Dun dun dun! There you have it folks, Foolkiller. Criminally underrated/unknown, hopefully this storytime gave it a bit more exposure. I'd tell you to go support it, but it's never been officially collected, so the best you can do is pester marvel about releasing something. Until next time, arrivederci!

But he has a tv show, he was the villain in season 3 of Jessica Jones, not that anyone gave a shit

ABSOLUTELY BASED

AHHHHHH THAT WAS AWESOME THANK YOU
Do you have a download link for the whole thing maybe?

The Zorro look was better, a shame really.

He is right tho I'm only reading this because I'ma tourist from /tg/

hahaaa

Fucking backhand

Damn this site is slow. Thank you regardless.
This was fucking awesome.

OH the irony in this image is perfect and is perfectly applicable to today's mess.

Not "greatest of all time" material, but quite good nonetheless. This is a must read. Thanks OP.

Aww nice, always meant to read this.

Honk honk

Bump so Yea Forums reads some quality comics for once.

...

Magic Conch, am I a fool?

This is pure lunacy and I love it.

EVERYONE GET IN HERE!

THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST COMIC EVER MADE!

BETTER THAN WATCHMEN!

meh

Well, fuck. We're killing kids now, I guess.

I mean, the little shits having coming, but I didn't expect to see it in a comic book.

...

This is a great page.

Aww.

Saved this page. Excellent philosophy.

Don’t go saying things like this in public, you’ll be called a boomer.

>108899074
>got HIV?
>YOU DIE NOW
Best hero of all time.

for good reason.

>I LOVE YOU.
>SHALL WE MAKE IT A SANDWICH?
Imagine if he had actually raped him before vaporizing him, wouldn't that been fun hahaha?

But /pol/ are the very fools he'd kill, on the left or the right. People so blinded by an ideology that they're self-destructing.

This was fantastic. Thank you, OP.

Absolutely criminal that this hasn't been collected.

Thanks for introducing Foolkiller to me OP

Thanks so much. I rarely use the "where has this been all my life?" cliché, but this deserves it. Better than any other superhero 'deconstruction' I've read.

The weird part is he barely interacted with him. I don't get why Bendis had Foolkiller in that prison in New Avengers wanting revenge on Spider-Man.

Is that the kidney lady from Howard the Duck?

>there's a ufo society in Broklyin who believes the Emir of Kuwai is a SKRULL
They were right.

Last time he wa used was by Daniel Way on his Deadpool run and he tried to kill Deadpool because he was jealous a female psychiatrist was lusting over Wade instead of him.. Truly, a fate worse than death.
Because Bendis is a hack, that's why.

I think I can recognize the gys in the third panel:
Klaus Nomi, Sammy Haggar, Madonna Axel Rosse, Flavor Flav

It's very much part of the Marvel Universe, even before that Spider-Man guest appearance. Just look at the flashbacks:

references Man-Thing
has Omega The Unknown, Valkyrie, Hellcat
Spider-Man

And of course references the Skrulls.

Someone needs to straight up ignore what Way and Bendis did with the character.

Spidey fought a Foolkiller in ASM, but I forget which one it was.

There was a short-lived new Foolkiller series a few years ago.

A fourth, unnamed Foolkiller was also introduced in a recent Daredevil story.

He stands against what they push now.

Bamp

It was Salinger.

Did you not even read the story? He basically kills anyone with an opinion.

That's why I said a legacy character.
Let him be Foolkiller #5.
Hell, make it a cute white girl that fights for conservatism like the first and pit her against Ms Marvel.

Why the fuck hasn't the Punisher gotten his hands on a Foolkiller gun?

So, correct me if i'm wrong, but did Kurt kick Mendoza's ass, swap clothes with Mendoza while he was unconscious, and flee the building, knowing the swat team would kill Mendoza thinking he was Kurt?

That about sums it up

this is a good comic

This page just reminded that "Voices That Care" existed.
It was a song back in my highshcool choir class and we watched the video with it.
I never understood what they were caring about though...

