I miss it when Woody had a bit of an edge to him. Every sequel acted like he was pure of heart and was incapable of feeling animosity towards another toy.

Well he couldn't exactly go throwing toys out windows after that. That's the kind of thing you don't get away with twice.

Woody was a very nice and beloved character before Buzz's arrival. After learning to let go and accept sharing Andy, he came back to his old self.

What I miss when he and Buzz were power bros. TS3 and 4 made Buzz a joke again and reduced his role, after him being so mature in TS2. He used to be as important as Woody. We will probably get a TS5 in ten years or something that tells a story with Buzz now that Woody is retired but still, dang.

>in ten years
Pixar's already established precedence. I expect Toy Story 5 will come out a lot sooner.

Toy Story 4 had Buzz reduced to a running gag. It's fucking sad, really

Pixar probably didn't know what to do with Buzz after 2

They announced TS4 in 2011, man
I don't expect TS5 to release any sooner than in another 8 years at minimum. And I do want them to do so. Love the shit out of these toys.

The "edge" of Woody's characterization is a leftover from an earlier script when Woody was obviously the main antagonist.

Which he still is in the final film, but much more layered and nuanced.

2 is the best in the series and probably the best animated sequel made.

iI's frustrating because Buzz is the action guy when it comes to his brand of leadership. Woody has always been good at being sort of the heart and the brains, but Buzz is inspiring and prone to bold decisions. I liked that dynamic.
