Shelf/Recent Buys Thread

Bought anything good? Read anything fun?

Slowly working through some Golden Age DC, just a few books left to buy.

House of X was so damn good. I’m not gonna read anymore and just read the rest when the HC comes out. Damn it feels good to be following X-Men again

So, is there anything must have coming out soon, or should I focus on older stuff for a while?

Just bought v1 of Waid's Flash at my LCS today.

St shipped my Tuesday order Fed EX. I have no idea why I did not pay for an upgrade. Anyway they get here tomorrow. It will be a good day.

Why is there spaghetti in that taco shell?

>Just Imagine Book One
What a rip off, I've got the Omnibus and it's about the same size as the Morrison Batman Omnis.

These threads always come up when I've already put away my bought floppies for the week and my off times when I haven't bought any trades.

New Mutants Epic Collection: Demon Bear just showed up. Never read a New Mutants comic in me loife but it's got prime Bill Sinkywinky artwork so I'm sold.

Also why do people keep meming that epic collections are lower quality now? This one is perfect, same as all the other ones.

>Lady Cop
Every /shelf/ thread people are howling for a Lady Cop collection. Our prayers have been answered !

2/3 finally tracked down a copy of Solo. I like how the artists had free reign of all DC's licences and most of them predominantly just made their own stuff

How are Promethea and Top 10?

Went to SDCC. Got a ton of autographs. Ba and Moon were super nice and spoke pretty good English

Top 10 is Alan Moore's best fun work. Fantastic art. Havent read Promethea yet but its pedigree is amazing so Im confident itll be great

Thanks.

Kurt Busiek was also super friendly but man he needs to lose weight. He was winded just talking to people. He seems like he's gonna die soon desu.

Bill Sienkiewicz was a jerk. Flat out a jerk. Didnt talk to anyone. His booth handlers were excellent though thankfully.

John Romita Jr however was beyond friendly. great booth management. Great signing policies.

Gene Ha was so so nice. I jokingly asked him to draw the ghostly goose since he's not seen in the book and he created an image of his human form. Zander Cannon was also nice

All the books except sleight I got at comic shops while on a work trip in Vegas. The Mignolaverse shirt was a welcome back present from the GF when I returned.. I dont think its licensed but I'm glad she found a shirt with mignolas art and not one with stuff from the films.

JRJr is a bro

like, at least 40% of the books in that catalog will be cancelled.
Especially since most of them don't have the #synergy that AT&T will like

DON'T STEP ON MY HOPES BUDDY

>all those possible collections of previously uncollected material
>the complete lack of new reprints of old Bendis material
Finally. It took them two years and like 25 new trades devoted to Bendis, but now they're finally free

Simonsons signature will forever be GOAT

.

I wanted Hitman in some thicc trades but that's never happening now.

I want to like Kindt but his art is so hit or miss. Those sketches are great.
I don't get it. I thought all of the first Mind MGMT volume was such a mess, but his issues for Sweet Tooth looked great.

>Wonder Woman by William Messner-Loebs Book One
ABSOLUTELY based and redpilled

Greetings from Mexico

Attached: comics-shelf.jpg (3000x2148, 1.67M)

In general I dont like his art but occasionally it just works for me for the story.

I think he goes too loose with the watercolors. Lemire occasionally does the same thing, and I think I've noticed it most in Underwater Welder. But Kindt gets way, way too loose way, way too often to where it's probably rarer for him to have a tight page.

you're probably right. I couldnt get ubto his art in Dept H sadly

I'm really glad that they are putting out Mesner-loebs WW and continuing with Waid's Flash. I may preorder Jonah Hex to ensure that DC actually releases it

Sucked my own dick in a dream last night. Feels good man

I can't bitch and moan too much since they were basically freebies in the end, but three of these got their corners bashed in thanks to Amazon's packers being a bunch of retarded chimps. Funnily enough, the Quicksilver one was just a cheapie pickup on a whim (which they had to send a second time after the first one got stolen out of my mailbox) was completely intact.

Well look what just showed up

Nice Televisa stuff. Also, how far are we on the Saint Seiya story so far with Panini? I didnt want to start at the beggining but I cant find where Posiedon starts in this version.