10/10 good show

bumping to read

This is my favorite vigilante character. Probably the only time I was upset at a characters development, having him turn up as a crazed murderer working for The Hood.
How did that even happen?

Really is. The paneling with their faces is genius.

I'm not convinced Bendis read this comic at all.

LIVE A POEM

So, Kesel and Kitson's Bloodsport had a bit of foolkiller in him, didn't it?

Attached: P00026.jpg (1961x3015, 1.74M)

Which one is he killing on Friday?

Oh yay, it's a great story for once.

When can I expect Marvel to actually release this in TPB?

-Bendis put Gerhardt in as one of the villains captured at the Raft who wants revenge on Spider-Man for inexplicable reasons
-Way further characterizes Gerhardt like this user said: -Max Bemis, probably going by the Bendis comic, seems to have read the comic but also those shitty comics that Bendis and Way did so Gerhardt seems really off.

Your only hope is people at Marvel actually read this thread and figured out what a shitshow Bendis and the rest did and retcons it out.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE COVER FROM THE SERIES?

I'm going to go with

-Bendis put Gerhardt in as one of the villains captured at the Raft who wants revenge on Spider-Man for inexplicable reasons
-Way further characterizes Gerhardt like this user said: -Max Bemis, seems to have read the Gerber comic but also those shitty comics that Bendis and Way did so Gerhardt seems really off.

Your only hope is people at Marvel actually read this thread and figured out what a shitshow Bendis and the rest did and retcons it out.

Thank you, Wesley.

Finally.

I remember Bemis once said that when he took the job, he was really only familiar with Foolkiller MAX.

OP, DID YOU SKIP A PAGE?

Really amazing book. Thanks.

This is so flawlessly written. I can't fucking put it down.

Gerber was kind of like that. Only thing this book was missing was an elf... an elf with a gun!

Attached: The Elf With a Gun.jpg (280x435, 40K)

His Foolkiller mini kept getting recommended here but I just find it okay, I just felt like Gerhardt and Salinger seemed off, but that's partly because he was working with what Duggan set up for Salinger and Bendis and Way set up for Gerhardt.

dat nigga dead

If i remember, there was a Foolkiller in the MAX verse who met the Punisher, although he used a sword cane instead of a gun

I wonder if that was intentional.

>headbutts a rat to death

The necklace is the weirdest part.

I love how they went out of there way to show how this guy has absolutely no idea what he's doing. He's not a badass who always beats the villains, he's an incompetent failure with no more or less fighting skills than the average person would have.

I like how Gerber acknowledges that what he's doing is not THAT different than what superheroes do.

And then he goes insane and starts killing people at the drop of a hat.

DID OP SKIP A PAGE?

This comic pulls no punches about the nature of what he's doing and its consequences and it's better off for it.

The whole point though is that he's NOT insane. He's just in WAY too deep.

A man who does the things he does is not sane. Try working out in trash. I dare you. I double-dare you motherfucker.

There's a reason Gerber did a superhero cameo issue. Don't worry. It still works out pretty well.

This is arguably the best issue in the story.

His epiphany is one of the most well written scenes in any comic ever.

The entire point of this comic is that the classic 80s "serious superhero story" cliché of "you'd have to be crazy to be a superhero" is wrong. You wouldn't have to be crazy, but it'd ruin your life if you tried.

I don't believe you. His behavior is not sane.

take a guess

They pretty much telegraphed this from the beginning.

That guy deserved it most of all.

I'll upload it to zippyshare in a bit. Hold on.

I thought so too, but then I noticed it was the Belt emblem on the previous costume, so I suppose it needs to be included to be a true Foolkiller?

Thanks mang

Bump

Do you suppose there's any way to get Marvel to release this in a collected edition? I pay top dorrah!

Attached: Shut up and take my money.jpg (580x300, 12K)

Wait hold up.... How long do we already live in a clown world?

Thanks OP, this was a great read. Its scary how well this reads today. Sometimes I wish he was real, but its foolish to wish for a foolkiller who does the dirty work so I dont have to.

