Because smug will always prevail.

Will's nice but also an archetypal pink.

Winx was better

>archetypal pink
?

Ew, no. Girls should be modest, sweet and innocent
Smug is only appropriate for showing off intelligence.

I see you are a man of taste

Dunno about OP, but you certainly aren't.

Elyon guys. Elyon.

She's a close 2nd to Will. Great taste user

In Manga/Anime the protag is the pink, because most of them are pink. And they're still a pink even if they aren't pink.
It's like being the red in a boys series.

But what does that actually fucking mean? If you mean she's an archetypal protag that's completely wrong

Familiar with Precure, Tokyo Mew Mew, Shugo Chara and similar shows?
Although if I think about it again, it's mostly just recency bias because most of those protags are a lot bubblier/happy go lucky than Will.

On a sidenote, if you've never seen Magic Knight Rayearth you definitely should.

Also, people usually dont like the MC as much as the others. You hear far more people liking mew mew nint or sailor mars than the main girl, it's just a funny reaccurence

Vocal minority.
And people who prefer Mint over Ichigo are crazy.

>Also, people usually dont like the MC as much as the others.
Because the MC is generally far less interesting than the others.

Will is one of the extremely rare exceptions - where she's arguably the MOST interesting character. (At least in the show)

Which one is the one who gets blacked?

What makes the show so much better than the comic?

Cordelia, but dont they break up? All the relationship shit didnt interest me as a kid

In the cartoon, they unironically all get whited.

In the comics, it's Cornelia - but that's one of the many reasons you watch the show first and read the comics later, if at all.

A man of culture, I see.

Nothing, the comic is better, or at least counting the arcs shared by both. I guess the cartoon fixes up some stuff but otherwise it's more consistent.

Attached: Irma_01.jpg (709x900, 275K)

>What makes the show so much better than the comic?
Far better storytelling on basically every level - plot, characters, setting, even dialogue (written in English unlike the source!) - compared to the arcs it covers.
It fixes a bunch of inconsistencies and oddities, changes characters and other things to make it more interesting, ties the arcs together in a way the comics don't even try, has emotionally meaningful relationships (!!!) and most of all actually focuses on the MAGIC and relegates the slice-of-life stuff to B-plots.

Plus the soundtrack is literal, absolute GOAT. Best cartoon OST of all time hands down.

For me, it's Susan.

That's a bummer, was ready to read the comics right after the show.

You should anyways, because the show only covers the first 2 arcs of the comics - out of 11. So if you want to find out what happens after that the comics are your only option.
Also they're different enough that you have to start at the beginning.

BTW if you're watching the show make sure you get a DVDRip, not some potato quality stream recorded from TV.

>BTW if you're watching the show make sure you get a DVDRip,

Individual episodes were 450 MB so I assume they were the DVD rips.

Wondering if I should read the whole comic or just skip the later parts

Will > Hay Lin > Irma > the last two

Irma > The rest but I like them all

First is Cornelia and is Caleb who ended the relationship in the T.V stay like a couple but in the comics are broke, and she goes for the older brother Tarannee meanwhile Caleb go for the Loli Queen in a one-shot comic
Meanwhile, the comic had a good history had a big problem going to long and the next tales are about a slice of life boring stuff like:
>babysitting kids with powers
>Pet magic creatures
>See the future
Even gain a power-off for a random bad guy and obtain the power to become one giant woman for nothing

The cartoon did exactly that, but more importantly aged up the girls so they don't look like little kids.

>Nothing, the comic is better, or at least counting the arcs shared by both.
The first Arc is bad in both(due to executive meddling), but the cartoon is less so.
Try reading the first Arc issues 1-12, at 7 there's a massive shift in tone and writing in general for the worse, due to the original people who came up with the comic being thrown out. At this point, the comic is essentially given a retcon:
-Caleb is added out of nowhere. The comic straight up says earlier on that the rebels are leaderless, so Vathek switching sides to become their leader in 6 is a big moment... and then in 7, they suddenly had Caleb all along.
-The whisperers somehow go from being a part of Phobos own being to just his creations
-Cedric goes full retard
-Phobos goes from a reclusive who never shows his face to anyone but the worthy to a moustache twirler right out in open.
-Elyon's character is completely changed.
The Nerissa Arc is overall more well-constructed in the show, but I do think what it led to is a point in the comics favor.
In the comics, it was very much where the team found their footing again after the original creatives were shown the door. After improving during the Nerissa Arc, the new comic team peaks with A Crisis on Two Worlds and Trial of the Oracle. War against Ludmoore is the start of the decline, but fairly good in its own right.
The best parts of the W.I.T.C.H. comics are issues 1-6, and then Arc 3-5.

