I was very surprised how good that was. The animated movies haven't been good recently, especially Batman, I didn't care for the comic, recent TMNT hasn't appealed to me. But it hit every note very well.

I saw the trailer for it and noticed it was completely different right off the bat. Why do they do this? Why bother adapting a comic book story if you're going to change over half of it? They did this with Public Enemy and Killing Joke and they both turned out terrible for it. You basically have story boards made for you already.

There was that Dini comic during his Tec run where she sticks her one night stands in plants and dissolves them and films their reaction. If I remember right, so many people hated that issue that Dini apologized for it. DC still collected it for the trade though.

Part of the New 52 was using the same versions of characters across all media. It’s why the animation department went straight into the garbage and started pumping out all the movies aping Young Justice’s art style. The last straight adaptation I remember is The Dark Knight Returns, outside of that only Timm, Batman Ninja, TMNT movie broke the mold.

I wish they had the balls to change everything that was wrong with the actual story, like making Hush someone else instead of the usual suspect.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I like his art on some days, particularly his Hush Batman and T-shirts that use his art, but I'm not a fan of his style on the whole. Something I particularly don't like is how he can't seem to draw a friendly-looking Superman. If Superman is supposed to be the guy kids flock to for hope, then his just ain't doing it.

Another forgettable DC animated mess. They should have just taken some elements from Hush and some from Heart of Hush (Paul Dini's Hush stories are much better than Loeb's).
I totally see why they combined Hush and Riddler as the big mastermind to save time, but Riddler is introduced too late and has far too little screentime for the reveal to work. The brain surgery setup makes no sense now either, what did Riddler have to gain from it? And Batman's absolute rage over Tommy's death doesn't work without the flashbacks, since we only see the two exchange a couple of sentences with each other on screen.
The unnecessary tie-ins to remind us that this is a shared universe don't do the movie any favors, either.

The movie did provide delicious designs of Poison Ivy and Catwoman though.

Tim Drake fans moaning about Damian should take comfort in the fact that Damian only had a minute of screen time and it was a video conversation with Bruce. So Damian didn't steal Tim's role, not like Tim had much of it to even begin with. Ofcourse in that minute Damian showed more personality than Tim ever did in almost 2 seasons of Young Justice lol.o I cant help but wonder that Damian wasn't given Tim's role because Tim got his ass kicked by Selina and Jason in the comic.

No. Hush, while not as bad as Ultimatum, is generally considered to be Loeb after he went crazy and lost all his talent. It's a retread of Long Halloween + Dark Victory with a lot of poor storytelling and 'dramatic moments' that don't hold up to actual scrutiny.

I actually enjoy the story in the same way I enjoy Sinestro Corps War, an entertaining 'all style, no substance' storyline but Yea Forums generally quite dislikes it.

Because the only really good thing about it was that twist, and you could even argue that it was at the expense of a character, or the potential of him, since they really shit on him a lot.

I just finished. Not sure what to think of them changing Hush’s identity twist. The comic was way too predictable and Hush was poorly written, so maybe it’s good they changed it.

I think the ammount of movies they shit out is relatedto the poor sales. They are killing the market by releasing 4 shitty movies a year instead of focusing on releasing 2 haf decent ones.
