger. kills everything around her slowly, like a subtle poison emanating out of her pores. she can't control herself either, so she isolates herself from the rest of homeworld in a vain attempt to dissuade people from seeking her out
John Long
The real question is, would Alan Moore Believe In Steven?
Oliver Murphy
What would Rorschach he think of Greg?
Eli Rivera
Well, she DID make a caduceus in “Reunited.”
“My name’s Mack...”
“...and my name’s Mike!”
Andrew Cook
Based and greenpilled! Would want and watch this!
Evan Carter
No, it's popular.
Ian Stewart
Maybe Rose is still Pink Diamond but her double persona is a symbolism and an homage to Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Rose talks about how killing humans is bad, but Pink say is good to kill humans, they discuss untill they go stalemate. And at the end Pearl is the one that take the final decision, and Pearl didn't know that Russia couldn't take that nuke......
Brayden Parker
Don't beat yourself up. Why not check out some of these books instead?
Daniel Robinson
>Watchmen ends with the heroes having to play along with the villain because the only other option is arguably a lot worse.
Diamonds get shattered, Gemkind goes extinct.
Dylan White
That got me thinking...
What if Grant Morrison directed Steven Universe?
and kinda related to the first question:
What if both Alan Moore and Grant Morrison co-directed Steven Universe?
Joshua Sullivan
He has to. I can't believe in a man who does not Believe in Steven.
Charles Sanchez
>Watchgems
I want this
Thomas Sanchez
Well, Moore Steven would be a distand anti-christ like persona, and he start to look like his mother Pink Diamond, but goes by wanting to be the saviour of the human race like Rose. Humans don't want him as saviour and are offended that he thinks they are so stupid and so primitive to need a saviour. But Steven knows that they need him.
Then the episodes are Morrison like stories, Yellow Diamond is a Ras Al Ghul person who thinks her leadership is the one and only that deserve to exists, Blue is a kind and loving Morrison's like Wonder Woman she is sweet but also pragmatic annd want the better for the creatures even if that makes them unhappy. White Diamond is going to be Final Crisis's Darkseid, but she will get redeemed when Steven makes her know that humans are weak and they must save them because their superiority makes them the only people that can save these weak and primitive humans by civilization and listening to their opinions.
The gems are as what said, and Steven starts to be friend to Connie when they were 8. And Steven will hate Garnet because she lied to him and made him think fusion was a weapon for mortal situations, and so Steven with his diamond's powers make Garnet unfuse in Ruby and Sapphire....forever! But they will understand this decision and will live together.
Pearl and Amethyst will first have loveless sex but then they will marry and love eachothers
Nicholas Thompson
He would believe Steven as a metaphor to the lovecraftian hybrids and an homage to mythological demigods
James Thomas
>I wanted to kind of make this like, "Yeah, this is what crying space rock lesbians would be in the real world." But I had forgotten that actually to a lot of comic fans that emotional instability, not having a real gender—these are actually kind of heroic. So actually, sort of, Steven Universe became the most popular show on Cartoon Network. I meant it to be a bad example, but I have people come up to me in the street saying, "I am Steven Universe! That is my story!" And I’ll be thinking, "Yeah, great, can you just keep away from me and never come anywhere near me again for as long as I live?"
David Campbell
>I am 100% fucking certain he’d choose Nephrite. Not only is she damaged, she’s also completely obscure to the point that he’d feel pretty fucking special liking a Gem nobody else likes or acknowledges half the time.
Alan Moore, did you wrote this?
Carson Foster
I want this timeline just for watching the co/ threads about Alan Moore version of Steven Universe
Colton Thomas
Rorschach would think Greg should have tried to kill Steven for bringing Rose back
Henry Edwards
Steven Universe directed by Zack Snyder
Jordan Howard
I want him to loves Steven Universe so Yea Forums can be triggered
Jacob Cook
But russia is destroyed and YD and BD have a cold war like for the controll of the universe
Jason Cruz
Every bit of character development is stripped out and slow motion increases tenfold.
Parker Lopez
Depends. Is there a character he can project his Margaret thatcher hate boner on?
Matthew Rogers
God I need to live in this timeline
Michael Gray
He would like Nephrite because she is the only that didn't get an happy ending and will always live in the pain and the solitude
Carter Ward
And there is 50% of people that hate this Steve Universe and 50% that loved it and call who doesn't like it an idiot
John Nguyen
Nephrite did get a happy ending though.
Christian Campbell
But he would love when she was going to have an unhappy ending
Parker Gonzalez
>tfw they won't release the Snyder cut of Diamond Days
Daniel Flores
I hated that Alex Hirsch had to corrupt Snyder's original Diamond Days vision!
Aiden Bell
I would lovd a demigod take on Steven by Moore
Christopher Reed
Then it would become a Zack Snyder's idea of making Steven a symbolism of ancient mythological hybrids of Gods and Humans
Adam Miller
No, because Alan Moore doesn't like anything that wasn't around when he was a kid. Culture should have stopped at 1957, because nothing good has been created since outside of the works of Alan Moore.
Benjamin Myers
How does feel like having Alan Moore's dick stuck in your mouth?