>Irma stuck with the geek
FUCK YOU - Donte May Cry

>The first Arc is bad in both(due to executive meddling), but the cartoon is less so.
Exec meddling improved the cartoon overall IMO. If the whole season had been as action-packed as the second half and most of season 2, I would never have grown so attached to the characters. Can you imagine an episode like "Happy Birthday Will" later in the series, with its brilliant character interaction? Or "Divide and Conquer", with pic related and numerous intellectual jokes no kid would understand?

Also, reading Nicholls' book on what the execs wanted/didn't want I find myself agreeing with the vast majority of what they actually ended up insisting upon (if you compare the lines to the actual episodes, you'll see that most of their meddling didn't make it into the show, though the book doesn't mention that conveniently enough).

>The Nerissa Arc is overall more well-constructed in the show, but I do think what it led to is a point in the comics favor.

The general consensus is that arc 2 was pretty bad but arc 3 was even worse, and the comics only finally regained their footing with Trial of the Oracle. You're swimming against the tide here user

I do appreciate the list, though it isn't nearly comprehensive enough comic vs. cartoon-wise

Attached: Ski down me.png (720x576, 454K)

What did the execs want/not want?

>The general consensus is that arc 2 was pretty bad but arc 3 was even worse
Fair enough, I can see that. Arkhanta is really underwhelming, the good part of the arc is mostly in the regular world.
Trial of the Oracle is easily the best the comic ever got after the kerfuffle during the first arc, though.

>What did the execs want/not want?
It's mostly from this book: web.archive.org/web/20060207182247/http://www.nichollsvickers.com/valuable_lessons.pdf

Read the chapter on the show (it's quite short) but also search for mentions of "W.I.T.C.H." throughout. If you know the show well enough you should recognize most of the lines that the execs objected to

Attached: Hat_Kid_Transparent.png (628x682, 397K)

Will > Cornelia > Irma > Hay Lin = Taranee
Though that said, I still like them all a lot

Wait, i just started watching the series.
Is this comic canon too?
When should i read it?

They kinda share the same 2 or 3 first arcs then the comic goes on

>want to read it
>has too much taste to read shit scans with obnoxious watermarks
The life of a connoiseur is a sad one.
Why, oh why, did disney have to do pointless censoring of the rerelease, effectively killing everyones interest in it.

Wasn't there a site that had the original uncensored stuff in high quality?

That's only the first 30ish issues and they have official english translations. The other ~140 are scans of varying dubious quality both scan and translation wise. I haven't read the translations, but I know at least one of the teams were 2 weaboo fangirls, so my expectations are low.

Anyone have the link to the comics? I lost all mine but managed to keep the show.

>pointless censoring of the rerelease
The re-release is not censored whatsoever. Your info is completely wrong

>implying you know what you're shitposting about
Scan.

Re-release.
Notice any differences?

Perfect

Less forbidden flesh, yes...

Um... are you retarded by any chance user?

They're literally EXACTLY THE SAME (except color differences). Look at them side by side

At most she looks a little smaller but it's barely imperceptible, I can't see any censoring in here

Surely you have a better example?

Well duh, the coloring is (was) the censoring.

I say was, because I did some more comparisons and it seems like that page is the only one that's "censored", implying it's actually just a coloring fuckup.
I stand corrected.

I searched for W.I.T.C.H, read the "PEOPLE WON’T KNOW THAT" part, and it really makes me angry

>Those five had magical powers (except we couldn’t say the word magic because
of fears Disney would be seen as promoting Satanism)

Wow.

Attached: Fred_unamused.jpg (500x377, 29K)

Ising he world magic would cheapen their powers considering how people use that word nowadays.
But it seems weird, many Disney products are heavily associated with magic and they don't seem to give a shit.

