It's a WB Animation Studios property, they don't get much announcements aside from articles and TV promos.

One can only hope

except it hasn’t been in either

it's a blowback from how much criticism it took at airing. The official video is at way too many dislikes. The other social medias are even worse. The big reason this has so many shitting in their pants is because this is a major sign of change. That the media market is getting tired of this storytelling style. That the AT art era is drawling to a close and that many, many artists are going to suffer what a lot did a decade ago and will be either out of work or have to radically change their style to keep in the business. CN has been struggling to keep ratings up and looking at Roar it seems they saw this as a hope of getting numbers like they use to when all signs point it's going to be lucky to have an audience at all. As such troves are pouring in crying "give it a chance!" because they know if this burns to the ground most animation companies will consider other styles and forgo this type of animation for awhile. It happen in the 80s, 90s and 00s. This is just the next step.

>It happen in the 80s, 90s and 00s.

*It happened in the 80s, 90s and 00s.

See me after class!

I kind of feel bad for the director. He just wanted to have a fun show and he genuinely believed it's going to be great.

Like the animation in the intro looked good, it's just that it doesn't work as Thundercats. It might have worked as an original project and without the dumbass comedy.

You mean besides that merch bag the handed out?

These threads made me think the dumb show was announced like 3+ years ago like that regular show thing but fucks sake it was announced may 2018. Your autism can't even be kept in check for two years?

It can't even be kept in check for two DAYS

its amazing how the power of the public can destroy a entire project.
The Thundercats ROAR backlash was so huge, that it even change the industry a little
>more cartoons are using different head shapes
>less remakes are being announced (not counting Disney).
keep in mind, WB takes critics and backlash so seriously. if the public doesn't like it, they will fix it.

WTF? So CN had a ThunderCats Roar tote bag made specially for SDCC, but didn't have any announcements for the show?

My hunch based on this and Megan Fisher's twitter is the current form of the show (at the very least) is done and they're trying to bury it as gracefully as they possibly can at this point.

May as well. 99% of the internet hates it and I'm pretty sure the crew would've been torn limb from limb if they attended SDCC.

>Is this really the normal way of looking for work in the industry? Twitter posts?

Sucking up to animators/artists/directors on twitter and tumblr is how most storyboard artists get hired, these days. That's how half the boarding staff on Steven Universe got their jobs.

I feel bad for the entire crew. Most of this was out of their control.

-Forced to work on a project that was clearly the brainchild of an executive armed with "market research" and polling data.
-Marketing makes promos that come across as smarmy and insincere.
-Do the right thing by not engaging most of the shitstorm after the teaser was released, but the fire keeps getting stoked by "friends" and brownosers.
-Controversy becomes so big it gets picked up by clickbait media who add a socio-political slant to it, inviting even more bad actors from all sides to join in.

All this because a few people can't take sincere criticism, internet suck ups, and social media tribalism.

>I feel bad for the director

You shouldn't.

Attached: untitled.png (677x584, 462K)

the people whining aren't the target audience

honestly, i don't think it even matters. shows get completely pants-on-head assbackswards reboots a ton of the time. it's just something that happens, there's no point railing about it

yes, it's becoming industry standard. if you can't twitter you're basically fucked.

it's called networking and it's always been done you stupid autist

This fucker alone increased the shitstorm a tenfold

Attached: nico childhood.jpg (583x476, 50K)

I thought people were pissed because it amounts to another Teen Titans Go, with a weird amount of nostalgia based stuff that the creators were also trying to imply that it was not for anything who might actually be nostalgic in the first place. Or some weird contradiction like that.

It looks so much like an actual show made by those weird people in class that never really learned how to draw and never once bothered learning anatomy whatsoever and convinced themselves they were drawing masters and did not need to learn anything new. And then somehow managed to get into a position where they really did make a show.

No shit

Not as much by fans, but Fox has a huuuuuuge history of canceling shows before the pilot airs, or while the pilot is still airing. For some reason between 1992-2010 no two execs could agree on anything for their network.

Okay then, Bensonfag. See you when you don't get angry at your employees.