Get this dude a card.

cool to finally see this in the flesh

Attached: IMG_20190726_173801.jpg (2599x3764, 1.52M)

i know a discount shop near me where they have like 10 of those quicksilver trades for like 5.99

Yeah, read the first few issues last night and I can see why it's bargain bin fodder.

Same here, right next to a stack of Starman vol 1 paperbacks and Animal Man vol 5's

This comic has had some buzz on Yea Forums the last week or so. I should probably try it

you should, it's one of the best comics I've read.

Does anyone stack their single issue alongside their trades and hardcovers?

I have in the past. The only reason I don't anymore is because I ran out of space, and so all the flops got put into shortboxes. But if I had an unlimited amount of /shelf/ space then yeah, I would have everything on the /shelf/.

Redpill me on custom bindings /shelf/, is it worth it? What's the best way to go about it?

Depends on your philosophy.
For me, it's destroying the issues. I would never do such a thing. I would rather keep them in a box and flip through them like an art gallery. Sure it's harder to read but I don't care. I want the original comic, and that means a comic.

If you don't feel how I do, then it's a great way to create omnibuses that will never exist, and you can get creative with the way you design the spine and jacket.

No

so is The Seeds ever being finished or...

dude, SOLO is like holy grail-tier for me. I just got into it pretty recently through Paul Pope's OMAC and the Allred Batman stories. great stuff.

DC was onto some cool shit then, with Batman Black and White, Solo, Wednesday Comics. Wish they'd do more anthologies. Seems to attract really good creators.

They were at the trash curb, so I took 'em.

I'm planning on buying it too. After that storytime, I crave it.

Attached: WIN_20190726_18_57_05_Pro.jpg (1280x720, 158K)

>all those times I could have bought one of the numerous copies my local HPB had
I didn't know, bros. I didn't know.

It's not that expensive on the second hand market right now

Oh. You're right. That other guy's comment about it being his holy grail and a cursory search were both very misleading.

Bought 4 covers of House of X #2 last week. Buying these next week

Attached: Screenshot_20190726-180954_Samsung Internet.jpg (1439x484, 301K)

Meant to say #1

I can't get into the heads of people that buy every cover. You do realize in the back of collected editions they have all the covers there, right?

>Wonder Woman by William Messner-Loebs Book One

Is this good?

This has also reminded me to get vol 2-3 of Perez omnis.

> Absolute Fourth World by Jack Kirby Vol. 1

THE TIME HAS COME
AND SO HAVE I

Here are my recent buys. Both Batbooks were great and I'm really excited to start reading Moonshadow.

Yeah that's part of his true crime book I think. I've seen him do it last year. Cool guy

.Conceited how? Because he charges after the first signature?

Had something signed by him earlier this year, his handler snatched the five out of my hand so fast it barely registered. Sienkiewicz never came off as a jerk to me.
I want Shade, the Changing Man Omnibus(es) dammit.
I'd like a reprint of We3 in HC too

Anyone else hyped for IDW's colorizations of Usagi? I never really bought any of the previous editions and seeing some of the HC were out of print kinda killed my interest. Does anyone know if IDW can colorize and reprint everything?

whats that shirt?

whoops

Attached: image.jpg (3242x3024, 2.01M)

I'm assuming Tom Luth who is coloring the current ongoing is going to be the one doing the colors for the reprints, so they should look fine. I'm happy to have all the old stuff in b&w though

>>Wonder Woman by William Messner-Loebs Book One
litty
and
hyped

Do we know if the Saga line is continuing in any way? I want to start reading Usagi, but if it was in black and white I'd prefer to keep those stories that way and collect them.

What is the red Batbook?

No idea, the last Saga book leaves two regular trades uncollected. Dark Horse has a hardcover collection of all the cover art coming out and that could be their final UY book

Looks like Year 100

It's just an image from the poster comic shops were giving away last "Hellboy day" celebrating 25 years of hellboy / seed of destruction

Attached: IMG_20190726_180716_973.jpg (2160x2700, 1.32M)

>Batman Black and White, Solo,
Their new boss fired the man responsible for those books last year.

Wonderful.
At least a Batman Black and White omnibus is on the way. Don't you dare cancel this one, DC.