Your definition of sane is lacking.
A furry convention is not sane.
Being gay is not sane.
Killing yourself is not sane.
Not caring about your fellow man is not sane.
But we don't call all these crazies insane, they don't get thrown into institutions, we've just normalized their behavior.

You know, that gun is actually really powerful. Where did he get it from, anyway? It's the only thing that doesn't seem to fit with the 'theme'.

Did the first Foolkiller make it?

Yes, read Gerber's Man-Thing, it's great.
Then read Omega the Unknown to see the origins of Salinger.

Attached: Foolkiller.jpg (1837x1529, 1.13M)

This is GOOD politics in comics, not any of that modern bullshit politics. There's philosophy here, not just party lines.

Psyching yourself up for some irl fool-killing eh?

This might be the most radical centrist comic ever made and that's a good thing

I think this is Gerber's strongest story on account that the major loose ends were tied up and the story concluded on a decent note.

Gerber actually agreed with you. He thought this was the best thing he written and I'm inclined to agree.

oh. i thought it said foot killer

I thought the same thing.

>When foot-fags take control of the government, only one man can stop their vile reign of terror: The Footkiller!

1945

That was a much better deconstruction than Watchmen ever was. Superb.

kind of want to make a tshirt out of now.

To be fair, aside from Spider-Man that's pretty much just being a part of the Steve Gerber universe

I gotta add to this, I feel like post-Gerber versions of Gerhardt feel like they've made him cartoon/sitcom crazy rather than the kind of crazy Gerber made him.

Final bump

There's a difference between acknowledging that people have political opinions irl and using a comic to voice YOUR OWN political opinions. If you think that even a single character in this comic shares Gerber's political views then you don't know anything about Steve Gerber. Unlike modern comics "writers", Gerber had no problem with writing characters that he completely disagreed with and not having to make them villains either.

Thanks, OP.

It's a good story, but it's also stupid how the gun one-shot every other person in the entire comic, but took not one, not two, but three shots for a kid at point blank range.

This is now my fav comic ever. Brilliant story.

Thank you OP.

You try shooting somebody when you're in shock...

I don't know if I would say it's better than Watchmen, but I do kind of agree the deconstructing is better than Watchmen.

To me this is funny because I couldn't think of too many things in the early 90's that had an obvious Watchmen influence, but Foolkiller was hardly a successful title (and besides, Gerber would've done this sort of series anyway even without Watchmen existing).

That's what makes it good politics in comic form, the fact that the writer is good at making characters feel real.

bump

>Riverdale
Archie's in there somewhere, trying to swoon Veronica.

Now I see why you recommended the storytime on the Watchmen thread

There's more Watchmen influence in early 90s than you're giving credit for. Most attempts at the time at "serious" superhero stories were inspired by Watchmen even if they were dissimilar in other ways. Even something like Kingdom Come is basically "the Mark Waid equivalent of Watchmen".

Which is why he was so good at writing. Fuck the propagandist faggots. be them from whatever side they are on. I'm not Reading comics to get converted to an ideology.

Wasn't Diana working in Taco Whiz about this time? Early 90's, before Desert Storm?

>Spidey fought a Foolkiller in ASM, but I forget which one it was.
It was Greg. I think it was that fight that actually lead to him being committed.

That happened a couple of years after this

>Bingo Bango Bongo
It's so goofy, but unsettling.

He's basically Gerber working out his frustrations with modern society while taking pot shots at Death Wish type stories.

No, but what I'm saying is he zaps people from a distance and at an angle and while they're moving and while he's nervous and everyone gets completely dusted except this kid.

That other kid got only a sliver of his midsection zapped, his torso and legs were found by the police.

>a David Dinkins reference
>not even a direct one

No one's gonna get that in a few more decades

Attached: dinkins donuts.png (576x448, 269K)

Kingdom Come was the "Mark Waid equivalent of Squadron Supreme", Waid himself said so.

