Was this the best spider-man story outside of the comics?

you could argue its the best peter/spider-man outside of the comics, but there's probably a better overall story out there.
Michael Foster
Pretty much, it had everything that makes for a great Spidey story, easily the best Spidey has ever been outside of the comics
Jordan Bennett
>organic web
Jack Collins
This or Spectacular
Jonathan Turner
It's a tie between this and Spectacular Spider-Man. The Insomniac version excels being a competent adult Peter with a Miles that isn't forced, while Spectacular does a decent telling of high school Peter.
Kayden Mitchell
Not necessarily just yet, but it could absolutely be by the time the series has time to conclude.
Bentley Johnson
they really did the sinister six dirty in the game by putting them in for 2 minutes while spending the first half of the game around mr.negative's plot and just stupid shit like MJ gameplay
Leo Cruz
idk man, miles was basically just there because he's miles. they could do good with him in the sequel, but he felt forced to me
David Anderson
I think what we got was sufficient. And you say "Mister Negative's Plot" when in reality the entire game was about Otto.
Grayson Cook
Compare Insomniac Miles to comic Miles.
>No alt universe muddled bullshit
>Has a clear connection to Peter and a driving motivation in the aftermath of the city hall bombing
But you're right, it's something that we still need to see pan out in the sequel
Noah Torres
that's true but all the missions in the first half of the game has you exploring mister negative's shit when we could have been fighting members of the six throughout the game, putting them in jain. and THEN doc ock frees them and they become the s6 and you do the dual boss fights.
Andrew Foster
The fundamental concept of Miles is to jam him down the public’s throats. I liked him in the game because of but no actual spider-man fan will ever fully accept him. For its its only because bendis gets paid every time he’s used, so I’ll never pay for those comics
Jayden Gutierrez
yeah, comics miles is still the most forced and the worst by far. it feels like no one knew what to do with him until ITSV. I'd bet Insomniac will take influence from that in the sequel.
Austin Perez
>but no actual spider-man fan will ever fully accept him
I wouldn't go THAT far. See Miles is a half baked idea made from a faggot writer, but admittedly can be salvaged. I hated all the shit pushed with him years ago, but the game and Spider-Verse do prove Miles can have a place in Spidey lore. The trick is introducing him late in Peter's career, as a sidekick type thing.
Brayden Collins
Well see the funny thing is that this game was written by Chris Gage, the guy currently writing Superior Spider-Man. Miles only works in this game because he's not bogged down by old canon and editorial bullshit. And yeah it's basically becoming Gage's job to undo Slott's shit, just like Spencer
Nolan Ward
Nah. It's middle of the road, which is amazing by curremt standards.
Owen Torres
Anything can have potential, that’s the point of the word. Miles fundamentally exists not to add but to replace. That’s it in ten years he hasn’t added anything to the lore, hell he still has no villains or motivation to be spiderman after five years of being in 616
Brody Morris
>That’s it in ten years he hasn’t added anything to the lore, hell he still has no villains or motivation to be spiderman after five years of being in 616
That's technically not true given his current series
Thomas Turner
Sure salladin added two ineffectual white guys as antagonists in his blatantly political allegories. I wouldn’t exactly call those villains, still no motivation to use the name spiderman though
James Bennett
While I do feel Miles was a bit forced and I'm concerned that every spin-off starring Peter is eventually going to have Miles show up, I think they handled his introduction well, and I trust them to not have him steal the spotlight from Peter.
Adam Ward
So you're just willfully ignoring Starling?
Lincoln Harris
I’m trying to willfully ignore Miles in general but you Miles fags make that impossible. But starling isn’t a villain she’s just his black cat, who ironically wouldn’t exist without peter, if she’s the kid of that guy who Brock sold venom to. So once again Miles has added nothing to the lore
James Johnson
>tfw have to pay $500+ to play the sequel
Charles Nelson
2023 is when i expect the game to come out.
Jace Foster
>Milesfag
Not really, no. I hated him years ago, now I'm indifferent. I'm just thankful he's not trying to outright replace Peter now.
Ayden Russell
>no villains
Like clockwork
Ryan King
Look it’s the multiverse gimmick that Otto is currently doing better.
Adam Watson
It's great because it takes it self seriously. (the MCU Spidey is a meme honestly) while putting appropriate jokes. Can you imagine if the Doc Ock vs Peter fight was done by the MCU? It would destroy all the emotional tension of that scene.
Nolan Sullivan
Don't act like he's a main stay, he was just introduced an issue or two ago. He could even be a pre-established villain
Nathaniel White
Hmmm I dunno, it's good but it's no Neogenic Nightmare parts 1 thru 14...