Aiden Long
I wasn't praising him, I was putting words in his mouth.
Jacob Nelson
More like putting his dick in yours.
Josiah Bennett
Oh.......geez
Joshua Thomas
He would try to write a parallel between him and ancient demigods or straight up turning Steven into the Anti-Christ but plot twist Greg is Satan and Rose an angel
Leo Taylor
Why on Earth would Rorschach do that? His whole decent into mad vigilante was brought on by his disgust at a child murderer. He'd never sign off on killing a kid like that.
Wyatt Carter
Which demigods?
Jacob Williams
I can see him think postively on the way the show portrays violence and the ethics that come with that. and as many have stated before he'll prob latch on to the more miserable characters. I definetly see him buying a lapis bodypillow. He would also interpret the Daimond Authority as a critique of exploitive goverments that destory and expand at the cost of the land and native people.
Pretty much
Jonathan Jenkins
Rorschach would because he would think at Steven like an hybrid abomination of humans and aliens, so unworthy to live because he is over religious and believe in the anti-christ
Nathan Ward
Nope it is liberal trash and not actually leftist drivel.
Noah Allen
Steven would either be an homage to greek and roman demigods where he got the best of the two sides, humanity and gem powers. Or he would be an homage to norse demigods and he is just a very remarkable person that it's not what is parents want him to be but his own person.
Or an homage to the demigod Maui and Steven is proud to be what he is even if by proving to be better than normal humans has to save them from themselves
Leo Brooks
But Moore likes comics
Angel Morales
I would read
Cameron Ward
I want a series of au with this story
Daniel Gonzalez
Those digits
Joseph Hughes
>Gemkind goes extinct
Not exactly, unless Steven is included in the "Diamonds get shattered" part, and may I remind you that gems are (semi)immortal?
Carter Ward
He would love it because Lapis raped Jasper
Thomas Martinez
Wasn't what Jasper and Lapis did consensual rape?
They agreed to be in the fusion and they experimented that agony, but they WANTED that fusion
Cameron Perez
Maybe he can entrap them in a limbo like with the Black Mercy from Superman
Jayden Long
>Possibly homosexual?
What about Connie?
Caleb Price
>not actually leftist
Steven Universe still seems to be about abolishing hierarchies because of the Diamond arc
Bentley Nguyen
then there would be a way to bring them back or would that be irreversible?
Nathan Baker
Alan Moore is an old bitter man who hates everything. He'd probably hate you for being a grown man entertaining this question about a kid's show.
Alan Moore would hate Yea Forums and everyone here pn principal
Jacob Johnson
WE will see how the Gem society turns out in the movie
Colton Sanchez
>When Steven and Connie fuse into Stevonnie, they spend almost the entire time masturbating.
tbf, who wouldn't?
David Hill
I expect nothing less from the ultimate contrarian.
Leo Turner
He'd probably consider her a liberal and be annoyed with her.
Brandon Cook
...
Brayden Wright
don't call me out like this.
Evan Cox
the gems on earth or the ones from their home world? I'm pretty sure the movie is mostly about a new villain (who seems to be working for her own; I might be wrong though). But leftism isn't about abolishing ALL forms of hierarchies, right? It's mostly about abolishing economic hierarchies (which then means left/right doesn't apply to gem societies because they don't seem to have economies).
If we then focus on humans; then, that; I don't know.
Joseph Wright
>But leftism isn't about abolishing ALL forms of hierarchies, right? It's mostly about abolishing economic hierarchies (which then means left/right doesn't apply to gem societies because they don't seem to have economies).
Not just abolishing, but critiquing and reforming all hierarchies. Republicanism is a left wing ideology back then against monarchies or feudalism like current Gemworld. Gem world would probably form a republic or a democracy for it to be 'leftist'.
Jose Sullivan
Well, you can bring them back if you want.
But would you want?
William Gonzalez
Rep/Dem is irrelevant, what matters is if the society is capitalistic or socialistic, but I find that "real leftists" most prefer anarchism (society without a governing state) compared to any other.
Evan Lee
Would the earth be better if there was anarchy?
Josiah Parker
So they can be returned? In my opinion, they're not considered extinct if that's the case.
Henry Brooks
It worked for our ancestors (just mutual cooperation). Is your view of (anarchy) akin to that of pop-culture interpretation?
Aiden Jones
They're in a state similiar to a coma, they don't realize the time that pass but they're alive. It's bad solution? Yes! It's a good solution? Yes!
There are other alternatives? Yes, extinction of them or extinction of us.
So, maybe there is someone enought stupid to thnk they were right and so he frees them, but I think there should be a system where nobody can touch that neither kill them because it's the most merciful option
Zachary Perry
Well, I know what the anarchy is by the movies series Purge, is that good enought?
Brayden Johnson
>Rep/Dem is irrelevant
No burger, I mean the transition from a feudalistic society to a republic or a democracy would make SU leftist.
Purge is literally the opposite of anarchy. Hell the Crystal Gems through the season might as well be living in anarchy.
Charles Ross
>Purge is literally the opposite of anarchy.