>Wish they'd do more anthologies. Seems to attract really good creators.
Their seasonal one-shots usually have bad sales, and the last full on anthology they tried crashed.
Only six issues, and "Legends of Tomorrow" (filled with veteran writers like Len Wein, Kieth Giffen, and Conway) bombed
03/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #1 -- 18,753
04/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #2 -- 12,728 (- 32.1%)
05/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #3 -- 11,354 (- 10.8%)
06/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #4 -- 9,677 (- 14.8%)
07/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #5 -- 8,681 (- 10.3%)
08/2016: Legends of Tomorrow #6 -- 8,432

>Their seasonal one-shots usually have bad sales, and the last full on anthology they tried crashed.
That's funny. Those 80 page specials are the only floppies I buy from DC.

Mark Chiarello was likely fired because he was a VP for a long time, and had a good salary (working for them for 26 years and was their art director for over a decade). I loved Solo and Batman B&W (and he also did Wednesday Comics), but those projects were literally done over a decade ago.

>666
>From Hell
nice.

Time to grab some numbers
>May 2019
>Dog Days of Summer #1 10,431

>January 2019
>Mysteries of Love In Space 11,715

>November 2018
>DC Nuclear Winter Special 17,253

>October 2018
>Cursed Comics Cavalcade 20,275

>July 2018
>DC Beach Blanket Bad Guys Special 15,033

>February 2018
>Young Monsters In Love 13,218

>December 2017
>DC Universe Holiday Special 2017 19,269

>October 2017
>DC House of Horror 16,967

Alright, those numbers are not as terrible as I thought, especially since each of those issues was $9.99. The summer and valentines issues definitely have a lower swing.
Now, for showcases of new talent, here's the numbers
>New Talent Showcase (2017--Published November 2016) 12,451
>New Talent Showcase 2017 9,415
>New Talent Showcase 2018 11,803

Shit I missed Cursed Comics Cavalcade. I'm gonna see is my LCS has any copies next time I go.

>New Talent Showcase
I love this thing. My my favorite DC floppy every year.

I'm not surprised they're unpopular. They're usually 8 or 10 bucks. But for me it's such better value than floppies. Floppies are 4 bucks for 22 pages of story. Specials are 10 bucks for 80 pages of story. And they're stories. They go "The End" when you're finished reading, not "To Be Continued" for 5 more months. I vote with my dollar: fuck floppies, love specials.

why can't i find it on google. did you make it yourself.

>>Wonder Woman by William Messner-Loebs Book One
Put out a fucking omnibus already.

I'd want the omnibus to be fully complete, so it would be everything in HC from Perez-->WML-->Byrne.
But with these it looks like they'll skip the issues he did not write, so he would get all the reprint money for them. They did the same thing when Norm Breyfogle had a stroke. If these sell well enough (or get made at all), then I'd like them to do a full one.

.

I wanted to get some local Hellboy reprints but they are nowhere to be found but I got a 20% discount on this so it all worked out.

Attached: 15641991336462034952372.jpg (2448x3264, 726K)

Kind of weird to only have pull quotes about Poe and not about Corben himself. I'm assuming this is a collection of the Marvel MAX stuff

In interviews Bill always seems great. And ive seen videos at smaller cons where he's great. Maybe its just SDCC that brings out apathy in some creators (which I can kinda understand)

great tastes my friend. Moonshadow is wonderful and From Hell was one if my favorite Moore books.

Yeah is a collection of the Haunt of Horror minis, and Corben's name is only mentioned twice in the whole edition which triggers me.

It's great, I got my Danny Ketch Ghost Rider,Spirits of Vengeance,Blade,Midnight Massacre and Siege of Darkness issues done and love them. Gonna do 70's Ghostie , Static, Nightmare on Elm street and Blood Syndicate next.

Fucking support the single issues if you enjoyed it otherwise you're gonna get a run cut short due to poor sales. I'm willing to double dip on this series if they make an Omnibus down the line.

I would've assumed his name wold carry more weight in foreign comic markets

Sale going on at Instocktrades for the weekend, any recommendations for Omnibus Yea Forums?

Those are some nice sketches. Cool signs overall m8

What do you like?

Well I don't know about that, I really love Corben's art but some people find it unappealing and even if it's a beautiful edition it basically flew under the radar.

Well this is my collection so far and I have the Walter Simonson Thor Omnibus in the mail as well

Attached: IMG_20190726_221434.jpg (2081x4127, 1.26M)

Is there a code??

Get the new Conan omni's Marvel is releasing. It's great stuff.