Whoa, late to the party. So is this the same guy who started frying people because they disagreed with each other in a public debate?

damn, I don't miss the 80s or early 90s, when this level of crime was actually happening.

You can see him do so in this very comic.

Damn, I miss BBSes

Was this a character from earlier that Greg saved?

LOL, the murderrapist called him a sicko

Hey! The Carnegie Deli isn't a 24-hour place.

Wait, how did he know where this guy lived?

There was a season 3?

Daredevil had one too.

How well is Foolkiller portrayed? Which version?

It's funny that his superpower is just 'having a gun'. I don't think he actually fought a supervillain!

Salinger version but I didn't watch it so I don't know.

what does he mean by 'finally won one'?

He doesn't need supervillains, he lives in a society.

she doesn't attack the muggers but she does attack a guy for crudely flirting?

What would a modern Foolkiller be like? I guess that he'd keep the purification gun, but modernize the costume with body armor and a chest emblem / helmet for the fascist look. Maybe a reflective helmet to look even more intimidating.

Or maybe it's multiple people who have adopted the identity. Either way, if someone just walked up to an SJW and disintegrated him / her / xer, I'd probably cheer.

Given that his iconic weapon kills almost instantly, I'd say he's a bit fucking dark for someone like Ms. Marvel to fight. Maybe Daredevil.

I always thought Foolkiller and Moon Knight would make for a cool combo.

It feels like by doing that he ended up creating a unique character.

we know he can kiil?

I like the idea of multiple people taking on the role. Sure, any normal guy can't fight a superhuman, but the hero has to deal with five or six spontaneously showing up at the worst possible time.

The moral would be "Our society is so sick that, disquietingly, people are lining up for the chance to kill those they don't like".

What did happen to all those crack babies when they grew up?

How do we stop the incels from becoming the Thoth Patrol?

You're no fool, user.

Obviously at the end, the real Foolkiller (or their unknown sponsor, in a more elaborate suit) shows up and disintegrates them at the end, then walks away.

If you're talking a modern-day version of the Gerber Foolkiller, he'd hate both SJWs and Alt Right. A comic today would have screeching from Woke Twitter and Comicsgate. He would be going after celebs/people in power who have an actual history of sexually abusing people, and the people who make false accusations.

is right that he's a radical centrist.

We did have a Modern Foolkiller, in the form of Max Bemis' Foolkiller series. It was okay, but if you liked this thread's storytime, don't read the Bemis series. I can't really fault Bemis for writing Kurt Gerhardt the way he did because Bendis and Way fucked up the character.

> Foolkiller versus Ms. Marvel
Oh God, is he Brenton Tarrant?

Is that like the self-made Black Spectre, the former police officer, in the Ellis Moon Knight run? I liked that the comic took him seriously i.e. He nearly killed Moon Knight with IEDs, darts and a gun. He actually might have won if not for bad luck.

cop rock was great!

what's he talking about in the bottom pa nels?

That he's got no money

Didn't this fine and lovely lady also appear in Howard the Duck?

You must be mistaking her for Kidney lady.

Attached: Kidneys.png (1053x1531, 2.97M)

You should show the next page.

Was this the originial colors?

Only a fool doesn't discuss things

I see what you mean, but at least she's got a proper reason for shouting it.

Attached: Murder Murder.jpg (960x1500, 291K)

didn't she follow them to New York and continued her antics?

She did. Also took him to court and appeared completely different to make him look worse.
Howard the Duck was fun.

This is a guy who can see which way real estate market is heading.

And isn't this her a few months later?

>a few months
Howard the Duck is from the 1970's, this is from 1990.

>not this Foolkiller

Attached: based Foolkiller.jpg (1041x1600, 277K)

I don't know what that is but it doesn't look like Foolkiller to me.