They probably toned down the restrictions a bit but the whole part of the WITCH rewrites is baffling.

Attached: 1558841352358.png (422x357, 161K)

There are literally no differences in line art, should I overlay the images in PS for you?

He already said it was his bad

I don't think the changes in coloring are censorship, they just adjusted the color palette towards blue to emphasize the cold, and made her skin tone more consistent between panels.

It's kinda relevant that the coloring was done with a combination of watercolors + Photoshop and maybe they needed to adjust it some.

Attached: Webp.net-resizeimage.png (2328x897, 2.99M)

Why did you have to remind me this? That was also the first time my heart broke. I was hopelessly in love with cornelia, but seeing her riding the dick carousel was too painful. FUUUUUUUUCK.

Uuh... pic related is from the re-release.

Speaking of, does anyone know if it's still a thing or got canned? I haven't heard anything about it since v3 came out.

Jesus, why can't Americans handle shit or at least these folks who censor this harmless stuff.

I think it is becaus the censors have to justify their jobs so they keep censoring shit.

>her proportions look weird, almost dwarf-like.
That's pretty much how they all look in the comics - because apparently "cute teen" means "like a little kid" to those artists.

I guess they're trying to capture the fact that she's a goofy 13 yo kid

It's probably either mistakes or weird stylistic choices but young teens are proportional messes to be fair.

>extraordernary
Also I think the writer took the title a bit too literally
(Might be why Irma made the joke in the show...)

But again, the show had no problem capturing that exact 13-year-old look - see pic related.

(Yet everyone thinks the comics have better art...)

Attached: W.I.T.C.H. girls with Elyon.png (768x576, 570K)

Most Americans don't care, but there is a small percentage of people who have nothing better to do than to be outraged on the Internet and companies keep listening to those people for some reason.

>the show had no problem capturing that exact 13-year-old look

i thought you said they aged them up

Certainly looks like her, doesn't it?

Why?

I know but it's pretty frustrating. Good thing these things seem to have relaxed a bit nowadays.

I have to admit, Disney Italy is sort of hardcore. When I first started reading these, I was definitely not expecting full-on nude transformation scenes, but there they were. I kind of regret not reading them as a teenager now.

Were there any comic issues with shrinking, like the two episodes in the TV series?

>was ready to read the comics right after the show

Dude ignore everything they are saying. The board has built up a cult fandom of the cartoon that's trying to make out like the comics aren't better, and largely from one dude pushing this incessantly.

Almost everyone outside here who's read them will disagree. If anything about them stands out, it's that the comics are insanely dense, you frequently learn more about the characters from a single panel then you will from five minutes of the cartoon. You absolutely will not regret reading them, especially if you liked the show.

>aged up
They' re not really aged up, just threir trsansformations are. Also WHY would you want that anyway, lol.

>i thought you said they aged them up
You retard...
In the comics, they start out at 14 but look 8-10.
In the show, they start out at 13 and look... 13.

>Almost everyone outside here who's read them will disagree.
It's called nostalgia, user. Any changes are automatically perceived as ruining everything.

>If anything about them stands out, it's that the comics are insanely dense, you frequently learn more about the characters from a single panel then you will from five minutes of the cartoon.
What the actual fuck? This doesn't even make sense, unless you're talking about slice-of-life shit that nobody gives a flying fuck about (and that the cartoon hugely toned down thankfully).

And you conveniently ignored the entire lists of why the show is better ITT. You guys don't even have rebuttals anymore, you just make up shit.

>You absolutely will not regret reading them, especially if you liked the show.
This is actually probably true, but no thanks to nostalgiafags like yourself.

you should really consider suicide

>cult fandom
It's one guy

Dude, that writer's account of what went down during the production of the cartoon tells the opposite story, everything was way dumbed down.

Not that guy but it would be for fun

>Dude, that writer's account of what went down during the production of the cartoon tells the opposite story, everything was way dumbed down.
For the last FUCKING time (hopefully)

Most of the "executive meddling" DIDN'T MAKE IT INTO THE FUCKING SHOW
(plus some of it was GOOD anyways)