Attached: Screenshot_20190726-225429~2.png (1434x2419, 353K)

I'm also tempted to buy the Grant Morrison New X-Men omnibus and maybe Uncanny X-Men vol 1 Omnibus (but probs not since vol 2 and 3 or out of print as well as the Jim Lee X-Men omnibuses)

...

Where do you get these notices?

What's the print status on those Punisher omnis?
I'm not big on Marvel, but I've read Barracuda a few times here, and I'm interested in Punisher and Fury MAX.

>They go "The End" when you're finished reading, not "To Be Continued"
Except a good number of those New Talen Showcase stories end with to be continued, except they don't continue. Do you not read these comics, user? Do you just buy them for the shiny cover?

Bump

Does the second Morrison Batman omnibus have any extra material?

Yes it has issue notes, sketches and stuff about character design and junk

But no new pages like the first omnibus?

I don’t know user, I blind bought both of them. I had no idea there was extra content in V 1, because it was my first time through.

>Gerard Jones
Speaking of, what are the essential stories from him? I figure I should start picking them up before they become impossible to find.

Remarkable lack of anything I want to buy. Where is the third LOSH SA omni?

>Absolute Fourth World by Jack Kirby Vol. 1
Oh fuck yes

>Starman: The Cosmic Omnibus Vol. 1
OH SHIT

monkeys paw. The starman omni is like 1600 pages

All the LoSH reprints they did for the 50th anniversary sold terribly, so they've stopped.
Not a single one sold more than 4000 copies

>Gail Simone Wonder Woman omni

Is her run good?

It has pretty decent art (for a mid 2000s book), and a few issues are good, but it's bookended by some pretty boring very long arcs.
It was much better than the not-run's that came before and after it (Allan Heinberg/ Jodi Picoult, and JMS's aborted reboot)

The omnis sold pretty well though, they were about on the level with the Superman omnis. And they're still cranking those out.

Meh, probably skip it then. Just finish out my Perez omnis and check out the Loebs run.

>The Flash: Savage Velocity
Oh nice, hopefully more of pre-Waid Wally gets collected after this

>Hickman X-men relauch selling badly
it'll overtake Hulk and Batman for sure. I don't think there is anything to worry about

Fucking loved it, so much has been reinvented. This does a way better job of reinventing the X-Men than Morrison's over rated run does. And I am excited cause X-Men finally have an editor worth his salt. Who even needs Jordan White when Hickman is doing his job for him?

read GWWilson's current Wonder Woman, it's really great, albeit some inconsistent art
Busiek does need to take care of himself more, but he's got major allergies that have put him on deaths door a couple times. I wish the best for him but I don't think he is that long for this world.
Russell seems like the guy that would chat your ear off and not care that there is a line. Would love to meet him
I need to read Ragnarok, how is it?
just saw the Kayfabe with Sienejwejwlfjklewa and he didn't come off like a jerk at all. Maybe he was having a bad day?
>freeballin
nice
damn, I had hoped he would do more work for Marvel but if he hates them that much I guess not. Then again, Hickman is shit talking Marvel and ended up taking over the entire X-Universe, so, who knows

>dreams of having a big dick.jpg

yes, when Orc Stain is finished
>People just buying for covers and speculation
X-Men is back bros!

I really enjoyed Dog Days of Summer
>Buying stuff from a pedophile

>read GWWilson's current Wonder Woman, it's really great, albeit some inconsistent art

I'll check it out, thanks.

Cretaceous was fucking brilliant. recommend it to any fans of stuff like Age of Reptiles and Tyrant. It is a silent comic about the life of a T-Rex and god damn does it get brutal.

Auroraman is really dumb and just a compilation of stories that are supposed to continue in other stuff. But I just found it in a small town on my way to visit my dad at the farm and just wanted to support a small town creator. Cool that Canada has a publisher that connects a bunch of small creators into a universe though.

Picked these up last weekend

Ordered Planetary omnibus, 20th century Boys perfect edition 1-4 and New Mutants epic vol. 2 (really excited to read this one)

>Hackman
Yikes!

>Devil You Know
Did you like it user? I hated it to the point I now pretend Arcudi’s last issue is the end of the series.
What a crash and burn.

Ragnarok is rad.

Yeah Bill seems chill mostly outside of my one experience. I blame the chaos of SDCC.

