WTF happened? Why isn't this the case anymore? Who decided that all the girls in cartoons have to be plain and asexual? Why wouldn't you want as many cute girls in your show as possible?

This was back when things like that were still considered raunchy humor and not a thought crime. You know, back when Playboy could joke about underage girls in their comic section. The very concept itself constitutes a joke. No one thought past it.

She keeps getting forgotten
They never make merch for her either

Considering how much Yea Forums drooled over and fapped to that Modifyers short, I'm surprised this board doesn't shower Penelope Pitstop with more love. Her design is pure 60s mod.

By the mid '90s kids wanted to either imitate Liefeld or go for DBZ

Had she been revived in the 80s/90s, she might've had a chance. You try it in this era, these repressed swamp hags will bitch and complain

There's a criminal lack of decent Cindy art, too, but I don't wanna get banned so I'll zip it.

I theorize that Ghoul School, 13 Ghosts, Reluctant Werewolf, etc. were all originally original plots that Hanna Barbera thought wouldn't be marketable without established and iconic characters. That would explain why the paranormal exists (despite it never existing in the old show), why characters are absent, in odd pairings. or otherwise out of character (Shaggy is an accomplished race-car driver with a girlfriend in Reluctant Werewolf, a gym teacher in Ghoul School, Daphne is just in 13 ghosts and does nothing) and why original characters appear never to be mentioned again (Googie, Fim-Flam, Vincent Van Ghoul, Boo Brothers, all the Ghoul School characters).

To be fair, a few episodes of classic Scooby Doo did imply some supernatural. Like, didn't the Yeti one reveal the creature was legit and not a douche in a suit? of course, one has to remember that Scooby doesn't have a super tight continuity, what with shows like MI being entirely self-contained, and things like the live-action films taking liberties with the setting and lore of the characters. But yea, you're probably right that the redshirt trilogy was likely original works that got retooled into featuring Scoob and Shag for the sake of making some profit. As for 13 Ghosts, that was the last entry in the era of the "No Fred or Velma" shows, since those two were removed from the gang for quite a time while it was just Shaggy and Daphne and whatever combinations of the dogs.

Attached: Hex girls.jpg (640x480, 41K)

Attached: 1293583022.befpraizy_rosiesdoingthelaundry.jpg (276x475, 91K)

That doesn't explain the other DTV movies like Zombie Island and Alien invaders.
I dont get the need WB feel to retcon the paranormal out of Scooby Doo like said the original show had a Yeti.

A pup named Scooby Doo also had some real monsters.

Attached: 1326855094903.jpg (400x400, 46K)

Zombie Island was different though. For one, the guy who wrote the script basically recycled it from his canceled show, Swat Katz, and also was given creative reign to take Scooby in a direction that was pretty new at the time. Most of the shows treated their worlds like monsters weren't a thing (with the exceptions of the New Scooby Doo Movies and 13 Ghosts shows), so Zombie Island decided to legitimately take on the idea of real monsters with the gang having their doubts until faced with incontestable proof.

I mentally group Witch's Ghost, Zombie Island, Alien Invaders, and Cyber Chase as their own kind of 'era'. They included the paranormal, but almost in response to the original series which was more guarded and skeptical in their portrayal (for example, the set up of Zombie Island is that they are searching for something real after years of hoaxes). And importantly, the whole gang is together and in character.
The Red Shirt movies are so thematically different from one another and any other Scooby Doo media I can't help but feel that they are completely separate.

That's okay but I still don't understand the need of WB to remove all the paranormal stuff from Scooby Doo, It is a fucking cartoon after all and you can still write a good mistery around it...removing all the paranormal stuff from the DTV movies feels really silly.

Attached: 1405567740033.jpg (1300x1132, 120K)

Daphnie for sure.

Attached: 1410728582260.jpg (1600x1234, 229K)

Well, the show wasn't ever meant to have any serious continuity, what with how it was treated like a sitcom for many years with the laugh track that was part of almost every show until I think 13 Ghosts or the show before that one. Then they've been doing the movies for the last 20 years, flipping between real monsters and crooks in costumes.

Attached: Scooby Doo girls.png (1252x1700, 2.48M)

Attached: 1410766531615.png (606x800, 240K)

>flipping between real monsters and crooks in costumes.
We haven't a single real monster since 2010.

