Its one of the more touching aspects of the show that in most episodes Gus and Wall's relationship isn't really treated as unusual, but they make it clear that in the 50's when they met, they weren't exactly tolerated. In a show that doesn't take itself seriously, they took a moment to show that the two of them came a long way together