Any recent horror comics come out lately?

Attached: 2019-07-27 14.02.53.jpg (3264x2448, 1.49M)

I ended up with the cosplay cover, the only one they had left at my LCS. Selling through stores really well it seems.

She deserves it

absolutely based messner-loebs reprints. here's to hoping this comes out and they collect his flash next.

I've met Bill and he's kinda a dick
the exact opposite of Darrow, the nicest artist in the world

>Did you like it user?
Not really. I liked Hell on Earth a lot more.

He started writing Flash with 15, so that "Savage Velocity" contain 15-18, so hopefully it actually gets made and he gets paid for those issues

Asking here because I don't think it really deserves a thread but, did Dark Horse stop printing the paperback Milo Manara collections? Only the first 3 volumes seem to have them.

Who should write the inevitable Shang Chi relaunch? Will they do the boring predictable thing and give it to an Asian writer like Pak?

>Asian writer
this is a dumb trend. Give it to someone who write action well like Bryan Hill or Ellis

name a single writer that does personal fitness and fighting in the current year

Bryan Hill doesn't write anything well

American Carnage is great

You can find it on etsy, they have a bunch of shirts with mignolas art on them. I'm probably going to get the box full of evil one

It probably doesn't sold well enough

Outer Darkness is pretty good. It's not scary but it's a good horror-themed Star Trek by John Layman

Is it Star Trek or just like Star Trek? Because I know nothing about Star Trek

I usually get an email.

The softcovers are still easy to find. It is the Hardcovers that are pricey

Infidel was one of the best comics last year. Read it if you haven't yet. Infinite Dark is pretty good if you like Event Horizon type horror

Probably.

Did they release 4-5-6? I can't find them, only vol 1-3 (i'm in the UK)

My LCS has a few in softcover. I forget which but i think they have 5 in softcover

I have Manara Erotica vol 3 HC. I've been trying to sell it forever, but no bites.

I am interested but i spent all my spare money this month. You a /shelf/ regular?

It's just a lot like Star Trek. Except instead of pure sci-fi it has a lot of cosmic horror stuff going on. The ship's crew includes exorcists and oracles and stuff like that. It's kind of like Star Trek mixed with that movie Event Horizon.

Yes. These threads are the only reason I come to Yea Forums anymore.

kurt busiek nearly died of mercury poisoning and has suffered long term harm to his health because of it.

Hot from the post.

Attached: image.jpg (3264x2448, 1.68M)

That Kirby omni is good shit. I've been waiting for the Demon and OMAC reprints forever.

K. If you can wait another month i would probably buy it from you as long as you aren't marking it up like crazy

Sure. I'm trying to get $125 for it.

Then nope. Try asking a reasonable price

I picked up ASM Epic Vol. 7 for cover price on ebay today. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

That is a reasonable price. Good luck finding it or much cheaper.

Bought planet hulk vol 1 and doom patrol issue 36 at a convention

I'm sorry, the immortal hulk

T. Am drunk

I never thought marvel would reprint their omnibuses outside of stuff like Stan Lee ASM/FF because that stuff is dirt cheap to print (good ole days when creators got fuck all)

Then out of the blue they reprint Bendis DD, Ultimates, Astonishing XMen, Uncanny XForce? This changes the game. Now I’m certain Epic Collections will eventually be reprinted too. Sure it might take 10 years, but the precedent has been set.

Oh and Annihilation

They only reprint things if they think it'll make money. Those omnis probably didn't sell all that great originally so they probably thought no one would buy them if they reprinted.

Duh. They only print things period they think will make money. But usually they run reformat collections. Annihilation Omnibus is OOP? The next product is Annnihilation Complete Collection thicc trades. They usually don’t “repeat” themselves so to speak.