Not like they're swearing off of it, they just write the movies and have whatever conclusion they feel like. Cyber Chase decided to make it more like the old days, where it's a guy in disguise, but also kind of cheated by having the monsters be "real" by proxy of being digital entities and thus not people. After that, the movies have sometimes been paranormal or just hoaxes.

Attached: 1410766671122.png (626x734, 308K)

Nice.

Attached: gfdfghj.jpg (480x360, 10K)

I know Mystery Incorporated is a little different so I will just speak for the original show.
If the paranormal explanation is viable all the time, the dynamic of the show is thrown off. The gang wouldn't have any clever clues to collect, no one to catch, no convoluted mystery caper wrap-up that explains it all. They would turn from a gang of friends that solve mysteries and debunk paranormal claims, to the ghost-busters. That being said, I'm not entirely against the paranormal existing in the setting, but it should be once in a blue moon to keep it genuinely special., which is what made Zombie Island so satisfying.

Attached: 1411285126460.jpg (2480x3507, 469K)

Thank-you.

Attached: Mel.gif (562x423, 711K)

So? Doesn't mean there won't ever be another real monster again.

>Not like they're swearing off of it
The curse of the 13th Ghost says otherwise after all even the writers said (during a podcast) that WB doesn't want more real monsters on the DTV Scooby movies and they where forced to make the 13th ghost a guy in a mask because of that.

Original series probably had the yeti and the few other real supernatural stuff just for some fakeout fun, and to tease that maybe some things in the world are beyond explanation. Can only hope the Zombie Island sequel doesn't mess with what was established in the original film.

>According to Tim Sheridan Warner Bros requested toning down of any true supernatural elements.

Who is third from the left?

Only time will tell if they keep to that for long or let it be real monsters again. The films are usually all self-contained like the many shows, only rarely ever implying ties to another piece of media. If anything, they might be trying to get some distance between the "legit monsters" so they can surprise fans again instead of having it be obviously real supernatural goings on like some of the films started to get.

That still doesn't mean "never again"

Attached: hot_callie_brigs_by_14_bis-d4zieh2.jpg (400x572, 63K)

It's been 9 years it sure feels that way, The least they could do is having Velma act less like a bitch...she was at her worst in the 13th ghost movie.

I think her name is Twiggy? She's from the Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show.

Nice.

Yeah what I'm saying is they shouldn't feel the need to over saturate it, and we should remember Scooby Doo is at heart a paranormal-themed detective show, the most successful of Hanna Barbera's numerous other shows with the same formula. The vast majority should be conventional guy-in-a-suit styled affair.
If it were all real all the time it wouldn't be interesting anymore when the paranormal does genuinely appear. It would destroy the dynamics of the characters, as well. Shaggy and Scooby would be genuinely right in their fears; Velma would be constantly dumbfounded, and Fred wouldn't be able to piece together a clever plan to catch it, not without turning the show into, like I said before, ghostbusters.

>If it were all real all the time it wouldn't be interesting anymore when the paranormal does genuinely appear.
It isn't interesting when it never does either.

Attached: tumblr_nnp564Txzf1ssfdoco1_540.png (540x540, 355K)

then I guess you want a categorically different show

Yes Scooby Doo is mostly mediocre and I only enjoy the earlier movies because the real paranormal stuff makes then actually fun to watch.

That was mostly jabbing at how she's been the designated skeptic since Zombie Island. They still implied that the show still happened as it Shaggy and Scooby remembered, but had the twist with the final ghost being a douche in getup.
Exactly. While they did break the "it's real monsters" around Cyber Chase, they were on/off with that stuff for a bit until Goblin King or whatever before they went back to the classic formula. I imagine they'll allow a real monster at some point, but only after once they can cook up a plot where it'll be a surprise. Because let's be honest, Zombie Island kind of spoiled the whole thing, though only with the zombies, since I think they did avoid spoiling the cat people reveal.

Yet plenty of the ones with guys in costumes have been great as well. Camp Scare was very solid and did a pretty good job at explaining the bad guy's scheme and how he pulled off the hoax, making just the right amount of believable and zany.