James Price
In the next game Peter will probably be mentoring miles and some early missions will have both working together. As the situation grows more serious Peter will have miles sit out so miles will go out on his own and have to be saved by Peter. Then Peter probably dies in the climax and you get to play the post game free roam as miles
Ian Wilson
that wont happen. they wont kill peter. the backlash would be huge
Charles Allen
That sounded fine up until the end.
Ian Jenkins
What makes more sense is the symbiot takes over peter and as you play through the game as pete you see his changes until it corrupts him fully, the climax of the game is playing as Miles to stop Pete and put him back on the right track by getting the symbiot off. I can imagin they’d kill Pete off in the second game
Isaac Perry
So the sequel, Venom, Wraith, & Green Goblin? With Miles, possibly co-op?
I know characters like Chameleon, Mysterio, Vulture, Sandmam, Flash, Eddie, Betty. Etc have all been mentioned in the dialogue
Luke Wright
Vulture was one of the bosses in the third act. I think Lizard was mentioned.
Ryan Fisher
Mm that's right, I took him down so quick that I forgot about him. Yeah the Lizard was mentioned, and AIM. Presumably since Pete thought the fake Spidey was Chameleon at first, that probably means hes fought Kraven before too
Joshua Reyes
The story was shit. Huge plot holes abound. Shocker got more of a boss fight than anyone in the sinister six. Retarded martial law and foreign military members operating in new york and other stupid shit. Game has huge gaps in plot progression and is overrated as fuck. Characters all look like down symdrome retards. Mj is worse than the nagger in the movies.
Jason Young
Lizard was mentioned during one of the back pack item explanations. Honestly I hope we’ll get mysterio in the second game he’s pretty much built for great side missions like the scarecrow missions in the Arkham games
Joseph Mitchell
>Huge plot holes abound.
Name em, Yea Forumstard subhuman
Ethan Hughes
>shocker got more of a boss than anyone
what?
>retarded martial law
not retarded at all. made sense.
>huge gaps in plot progression
where?
>mj is worse than nagger in movies
she's bad but not that bad
Jack Taylor
Spectacular.
Juan Ortiz
How would a Chameleon boss battle work?
Ian Parker
The next game definitely needs to step it up in boss battles, the ones in the first game were decent, but were too short and repetitive, barring maybe Mr. Negative.
>Sandman battle on Long Beach in a huge sand structure where nowhere is safe and webbing is useless
>Kraven battle is a reverse stealth section where a drugged Spidey has to avoid all sorts of traps and ambushes
Bentley Carter
Maybe a puzzle/strategy where it's a public event, disguising himself as various people in the crowd that you have to pick through, giving both Peter and the gameplay a sense of danger coming from any corner. Each time you land a hit, he adopts more strategy that pushes Peter to rely on quick reaction. By himself I don't think Chameleon is a strong boss fight beyond those gimmicks but coupled with Mysterio changing the environment or whatever it can be tense and fun.
Luis Garcia
It’d be like those car missions where you have to swing around a certain area until you find him, fight a couple goons then rinse and repeat that over like 4 missions until you finally get him
Daniel Ross
But MCU Spidey doesn't have quips during his final showdowns. Have you seen the movies?
Aaron Hill
Spidey x Yuri should have been endgame.
Michael Powell
How was the story to Edge of Time? It looks interesting.
Brody Kelly
That would probably work. Maybe at first you just have to eyeball some civies and attack him, then he changes it up and Spidey has to bust outa gadget that can detect the difference in Chameleon's body (if he's not entirely human in this universe). Alternatively, they could do something like the planned fight with Decoy Octopus from Metal Gear Solid 1, wherein you were supposed to figure out among which of the hostages was Decoy in disguise and then have him keep trying to blend in until the fight ended.
Wyatt Bailey
It's pretty fun. If you don't mind the samey environments it's worth playing.
Henry Reyes
>Dude killing people is wrong
>Electrocutes random thugs for hire and throws them off buildings
>Turn your brain off bro, it's just a game!
>
David Thomas
It's not that much voltage, and literally every guy you throw off the roofs are stuck to the sides with webs. Stop being retarded.
Jonathan Diaz
Take off your mask... I want to see my nephew.
Brandon Fisher
I'm hoping they save Green Goblin for the third game.
I'd love to see another take of the 90's animated series where Hobgoblin comes first as a mercenary hired by Osborn in the second game, then have Osborn decide to do the job himself as the real goblin in the third.
And please, no more Screwball.
Lucas Johnson
I feel like they'll have some teases of Gobby, but maybe as a seemingly benevolent figure (though really just out to secure Harry's health) and then turn evil for the third. However, the idea of Hobgoblin using the tech first and then failing and driving Normy mad could also work. Also have to wonder if the Symbiote will be a one and done deal in the second game, or have a lasting role into the third and possibly beyond.