Until now

>Astonishing XMen
finally? oh god, this is amazing news, I was holding off on this until the omni

Yeah man. AND UXF. You can have an omnibus lineup on your X shelf that goes

X statix -> New X-Men -> Astonishing -> UXF

X-Kino

>New X-Men
nah, I don't want that. I think Morrisons run is highly over rated and has a TON of bullshit in it. Quietly is not suited at ALL for X-Men either and outside of the silent issue of Jean and Emma in Xaviers head is completely trash. Yea Forums praises that run way too much

I think that run is 10/10 (well some of the artists weren't great. story of morrison's career) and basically now we can't be friends so heck you

>thinking Xorn is Magneto is somehow 10/10

Buddy you should use spoiler tags. Someone might be in here who hasn’t read it

I am reading the Days of Mob stuff. It’s cool as hell.

it's their problem if they haven't read a 20 year old book. Otherwise you'd have to use spoiler tags for everything

Or you could just not spoil a run climaxing reveal out of spite because you hate the comic ?

don't act like this is some huge climactic reveal that makes ANY sense what so ever. It's shoe horned in and anyone reading this won't have this be any less of a Fuck Off moment when reading the run.

i was going to pick up berzerk but i don't have room for 13 volumes (IF the entire thing comes up instead of getting cancelled half way through)

Hey guys. Haven't bought much to update my shelf, but I'm still gonna post it.

Attached: Shelf June 2019.jpg (5296x2192, 3.46M)

You’re acting very un-/shelf/like

That's lot of spidey

>not being a hive mind
>being non/shelf/
sure user

You can’t have too much Spider-Man

Geoff Darrow will talk to you for hours if you let him. He's beyond sweet

It has nothing to do with hivemind. You hate New X-Men, big deal, want a medal? I hate tons of comics. But if my post involved a run climaxing reveal I would do a spoiler tag. Takes 5 seconds to type out. You're just being a jerk, go fuck yourself.

that's super sad. He's a very kind man

again, there is no need to spoiler a 20 year old comic.

Brubaker Captain America never ever

Fuck off. I'm not arguing in circles with you anymore.

I disagree but respect your opinion. However I find it nuts to not think Frank Quietly would be good for sentinels

That's basically why I don't collect much manga. It just goes on too long. Im always looking for stuff that has an ending and is only a few volumes. Planetes is perfect

ok, he was good with the Sentinels, will totally give you that.

true dat

Yeah this is the probem with manga. If I wanna get into One Piece, I need a whole unit just for that one title. I guess it's not a "problem". If you love something you want as much of it as you can get. But it can be daunting.

I bought two Epic Collections recently, they're on the way here so when they arrive, I'll judge... But from what I've read, most people have had good experiences with the recent Marvel collections, the problem is with the ongoing trades.

>ongoing trades.
Only suckers buy quarterly trades. High IQ individuals know OSH and thicc trades are down the line.

Yeah. No point in spending 10 bucks on a shitty paperback. Read online for free wait for the complete collection or deluxe

sometimes they never come out with oversized trades and stuff. Look at Mike Carey's X-Men Legacy run, it's just trades and will never get an omni or anything.

Depends, because a lot of great runs never come out in oversized trades or hardcovers. I'd kill for an Ewing's Ultimates run in hardcover because my trades are a little beat up due to lending and rereads, but alas, it didn't sell that well despite getting referenced everywhere since then.

And by the way, what said is our regular tactic that basically works not only in the US but everywhere else (I'm in South America), since it's cost efficient, supports quality titles and sends the right sign to the industry... But a lot of them don't get the message and expect the quickest sales return (floppies and trades) to actually maintain lesser known titles. It's a whole beast.

Attached: IMG_20171021_173955.jpg (791x1200, 248K)

It's definitely worth it.

People like have valid concerns, but once you've had enough comics for a long enough time, you realize that it's the best way of breathing new life back into them.

I wouldn't do it for any series made post-'95 though. The ads just get annoying and distract from the stories, while the paper quality starts to get wonky.

>and will never get an omni or anything.
How can you say that in the MCU era? I was reading forum posts from 2009 in a thread of people talking about their favorite issues of Shang Chi (because I wanted to know more about the run and these were legit boomers that picked up all the issues).

And in this thread they kept lamenting how this stuff was uncollected and would probably never be collected (because of low interest, but also because of legal issues regarding Fu Manchu).
Fast forward a decade and the entirety of the series is available in 4 omnibuses, and is also going to be out in Epic Collection eventually (2 volumes out so far).

Beyond the MCU, a new series can breathe life into an old one. Look at all the new Hulk collections that have sprouted up since Immortal Hulk revived the character (no pun intended). Paul Jenkins run? Omnibus. Peter David's run? Omnibus announced, January release.

