It really seems like for what little interaction we've seen it's Jade trying to hold out olive branches to her that just get ignored by Rose on a consistent basis. I agree they definitely have a vibe of 'friend of a friend' where if they both didn't have Dave or John as linking points they'd never bother associating of their own free will.

Thought for this thread: Eridan as a character was an allegory for Hussie's old racist beliefs. He made him foreveralone and a tool as a way of subconsciously atoning for his earlier racy comics.

He called him a Yea Forums nastyboy and Nepeta the innocent shipping fangirl.

Also Eridan had a cool flying ship hive before it crashed and he knew Karkat before Sgrub.

I've never seen a writer have such a firm grasp on several likable characters and then proceed to take all the joy out of reading about them.

If you did pretty much the exact opposite of everything Hussie did, you'd have a good Homestuck.

Bows out doesn't always mean by choice. Her death was good enough. And besides, I'm not saying all of these things have to happen or that they shouldn't die horribly and fail or some such, just that simply doing the opposite of what Hussie did is enough. He did his utmost to make it miserable.
