Didn't Spencer recently reference 2099 in ASM?

Aside from Miguel and Doom which are key 2099 books they should bring Ravage back and introduce some other new characters.
Where 2099 misfired I think was not distinguishing itself as something new. It was supposed to be a new universe to join the trend alongside Image, Valiant, Milestone etc. but most of the books were just worse versions of mainline Marvel books.

X-Men 2099 was the biggest misfire. They were all OCs, not even any legacy heroes. There wasn't really anything connecting them to the X-Men other than the name and the general idea of mutants vs humans.
They should have either had an X-Man from the present still be alive in the future leading the team (preferably not Wolverine though), or had the characters take on the matles of the X-Men from 100 years ago, giving us Phoenix 2099 and Wolverine 2099 for instance.

Nah, I like that they were new characters, no need to retread everything. The problem is that the new concepts were really forgettable for the most part.

When Stan Lee's run on Ravage 2099 is one of my favorite books ever, Pat Mills ruined the book
X-Nation tried to fix the legacy character issue but it was too late, I did like the villains the Theater of Pain