Wow, the very first thing listed on that page is exactly what was asked for. Public outcry got a show canned fast right after the first trailer aired.

Where's the implication of this?

Yea twitter is the new means of networking with working professionals and communicating and getting jobs

Except they did it in tumblr back in the day. Around 2011 it was an amazing place for networking between artists and working boarders. Nothing today really holds the same level as that for a space artists can meet and get jobs. Twitter is okay but damn hard to filter through to see work. And places like Artstation and Instagram are damn hard to spot lesser known people or anyone that does not already have a massive following.

So based on this two things, could be they tried to make it a little bit more similar to the original after backlash, but it seems they barely change it?

>-Do the right thing by not engaging most of the shitstorm after the teaser was released, but the fire keeps getting stoked by "friends" and brownosers.

I think this was the real problem. It would have come and gone in a couple days at the most and then the outrage camp would have gone on to the next thing to complain about. The staff did leave it completely alone. But people like Nico and Corey Barnes had to shoot their mouths off and start threatening other people with blacklisting if they ever said a single thing against it, and continued doing that for almost a month. That ONLY hurt things.

You can still use Tumblr so long as you don't post porn. If you're networking to get a gig on a kid's cartoon, you probably don't need to be showing off porn.

Honestly the blame all falls on the people in charge of character design. Even if it was a bad on all fronts and had a "cutesy" style, the outrage wouldn't have swelled to such an extent if Lion-O didn't look like Steven Universe in a goofy outfit.

I'm amazed at how he is incapable of separating his own personal bias from the work of other people.

>I don't like it
>Therefore I don't care if anyone else liked it! No one should like it because I didn't!!

Attached: 456555213.jpg (570x570, 65K)

It's not really the same since most people left tumblr, a little before the porn purge. For a variety of reasons tumblr was dropped as a major platform for sharing art and finding people. It was more a mix of random spambots taking over comments of any remotely popular image, and the site itself gaining a bad reputation for reactionary politics and appearing in the news a little too often.

Nice try, employees love me.

Attached: giphy.gif (500x281, 410K)

No dude,Courtright did nothing wrong. When the controversy blown up,he merely put his Twitter in private instead of antagonizing the fans like Nico Colaleo-something

It's hard to feel sympathy for a guy who wears the faggiest manbun ever seen and refers to himself as "Bossy Boy". Sorry.

>I'm such a fan of the old show that I'm gonna turn it into something it was never intended to be

Attached: pebbles-flinstone-the-flintstones-2.31.jpg (210x239, 20K)

Manbuns look retarded but if you hate someone cause of how they wear their hair then you're worse than a woman

it was both. people didn't like rebooting thundercats into another cal arts show.

>Honestly the blame all falls on the people in charge of character design.
Sure, I think most people who criticized the trailer were turned off most by the designs. People can have sincere disagreements. Fans got their say, and the crew replied a bit, and it should have been done there. But no, twitter brownosers decided to go beyond defending the show, and say that the fan's opinions were invalid and that they should keep quiet. Nothing triggers an internet PR nightmare faster than telling someone they have no say. It's a very ugly smuggery and it has thoroughly tainted this show far before launch.

Nico injected himself into this whole thing so strongly that people genuinely thought he had something to do with the production.

Attached: 17.png (585x522, 55K)

Yet all it took for him to get back in the good graces of Yea Forums was to make a webtoon with a waifu or two in it.

>imagine being so hated that it only takes a character designer and for you to get your shit back together to make a decent show to get everyone off your back.

I'm torn, but without Weir... This nigga would still be the laughingstock of the town.

Attached: 839f56149081a6c000bd11c558d2c4ff244bc271.png (937x1036, 243K)

His show has waifus? All I heard about was him hiring some hack frauds to provide voices.

No, that was the result of the Disney buyout and tied into the decision to get rid of all the self-parodying Star Wars stuff in the theme parks.

The idea was that with Sequel Trilogy being thought of as a new entry point for kids, they didn't want Detours to derail the sanctity of that moment.

Probably is still a shit tier comedy show (Teen Titans Go! style) but I can see some changes in the final designs.