Are you sure? Every night at year every crime is legalized and this is anarchical.
>Hell the Crystal Gems through the season might as well be living in anarchy
Because they work on their own?
Jackson Ward
"Crime" is legalized by the untouched highly-centralized ruling political class. It's done specifically as a way of letting people THINK they have a release valve, which is used to maintain the social order the rest of he year.
The Purge movies are shit, but they sure as fuck aren't an anarchist setting.
Xavier Green
Make a what if not canonically serie like this!
Wyatt Adams
Honestly the only cartoon charcater Moore would like would be Uncle Grandpa.
Think about, Moore knows Stardust the Super Wizard. He sure like a omnipotent man as a distant god
Lucas Bell
Little Lulu
The original MAD Comic by Harvey Kurtzman
Herbie Popnecker comics
Grendel by Matt Wagner
Planetary by Warren Ellis
Ayden Price
predictable
>Every night at year every crime is legalized
And who legalizes them? That's right! It's a POLITICAL PARTY known as the New Founding Fathers of America. That sure is anarchistic, really puts the "an" to ANarchy.
It's just basic language.
Eli Young
>a group of heroes fighting and solving problems without establishment oversight
He'd hate it
Kevin Richardson
And try to work his own version as he did with Ditko's characters and created Watchmen
Christopher Reyes
>and 50% that loved it
More like a vocal 5%
Andrew Carter
>Because they work on their own?
Yea
Jaxon Wood
But they have a leader
Jason Richardson
He’d call it Estephano Multiversidad.
Brandon Edwards
>But they have a leader
when Rose was still around that is. After that, it's either one of the four, or a mix of them. In some days Garnet leads the gang, then in some other days Steven leads, or Pearl or sometimes even Amethyst. It's still anarchy because nobody is a permanent leader (and obviously because they're just a small group and there's no government/state involved, even during Rose's times there was no state).
Matthew Roberts
>Does it follow that I reject all authority? Far from me such a thought. In the matter of boots, I refer to the authority of the bootmaker; concerning houses, canals, or railroads, I consult that of the architect or engineer. For such or such special knowledge I apply to such or such a savant. But I allow neither the bootmaker nor the architect nor the savant to impose his authority upon me.
They only listen to Rose and then Garnet also she is the wisest.
Adam Long
Wonder what he would think of Rebecca?
Wyatt Richardson
Could Steven change Ozymandias’ mind?
Tyler Morgan
I actually read Maus as part of the curriculum during 8th grade English. It's mainstream as fuck.
Grayson Jenkins
He already did it -that amount- of minutes ago.
John Hill
He would think she should being more realistic and explain the socio political systems in the world she created
Aaron Wilson
Oh fuck. Well he tried.
Easton Richardson
Little Lulu is unironically top tier
Christian Williams
Since Garnet is two gems is that a democracy?
Henry Cook
Isn't Garnet like 2 people and so a biarchy?
Aaron Carter
He would try to bring distant and lovecraftian's aliens images to it
Dominic Kelly
Rick Veitchs stuff probably
Also Cerberus
Justin Thomas
yes
Benjamin Kelly
Can we get Steven Universe directed by Alan Moore and Watchmen directed by Rebecca Sugar?
Andrew Rogers
What characters are now gay?
Carter Richardson
watchmen already has a few gay characters. like that lesbian who was cut from the team. more spotlight on them maybe.
Andrew King
Well Rorschach and Dan have even gayer subtext now.
Landon Nelson
Dr Manhattan become the distant trans entity!
Mason Wilson
i could see moore doing this, since manhattan is both a god figure and also naked most of the time
Aiden Walker
How would his naked penis work?
Jonathan Ortiz
>It worked for our ancestors (just mutual cooperation)
In small groups of hunter gatherers. Do you want to go back to neolithic technologies and dying from every septic scratch you get?
Colton Hernandez
>In small groups of hunter gatherers. Do you want to go back to neolithic technologies and dying from every septic scratch you get?
Well, the alternative is living in today society so....yes!
Matthew Jackson
He used to be a woman known as Joan, it’s why the blue dick is out a lot.
Nolan Sanders
>This Thread
God I love you guys
No homo
Kayden Gray
It is a meritocracy.
Michael Carter
>Less focus on the geopolitics of the world. The Cold War is still going on and the world's on the verge of nuclear, but it isn't really focused on as much.
>A lot more focus on the people in the city, less focus on the Comedian mystery plot.
>New York is now clean and safe to live in, where the people are happy and safe.
>Dr. Manhattan now takes the form of a hermaphrodite, having cast aside all views of gender. "A male and a female contain the same number of particles. Structurally, there's no discernible difference. Male and female are unquantifiable abstracts. Why should I be concerned?”
>There is an actual alien invasion, and Adrian has teamed up with the aliens and brought them to Earth as a part of his plan.
>Rorschach and Nite Owl make it in time to stop Adrian from initiating the attack on New York. They convince him that this isn't the way to solve the Cold War and that peace is the way to victory. All the characters then team up one last time to stop the invasion.
Basically Saturday Morning Watchmen except gay.