We are living in a fucking reprint GOLDEN AGE (as least as far as Marvel in concerned.) Ruling out ANYTHING is foolishness.

eh, possible but I don't want to hold out and pray for years on end. And there will always be some mini's that never get a big collection. X-Club will always just be a TPB

You're not wrong because Annihilation, for example, got reprinted between last year and this one as two oversized trades and this December the omnibus is coming out, as well as more rare stuff like Speedball and classic Starjammers, but more recent runs that were long enough but not as good sales aren't as lucky.
But who knows really, maybe when the MCU actually decides to adapt Ultimates (or to make a team like theirs), a reprint will come. And they already said they were open to reprinting more Eternals materials closer to the movie premiere, which is encouraging considering that stuff has been long oop.

I can see Ultimates (are you referring to Hickman's?) getting a thicc trade because of the power of the Hickman brand, because he's recently returned to Marvel, and because Hickman's works all seem to be connected to each other.

No, I mean Ewing's (2015-2017). Millar's run will get an omnibus in October or November in fact, so maybe they'll be completists and reprint the entire thing as omnibuses.

Is Zatanna by Paul Dini worth a read?

speaking of Hickman. How does he get away with shit talking Marvel so much and then get the red carpet thrown out for him? it kinda baffles me.

Well Ewing I can see getting reprinted for the same reasons. Ewing has risen to the absolute top of Marvel creators in the last year, and Marvel will want to cash in on his popularity. His Loki has a thicc trade coming this Winter (I think it was solicited before the TV show was announced, so I have to assume some of the reason it's coming is because of the Ewing brand).

Absolutely. There's barely 20 issues of Zatanna ever published and most of that is Dini. If you like Zatanna, read it. If you don't like Zatanna, read it and have your mind changed.

Does anyone know what Richard Corben looks like? Dude is sort of elusive

Shit that's nothing compared to John Byrne. Byrne left Marvel in a fury only to be welcomed back and allowed to turn 90s Marvel into his personal fan fiction. Marvel's a business and if it makes dollars it makes sense.

Honestly I'd only recommend the hardcovers for die-hard fans of the series, it's just a really nice reprint and they clean up all the original scans to look much more crisp and detailed instead of muddy like the earlier paperback printings were.

>but i don't have room for 13 volumes
You make room.
Buy or make a bookcase for them.

What's the best way to get into OMAC? Is OMAC good? I loved the Paul Pope story in Solo

Really? I thought it was alright.

holy shit, Morrisonfags are autistic
settle down dude and smoke another doobie

>inserting yourself into a 2 hours+ old dead argument that didn't involve you

tbf, Morrisonfags are generally autistic. He writes good stuff but have you entered those Hypercrisis threads ever?

Yes, those threads are one bowl of koolaid away from a national tragedy.

>Morrisonfags are generally autistic.
It explains why they overlook how unnatural his dialogue is

His zany dialogue is something that I love about his writing. No one in comics talks quite like Morrison's characters. It's so weird and fun and comic booky in all the right ways.

The Demon got a complete softcover release a few years ago.

That's good. I'd love to see a Demon movie. If done right it could be incredible. But with DC's track record that might be a monkey's paw

What are good X-Men Omnibuses to get that are currently in print?

That I see
>X Men Classic
>New X-Men
Astonishing and Uncanny X Force will be back in print next year. That's about it. I expect the Claremont Uncannies will get reprinted within the next 5 years.

I've wanted to know this also. People usually recommend the original Kirby run, but my first encounter with OMAC was Byrne's black and white miniseries, which had a more gritty tone.

also X-Men Legacy by Si Spurrier

Oh forgot about that one. It wasn't for me, but I've seen a lot of praise for it. I felt the art wasn't up to snuff.

What the fuck? Hypercrisis threads are legitimately the best part of Yea Forums, and it depresses me we haven't had on in months. Sure there's a lot of hair-brained theories in there, but it's basically just a general where everyone talks about every comic.

It's half and half. Half are good comics talk, the other half is /x/ tier

newfags think hating on everything will make them fit in.

none of this says Morrisonfags are not autistic, if anything it adds to it

Every passionate fanbase on Yea Forums is autistic, so I don't know what your point is.

Could you please come up with a better insult than the generic one everyone uses.
Or maybe try to expand and explain why we're autistic.