That's right Jay.

I kind of feel bad for those dumpy fat hipsters now...well they probably have rich families so not really...

But I mean it was the executives fault not just theirs.

for what ? to cause tismostorm?

wasn't just this, bit the people in the animation industry who implied they'd gatekeep aspiring animators out if they knew you talked shit about this garbage on twitter
that fucking bullshit "this caricature of lion-o with a floppy tentacle arm calling his sword a "magic slicing stick" is good because we say it is, and if you don't think so you'll never be an animator like us uwu"
the anger was potent.

I think a few of those things were coming along anyway.

So, it's become LinkedIn was supposed to be?

and thats how lunatics like zuke ended up there

I swear to god he looks like someone out of some comedy show's skit about how cartoons are made

They got a job into an incredibly, ridiculously competitive market and only by being one of the hand picked few. It definitely helps develop an ego.

The real problem is that they are now waving the word "Blacklist" over people's heads as a solid defense against any level of criticism. Which lets them be free to churn out any old shit at their leisure.

The show could literally be 32 12 minute segments of all the characters farting and laughing and it'll still get views. Kids are stupid. They don't expect the "boomers" to watch it. They just want them to go "oh hey, Thundercats, I remember that. I'll leave it on the TV for little Billy".

>your favorite show that never happened might have been smothered in the crib by wahmen gossip
Oh nice.

I'm fairly sure their shitty behavior about this situation would get them into one of their so called blacklists aswell.

Nico comes across as the type of fucker who will shit on 2019 Lion King because it's cool to do so since everyone is doing it, but the instant he gets employed by Disney, he'll start sucking that movie's dick and telling everyone how hard people worked on it and not to disrespect it.

It hurts how much things would improve if everyone who lives in LA died overnight.

A lot of people use Twitter as their portfolio site as well, so it's very common to have a post saying you're looking for work pinned on your dashboard and then just scrolling down allows you to see their work.

And there's a fucking ton of productions going on at once. A lot of pilots being made, a lot of commercials that need to be done, a lot of last-minute artists that producers need to find because someone on the team dropped out, and a decent sized number of pilots that get approved for a season and suddenly need an entire team for a year's worth of production.

Most studios have their own private recruiter recommendations network (As in, a website that gets shared with employee e-mails where you just submit names into basically a google sheet) where employees can submit names, portfolios, and preferred job titles of artists for recruiters to check out. I've gotten offered a board test before for a show that was not looking for people, but wanted to have my work on file and all because the instant you click on my Twitter page, you're bombarded with art.

Lots of eyeballs on Twitter, so it's a fast way to get exposure.

Didn't they show bags or some shit like that, fuck I hope this shit is really really REALLY dead.

>tfw loved Milk & Cheese, but find this tweet really fucking patronising
Guess that makes me a crybaby millenial or some dumb shit

I love Twitter, it's a new way of shitposting and baiting. Every board has a sizable number of threads that are centered around Twitter screen shots, and anons fall for it every time

>Fell for it.

You hit the nail right on the head. He’s very keen on bragging about all the industry connections he has but in reality he’s a self conscious cowardly loser. Most people in animation are creeped out or annoyed by him anyway. Doesn’t help that he’s creepy to freelancer women

Based Evan.
I hate this reboot because it looks like absolute shit in it's own right not because it is tied to a couple of series I enjoyed.

This but unironically.

i just saw a dude the other day at work who had a retarded "manbun" with barely any hair, like this

Woah, really now? Details?

It's not "dead" but CN clearly doesn't want it anymore.
My guess is this is streaming fodder destined to either be buried by the Boomerang app or Netflix purgatory

that sjw shit from crunchy is the only thing that comes to my mind

That seems like an insult to Garfield

From what I see on twitter, storyboard artist and an animation director on the show have both moved onto other shows. I assume the ordered season has wrapped up in-house production and WB is either waiting for the remaining episodes to come back from the designated animation studio, or they are sitting on all the completed episodes deliberating on how to best distribute them. I'm hoping balls to the walls shameless to rile up the same vigor that TTGo induced.