>That was mostly jabbing at how she's been the designated skeptic since Zombie Island.
Actually that was Fred...Velma went as far as using Sally's wiccan magic to defeat the witch and she only has been like that since Frankencreepy and only gets worse because they cleraly don't know how to keep it subtle.

Attached: a_little_show_for_you_by_shini_smurf-d7bkxnz.png (916x799, 345K)

I don't have an obsession with it, but I ended up watching the original 69/70 show a lot as a kid, some of the red shirt and a few of the Zombie-Island era films on VHS,
I enjoy them all, but I think of the original run as the foundation of the series. It captured a weird counter-cultural Americana vibe, which is why I think it excelled where Speed Buggy and Jabber Jaw faded away. Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, and the other films are more enjoyable when you look at them through the old show I feel.
A lot of the older episodes are still pretty iconic to fans, I imagine.
youtube.com/watch?v=wmOp43FoF5g

Attached: char_27156.jpg (210x240, 19K)

Well those are different movies, and like I said they rarely bother with the continuity most of the time. Zombie Island, Velma was pretty skeptic until the zombies showed up, then she started to accept it. After that, she'd either be really skeptical, or open to the idea. MI had her pretty much having a near breakdown when she began to realize that the truth of what lied under the town was beyond simple scientific reasoning.

Speaking of Jabber Jaw and Speed Buggy, got to wonder if that Hanna-Barbera universe will take off and give them a new lease on life.

When will we get the Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan back in action?

Who knows, but it better have Jackie Chan in it

I just watched that shit the other night. All I remembered was the boss intro theme. The show itself was just kids dicking around until they stumbled into a solution to the mystery. I wasn't surprised, but I had to go and watch a Charlie Chan movie after that to remind myself that Chan is the man.

Wouldn't mind an MI-styled reboot of Fang Face, have it be darker than the original cartoon, but still a bit lighthearted. I guess like the Teen Wolf reboot but not stupid edgy.

Make the skirt shorter, please.

This one has Bakshi vibes on it.

I always hated her for some reason

Probably. Need a strong girl to balance it all out. 2019 and all.

I didn't draw it, dingus

Claiming best HB girl

I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the drawfag.

Proper sequel or spin off never.

Dingus

I mean, Betty is nice and all. I could go with Betty... But i'd be thinking of Wilma...

OH THAT'S THAT GOOD SHIT!

Suck it Jay Naylor you bush league furfag

She kinda reminds me of Integra from Hellsing

Remember the episode where her and the boys got trapped in an underwater base with freaky fish?

I remember that episode because that dumbass scientist just couldn't leave good enough alone and then got torn to bits right in front of everyone.

That scared the shit out of me as a kid

Yeah, same here. That one was one of the earliest instances I can remember seeing someone actually die in a cartoon that wasn't a Disney-style implicit fall to their doom ending.

Underrated girl. She was kinda mean, but come on, she was hit on by a mutant shark.

The future: mean have become pear-shaped, but women became super-models. Also wow, was Judy a slut. George was against it, but was a wimp who couldn't do shit about it and Jane didn't mind at all. You don't see boy-crazy girls in cartoons anymore, not even in a wholly negative comedic light.

Attached: 1536020313291.png (900x1103, 248K)

>you don't see boy crazy girls
Mabel from Gravity Falls springs to mind, but yeah, they're rare.

What powers does red-shirt Shaggy have?

Well, Mabel is that comedic option that is, I guess, just super-rare now, not extinct as I thought for a moment. The girls who don't just want to date a lot of boys but actually do, aren't a thing anymore for sure though.

The willpower to resist a sex-starved country girl who will do things to you on that haystack that will prove to you that she doesn't even know the meaning of the word "inhibition" seems like a super-power on it's own.

I remember being confused at not recognizing half the people on the "evil" team. Not surprisingly since they were fucking OCs. To what end? Is there not enough villains in H-B? Those Dick and Muttley knock-offs were especially baffling. But at least we got Daisy, the rural hottie.

I did love the fact that the Really Rottens occasionally won in the end.

What's up with all the weird colors? Fred wearing blue, Wilma wearing black with black pearls...

I did like that they got Keye Luke to play Charlie Chan after he playing Charlie's son in most of the serials

OK, Yea Forums. Would you choose Betty or Wilma?

Betty

Kinda reminds me of Nell from Advance Wars

Attached: Aw2-nell.png (650x1150, 329K)

This is stupid. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma ? She’ll never leave Fred and we know it.

