Sure, as long as you got a number of characters to rotate through.
I'd advice adding some general gesture and anatomy practice though. Avoiding things you're struggling with is just setting yourself up for more frustration down the line.

Cat-man poster here, started drawing when I was little. Never stopped, for 10+ years.
A lot of the time, I'll struggle with shit, and after getting it wrong and practicing for a bit, I usually end up getting the hang of it fairly quickly. Can't imagine the hell it must be to try and teach yourself when you're older, but I guarantee you it's not impossible.
tl;dr Failure is normal, expecting the Mona Lisa right out the gate is not. And sometimes, drawing something over and over really does help out.

I could never remember all the details from watching shows like digimon but having one of the toys in hand (as off model as the transforming ones were) kickstarted stuff for me. Having something for reference helped in the beginning.

Thanks, user. All I can recommend is to study photos, backgrounds from media (comics, animation, etc), and get a grasp of basic perspective, values, and composition.

I've been drawing all my life and only bothered to start studying two years ago. I drew just cause I was a kid, and kept up with it because I liked Neopets. All I can recommend is to jump into it and start practicing, /ic/ has resources on the fundies which are very useful

6 years old, I started by copying pages of Condorito, dozens of them, I'am self taught.
It's hard to pinpoint for how long I have been drawing as I tend to quit over extended periods of time,the longest being two years.
When things get rough, If you are suffering from mental illness, never give up on art, never give up on the one thing you love the most, everyday will ache more and more. Don't let feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy take art away from you.