That was interesting as its own thing, but it's more of a straight-up vigilante comic rather than one that was also critical of the whole vigilante thing.

what a bitch

The cliffhanger with the midget assassin swearing vengeance on him and Frank will presumably never get resolved.

well a lot of this is silly, the whole bit with him putting the gun in his mouth while wearing the gimp mask was pretty goddamn horrendous, but neverthless it was intense as fuck and I loved it

reminded me a lot of reading The MAXX for the first time: really trashy, uncomfortable and ridiculous

Not gonna lie lads, I've been scrolling past this thread for two days and I'm just now realising this guys name is Foolkiller and not Footkiller. Thought it was either like Rapeman or a TMNT spinoff.

I liked that these pages set up tension because you're left guessing if he would've actually gone through with zapping any or all of them, up until he decides not to.

But the silliness with the grittiness makes it work dude

I think that was supposed to be a dream sequence?

One final bump so people will wander here and read it

Someone even calls him "Footkiller" in the story lol.

Everything done with Foolkiller after this mini is crap.

well whatever it was phallic as hell and the gimp mask and tears didn't make any easier to overlook

I do kinda wonder how exactly it works, but I'm gonna guess if you get a perfect chest/head shot, it incinerates everything.

Was that a real thing?

Isn't Foolkiller a guy Peter Parker knew from college who seemed nice but was actually insane then eventually he goes "I'm the biggest fool of all!" and shoots himself?

It clearly was inspired by the entire trend of "what if superheroes were real?"/"serious superhero" stories from that era, and that trend was started (mostly) by Watchmen.

Who the fuck is that?

sliding time scale

>tofu-sucking
wow, the soiboi meme is older than I thought

That was Salinger, there have been several Foolkillers.

One even shot another recently too.

You should read what Waid himself said about it in the afterword of the Squadron Supreme TPB.

Badly. He's a generic serial killer

What is even the point of using the name?

youtube.com/watch?v=gLm5Sn1cMyQ

ever heard of Mr.A, to stay on the topic of comics ?

Amazing it took 30 years for someone to come up with that rhyme.

Is Waite supposed to be Donald Trump? He's doing the same things Trump did in the late 80s and early 90s (down to opening a casino in AC) - but he doesn't look anything like him and isn't nearly over the top enough.

Christ thats depressing

Brutally True

Heh killing literal nazis. But damn this story got to me, especially with how fucked over kurt was.

Nu Marvel could never do a scene like this. Back when anyone race could be racists and evil, not just whites

What a kino page

Man that last panel

HOLY SHIT that paged where the kid splattered was brutal, shit that caught me off guard

Im glad im not the average Yea Forumsmblrina squealing over Kamala Khunt, or Captain Bitch. This, shit right here is that good shit.

>Is Waite supposed to be Donald Trump?

Yes.
Despite what the election tourists might want you to think, Donald Trump has been hated a really long time.

Im probably the only who brings this up, but i always get a smile seeing a legitimate training scene in Marvel comic, it shows that being a hero takes effort, not just whats given to you, something Nu Marvel seems to forget.

Killing with a gun is way different than headbutting a rodent to death, that is stone cold

It would be some beta incel, who lost all his money to a insta thot, and whose parents where killed by antifa thugs or migrant refugees, who lost his job due to being #metoo'd and now can't find work as he's been put on the sexual offenders list. Honestly i'd use him to kill off all the shitty new marvel heroes that have come out as of late.

Wait, bendis wrote for gerdhart?

Boo the original costume was kino

Sorta.
He was a crowd filler in Bendis's Hood Super-villain army.

One hand one might say what he's doing is brutal, but on the other hand society would be better off without people like this, the fact that she fucking knew and did nothing to correct her son is enough of a reason for me

Was not expecting to see a teen get bisected by a gun today, and yet here i am

HOLY SHIT this guy is based

That sucks.

This comic is brutal, i love it

Yeah. There is nothing that made any damn sense about the Hood's army in Bendis Avengers, and Foolkiller made it pretty clear he just flipped through OHOTMU looking for neat designs or something.

Its funny how now the liberals are the aggressors

They didn't, he's never actually called Foolkiller at any point.