Luke Adams

Nicholas Fisher
Marvel refuses to have any Spider-perseon be a sidekick, because they're convinced that Spidey owes his popularity to being a teenager that isn't a sidekick
Noah Stewart
Their voice actors are married IRL. And once you know that, you can feel it
Ethan Carter
Spider-Man (PS1 and PC) was better.
Justin Wood
Well good thing it's not Marvel's call to make, Insomniac can make Miles be a sidekick for a while and then let him become a full Spider-Man by either the third game or maybe fourth after Peter probably bows out to settle down with MJ or whatever.
Owen Russell
I'm curious as to how they're going to change Norman physically. He's pretty old and not in the best shape in the first game. I hope to God they find a healthy balance between tech-style and the classic look, and that they stay the hell away from Ultimate Shrek.
Anthony Cox
I could see him just being like most comics and the Raimi version; a dude who gets some gains from a serum. As for actual goblin monster, they could possibly have that happen as a sort of final form deal, like Norman goes even more insane and overdoses, causing him to mutate, which could be more interesting than "in this universe, it literally turns you into a goblin creature". Of course, I'd be more worried if it turns him into a fucking Leprechaun like in ASM2.
Zachary Morales
Not really. That was a fun and solid game, but the swinging was pretty much just making gym ropes appear to move around the few open levels and then quite a bit of corridor combat.
Thomas Sanchez
Surprised nobody ever did an audio swap video with Ock and Rigby, given it's the same VA.
Ryder Jenkins
Xavier Allen
Well that's odd, I searched around and nothing ever showed up when I tried searching for that sort of thing before. You'd think there would have been quite a few vids of scenes from the game and Regular Show swapping Otto and Rigby's voices. Hell, I'd have imagined a bunch of pics on here with Rigby dressed as Doc Ock as well.
Evan Sanchez
>Kraven battle is a reverse stealth section where a drugged Spidey has to avoid all sorts of traps and ambushes
funny that's how people predicted the fight batman/copperhead in arkham origins.
Nathan Martin
We need one more Screwball section where we finally nab her.
Caleb Price
So is the dlc any good in this game?
I'm almost done with the main story, not sure if I should get the DLC.....
Isaac Nguyen
We got her at the end of her shitty dlc segments.
Michael Robinson
Not like that'll stop them if they decide to go full Riddler with her crazy ass. I wouldn't mind her so much if she were just a bit more chill, since I think they got the annoying e-celeb personality down a bit too perfectly.
Jose Gutierrez
It's alright, but there's only so much story-content that you may want to either just skip them entirely or wait until there's a sale on the three packs. The extra challenges are pretty meh, namely the Screwball ones since it's usually just "slam this asshole into the ground while there's a spotlight on it" or "use the same one-two gadget combo to win points. As for the main story, it's certainly interesting, but if you're not too keen on Hammerhead getting cozy with Sable's tech, you might not want to bother. Still, the bonus costumes are pretty rad, but nothing you'll be dying to have in the main-game.
Ian Miller
Every single instance of Miles is at least somewhat forced. I don't dislike him but literally nobody is a fan of him.
Justin Long
Some people are.
Austin Morales
Into the Spider-Verse
Logan Garcia
I hated that desu. She was a plot device moreso than character. I felt the death wasn't earned.
Ethan Green
>She was a plot device moreso than character
That's wrong, she had plenty of character going for her.
Zachary Sanchez
t. nostalgiababby
Blake White
Wonder how much longer until they announce the next game.
Samuel Taylor
miles will be stealth and recon and computer shit, so those missions wont be forced civilian shit.
Jayden Watson
she trusted peter to do the responsible thing and let aunt may, the last pillar of his childhood, go for the good of everyone else. it was basically a fuck you to one more day and its what sold me on this adaptation of peter and may. i guess you could say she was a plot device but she did more than the usual "i'm old and peter is never here for me for some reason" thing
Gabriel Foster
Is there any Complete Edition of this game?
Jason Kelly
Not at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised if by the holiday season Sony rolls out some kind of completed version with all of the DLC packed in and maybe a few new costumes that won't be added to the regular version until a later patch.
Angel Sullivan
Alright thanks. I will wait for it to come out later.
Dylan Cook
Nah, the story is kind of shit desu. Mister Negative's plot makes absolutely no sense, the Sinister Six are just kinda there with no proper build-up, Otto is cool but turns full retarded out of nowhere...
Carson Miller
There's always a chance it might not happen at all. The game is much cheaper than when it launched, so it could end up that you just buy the base game whenever, and then get the DLC when that has a sale. Of course, the DLC isn't entirely necessary, at least not in the way some DLC is where you're up the creek without playing it.
Kevin Cox
Disagreement.
Adrian Clark
You're free to disagree. We both live in a free country, I presume.