All of the GS girls are best girls

Who're the two cave girls under Jana?

Not Hannah Barbera, Ruby-Spears. Common mistake though.

That's Penelope's Wacky Races outfit.
Her Perils design was slightly different.

Attached: penelope pitstop.jpg (976x728, 87K)

Speaking of Ruby-Spears, their version of Roll from Megaman was sexy as hell

Betty has an all-around better personality. But I ship her with Fred.
youtube.com/watch?v=T2CFC5V9huk

Oh please, she's never against being romanced by hunky men. It drives Fred crazy all the time.

Besides, she's not even a natural redhead!

Lots of options on the cave times .

HB girls are so fuckin cute!

But then... You know, there's almost no fan art of them... So that's a peril.

Different times.

Just watch out for the urotsukidoji section

Feels like a curse of the djinn.

I'm Disgusted that NO ONE on this thread have These Foxes yet!

Exit, page 10?!
Heavens to Murgatroyd! You MUST be joking!

>Not the episode when they're at the strip club and he yells "Take off your shoe!"

Why were bears in HB cartoons always Southern Belles? Cindy, the Hillbilly Bear girl, and one that was in a bunch of Loopy De Loop shorts. Always Southern Belles. Always bears.

Southern belles in general were pretty prevalent in HB, honestly.

>No replies
Sigh... nobody respects him.

wasn't she in a bathing suit?

I love how he actually copyrighted it for HB

Warner Bros. Animation/Ruby Spears

what show was this again?

HB was into southern characters as a whole, not just the females. You'll really see it in the males.
If they weren't from a specific place (prehistoric, wild west, ect) they would just about always be southern

anyone have a pic of that girl from The Little Rascals in a bathing suit from the treasure map episode of that show

Gentlemen, I am retiring to my 'contemplation' room and I may never return.

See you later, Papyrus.

thank god there's no nipples

Yeah, my poor, virgin eyeballs might have been scarred.

The Thing cartoon.

Betty was everyone's favorite.

Attached: Flint01.jpg (687x866, 219K)

Jab's take is the one that got me into Flintstones lewds.

Got me to print out that Betty flashing pic.

You know the one.

>We finally have the license to Casper! What do we do with it?
>Let's make him a space cop!

HB was on a level no mortal could understand.

Attached: space casper.jpg (276x183, 10K)

Now as an adult I appeciate the teen angels but when I was a kid I fucking hated the.

the image with the two on the couch is still my favorite from him .

Casper is dead
So he hangs out with angels
In outer space

It all makes sense if you read Dante's Paradiso.

>Back to Cindy.

What about Cindy's back?

This must explain the Thing Ring and the Schmoo.

>Cindy's back?

I remember when this was made awhile back for that Secret Squirrel threads
God I love those threads, some of my favorite on this site

Nice nice.

Nobody liked them, she was an uber cunt and he was obnoxious.

Good stuff.

Hey hey, Boo Boo.. how'sa 'bout we steal us one 'a those pic-a-nic bump'ns?

I hate how this motherfucker has to put annoying forced text in everything he does. Nice lewds, but fuck are the messages corny as all shit.

>blue shirt fred

They're called jokes you fucking automaton.

I remember when I first got Cartoon Network. So many nights and days fapping to Rosemary.

>Penny Squirrel pics deleted.
>Callie pics are still up.
what did the mods mean by this?

thanks user.

Fuck.

The artists and colorists didn't always get good refs beyond model sheets on what they were supposed to be doing. You should some of Gold Key's early Star Trek comics.

bump

But they aren't funny.

>that visible ass line on the one in belle bottoms
WHY DO THEY NOT GET POOOOORN

It's almost certainly not intended to make you laugh or come off as particularly clever. The wordplay is his works mainly to establish a light and often playful mood along with the transparent eroticism of the imagery.

i wish to mating press her

Attached: commission__secret_agent_honeydew_by_grimphantom-d7n6bzk.png (1024x955, 961K)

she's fucking hot. do porn of her. also who is she

This is a misuse of your tantric energy.

It's like a switch was flicked in the 70's that made HB go nuts.

Incidentally, anyone got any art of Kitty Jo from Chattanooga Cats?

...