He had him in the crowd of villains wanting revenge on Spider-Man in the first New Avengers arc, even though it made absolutely no sense whatsoever (Gerhardt had a new identity at the end of the story, and if you read this entire storytime, he never actually faces Spider-Man). Then he was part of The Hood's crowd, which also makes no sense.

And then Way put him in Deadpool also in an out-of-character fashion too.

We now live in a world of pussies

Salinger, but nothing like Salinger. And Trish Walker killed him off anyway.

I assumed all the push for Salinger in recent years was because they were going to use him on Netflix.

I feel like as if he was aware of the Spider-Man comic where he fought the Salinger version of Foolkiller, and saw the cover of the 90's Foolkiller and thought it was similar.

You never saw Black Panther, did you? How about read the comic? Evil racist black dudes in both.

You're supposed to kill mice and rats by cracking their skulls.

>all the modern appearances of the Foolkiller is the retarded gimp-mask getup instead of the cool Zorro look
I'm disappointed and annoyed.

>You're supposed to kill mice and rats by cracking their skulls.

HEADBUTTING a small rodent to death is far different than just killing with say a weapon, thats what makes it so brutal. I've killed small animals before, but i've never once thought to slam my fucking face into them until they die.

>You never saw Black Panther, did you? How about read the comic? Evil racist black dudes in both.

C'mon you and i both know it only works because both the villain AND THE HERO are black.

So you're saying only minority heroes will have minority villains? So the Champions only fought Muslim fundies and the super-diverse Freelancers because their team was diverse?

I'm sure I can think of white or white-ethnic heroes fighting minority villains if I give it some thought. Maybe even a racist minority. (Daredevil fighting the Hand, for instance.) I've also noticed that after the 00's were filled with more realistic gangs that are all of one race or ethnicity, in the last few years we've started to see a return to ethnically diverse street gangs of the sort we see in Foolkiller and lots of 70s-90s comics.

Attached: spidey is too woke.jpg (1280x858, 446K)

I could see Kurt join a supervillain revenge team with the express purpose of killing them all. Greg too. Probably not Ross, unless they were hippies.

Jesus Christ, I can't believe this was written in 1990, this is current year as fuck.

Well I haven't, but then again Nu Marvel hardly has anything worth reading for me.

I'm not reading much nuMarvel either. Only minority villains that comes to mind right now is General Fortean in Immortal Hulk, and that new female Sinister Six in Amazing Spider-man.

But those along with Captain America are the only things I'm picking up monthly right now, so maybe some more avid readers could point out more.

This is the second Foolkiller comic I've read, after the one Bemis wrote just a few years back.
I throughly enjoyed Bemis' run without knowing anything about the characters, but now that I've read this, I can't help but think he did my man Kurt dirty.

OP, would you consider storytiming that next? I'd like to reread it now that I've read this, and see how it holds up in comparison.

Attached: deadpool explains the rise of agitprop comics.jpg (1280x990, 440K)

>I throughly enjoyed Bemis' run without knowing anything about the characters, but now that I've read this, I can't help but think he did my man Kurt dirty.

I'd say yeah, but at least he kind of remembered some things. I don't know how closely he followed Gerber's series but keep in mind he also had to take into account Bendis' and Way's takes on the character.

Attached: RCO011a.jpg (1041x1600, 495K)

This was from another issue of Bendis' New Avengers, you can see him in the last panel here.

Then after that Daniel Way used the character.

Attached: RCO022_1461936153.jpg (1020x1600, 408K)

Looking at it I wonder if Bendis must've thought Salinger and Gerhardt were the same person

>Crusader

... Did he ever actually even fight Spider-Man? Dude was a guy who got superpowers from a ghost from hating Thor so hard for not beig Christian.

So far I'm looking at wiki entries for his appearances and it doesn't look like he ever faced Spider-Man before that issue of New Avengers.

I think he and Cutthroat are just happy to have a hero to wail on, as opposed to Kurt, who for some reason is taking things personally.

Yeah sure, look for it tomorrow or this weekend.
