Raven is the most important teen titan character.
Without her the most popular iteration of the teen titans wouldn't exist. But despite the fact Raven is a rather unimportant character in the DC universe and her being the daughter of one of the most powerful evils out there is inconsequential.

Beast boy is one of the more popular character in DC, showing up in several cartpons and TV shows. Both his character design and super powers are recognizable at a glance but despite of that very few know about his tragic backstory that colors his personality. Instead he is usually seen as a naive and innocent jokester.

I remember reading about it only after the cartoon ended, and even after that they ended up breaking up.

They interacted with each other quite a lot, writers of the show even describe their dynamic as an old married couple.

I said this in the Young Justice renewed thread but this ship only works in the Teen Titans cartoon. If you ever add a "Beast Boy actually just makes jokes because he is depressed" element to it, the ship stops making sense since Raven is probably DC's most depressed character. They would just hurt each other, especially if you go full Wolfman and make Raven extremely manipulative and Beast Boy full-on sexual predator.

Kinda, it became popular in there. Geoff Johns was gonna ship them anyway, simply because IIRC Beast Boy is one of his favourite titans and Raven was his wife's favourite, so it symbolized their relationship or something.

I used to find this couple cut whenever i'd see images of them together, but then i started to see pics and fics of Beast Boy fucking Raven, Terra, Starfire, Jinx, Wonder Woman, and pretty much every lady under the sun. That's when i started to see what this pairing is really about and get kinda putt off whenever i see something with them together, because it's pretty clear that Beast Boy is just serving as a outlet for nerds to self-insert themselves as the loser but funny guy. I honestly don't know how anyone could self-insert as either character anyway. Sure, both personalities are common, but their backstory and the complexity behind their personalities have way more depth than people give'em credit for and are not something you can/should "self-insert".

Current continuity is a mess. Terra and Rose having beef with each other is basically taken from the New 52. Based on the Lazarus Contract, Beast Boy wasn't even on the TT when Terra infiltrated and she never betrayed the Titans since Slade called the whole thing off.

The only way this makes sense is:
1. Lazarus Contract happens, Terra and Slade go their separate ways.
2. Terra gets imprisoned with Beast Boy and gets tortured by Rose who is working for Harvest.
3. Terra, Beast Boy and a bunch of people escape captivity and start Ravagers.
4. Ravagers get wiped out, Terra and Beast Boy are the only survivors(none of the other characters have shown up since, so I assume they're dead) and get separated.
5. Terra joins Team Defiance, currently still alive and surprisingly the sanest person in Deathstroke right now.
I'm surprised that writers haven't revamped Terra and made her closer to the cartoon version yet. It's probably going to happen eventually.

Literally everyone has tragic origins in the superhero community.
Starfire's parents were killed, Cyborg's mom is dead and his father ignores him, Beast Boy couldn't save his parents from dying in an accident and then the Doom Patrol died, etc.

New 52 Teen Titans isn't canon anymore. The only thing you could make an argument for it's that there probably was a Teen Titans version of the team with Tim Drake, Cassie/Wonder File, Beast Boy and Raven on it.

That team was referenced in the first run where Damian led the TT(I think that this was during Rebirth since Jon Kent wanted to join that roster). Raven and BB's loyalty to Tim Drake was a point of contention during that run.

Ravagers got retconned way before Rebirth happened. Beast Boy has never been red. The first Superboy is Jon (Young Justice isn't canon). A lot of old continuity is expected to be canon again unless something from Rebirth references New 52 continuity instead.

But you are right, it is a mess. But regardless on what's going on with Doomsday Clock, Manhattan is to blame for messing things up. He's the scapegoat for the fucked continuity.

Tim is Robin. Kon hasn't existed since pre-Flashpoint and Jon is the only Superboy, not even Chris is canon anymore. No other comic has acknowledged anything happening in Young Justice. It's Bendis.