I use it where it is applicable, and Morrisonfags totally apply. I honestly don't hate his work, a lot of it is good but god damn his fans are bat shit insane.

yeah especially since if i remember correctly he got it because he got it from old dental fillings

Why is it applicable? Please elaborate or people might assume you're fishing for (you)s.

like I said, go to hypercrisis threads or even X-men threads are filled with a few anons saying he was the best thing to happen to the X-Men. Morrisonfags will like anything he puts out. I am enjoying his Green Lantern fun but some anons pretend he is better than Moore or Gaiman.

autist demanding answers! no other authorfags are as insane

Sounds like you're having a tough time adjusting to the fact that people have different opinions than you.
Here's a juicebox to help you cope with this new realization.

Attached: file.png (356x400, 94K)

>Justice League of America: The Wedding of the Atom and Jean Loring
For what purpose? Anyone who remotely cared about that relationship is either dead or long-soured by Identity Crisis.

It's just the subtitle of the next Bronze Age JLA collection. DC decided volumes numbering scares people away and it's better to trick people into thinking something stands alone by giving it an unnumbered subtitle.

It's worse than that. Didio was trying to move away from using the words "Bronze Age" in the title before giving up and using it for Jonah Hex.
So that hardcover is only part of (~33%) what was supposed to be in the cancelled Bronze Age Justice League vol 3 omnibus
>JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA: THE BRONZE AGE OMNIBUS VOL. 3
>Collects Justice League of America #147-181
>$125 USD
So he's charging you $69.99 for
>Justice League of America issues #149-158 and Super-Team Family #13-14.
and the promise that it will continue if sales are better. There's a gap in the solicitation, but allegedly someone with a contact in the trade department confirmed that the text is a mistake and that it includes 147-148 as well.

I like Morrison, but not X-Men.
I’m not sure I care so much who is “better” as I do what I like.
Why would anyone wait for a hypercrisis thread for autism when we have Alan Moore/Watchmen threads every day?

>Alan Moore/Watchmen threads
Those are pretty much just Moorehate threads.

It's a thing they've learned from Marvel.
The Epic's I own have no number on the spine or cover. They just have the name of the series and a subtitle.
On the inside however, the table of contents says the volume number, right next to an advertisement for other trades ("each one a starting point!")

Well, as much as I hate it he's not wrong. Just look at all the retards from Yea Forums whining about how confusing Yea Forums volume numbers are.

List of properties getting Bronze Age Omnibuses before Batman and Superman
>Batgirl
>Doom Patrol
>The Joker
>Robin
>Teen Titans
>JLA

Thanks DC. Robin, Batgirl, and Joker all have Bronze Age Omnibuses and Batman doesn't. Thank you so much DC

>Alan Moore/Watchmen threads every day?
those only popped up with the Yea Forums show. I have never been to one cause I have no plans in watching the show, so I have no idea how the posters react in them. but I kinda assume it's mostly generic Yea Forums posters

Epic Collections are honestly perfect. They all have the same trade dress. They have all the information. It doesn't change. It's all one line, covering all the titles without overlap. Literally all DC has to do is copy the line and call it Complete Collections or some shit.

Epics have the volume number on the back cover

Attached: image.jpg (3264x2448, 1.59M)

bump

what are you lad reading?
I'm reading some Master of Kung Fu to educate myself for the upcoming film

Attached: 67-1.jpg (420x633, 45K)

Reading the fan-made post crisis Superman trades. Just skimmed through the Zero Hour one (around vol 70/449).
I totally see why Supes from this time is so poorly collected. Too many books, too many issues.
It is neat that it acts like a well planned event the entire time though. It must have been a nightmare editorially.

I'm going through Morrison's X-men but decided to read the series that went alongside so I'm reading X-treme X-men and UXM too

Finished the Thanos Wins hardcover that came a bit ago and am currently reading JMS Amazing Spider-Man and already love it one issue in.

They've done it before. The Archive Editions were a copy of Marvel Masterworks and the Showcase books were a copy of Essentials.

Say what you will about Marvel but they have always been more collection-savvy than DC. Always, since the 90s.

Do Batman or Superman have a Silver Age Onmi out yet?
No? I wonder if that's because they intend to start that after the Golden Age?

Think occasionally.

Golden Age comics are shit why do we need all these Golden Age omnis. Put together a "best of" and call it a day

>best of
You make me sick.
