Buu was one long and obnoxiously drawn out arc.
Only reason Cell never came back was because his spots made him obnoxious to draw/animate so they just let him be.

From what can be deducted, she'll most likely be a high ranking gem, who is pissed that Steven has been dismantling colonies and disrupting the status quo of the Gempire for the past two years. Her plan is to kill Steven, and use the giant injector to create a new Pink Diamond who will undo what Steven brought with him and bring back the old order to the Homeworld.

What are these original ideas that don't go anywhere? I'm curious. Rebecca is super autistic when it comes to foreshadowing and paying things off.

As blatant as the Ōgon Bat Lapis situation seems I doubt it was anything more than a coincidence.
Rebeca Sugar seems like too much of a casual to even know what Ōgon Bat is let alone rip off a character design from it.
The fusion experiments are a big one that never took off and was mostly forgotten outside of the now inexplicably sane Cluster.
