I think this shit is annoying since Jennika has that "Original Character Do No Steel" vibe to her appearance even without knowing the backstory of where the design originated from, but if I were to make one real complaint just from looking at OP's pic, it's that Jennika's yellow and Mikey's orange are WAY too close in shade and without clicking the thumbnail, I thought that was Mikey on the right at first.

They probably should've given Jennika a more unique color. At least with Venus, who had a light blue bandana, you'd never confuse her with Leo because her bandana was braided and she had an immediately obvious feminine body type. Jennika is just a boy turtle boy, same as the other TMNT, with a bandana color too close to one of the other TMNT's. Pretty crappy design choice.

Yeah her yellow under the right lighting veers too close to Mikey's orange. That's my only real complaint. Nick and Santoluuco did some neat work giving the four turtles unique silhouettes, and Jennika here seems to lack that. Oh well, hopefully when an artist like that does a stint they'll define her profile a bit better.

The characters story so far has been her trying to define herself. First as a member of the Foot, and now sort of coming out of treating the Foot as a cult and becoming a person again. So she's rather thinly sketched right now. She's by no means a clean slate, but if they really do slot her in to the core cast, she will be continuing that reinvention.

It has to be retarded in order for Jennika to get mutated. Like I said in the other thread, in hindsight this was really and obviously backtracked from the conclusion of "how can we make a 5th turtle", with all the plot points lining up to eliminate any alternative outcomes, regardless of how stupid that requires characters to act or events to unfold.

I'm not gonna say this will kill the book, because it won't, but it probably will be IDW TMNT's clone saga terms of being a clusterfuck.

She's 200 issues and years outside of their origin. It's not like she's being jammed in to the beginning like Old Hob was.

I'm more curious about how they'll handle Karai. She normally goes down a path of redemption, but IDW Karai has been by far the most evil Karai to date. That sword could be influencing her mind, but to what degree? And how to address that?

That happened in the Archie comic in the 90s. They unmutated her at the end. The message was that April doesn't need to be a Turtle to keep up with the TMNT and that the TMNT don't need a "Fifth Turtle" (which was even the title of that issue) because their dynamic is fine without one.

It was like that Pinky & the Brain & Larry episode, where they added a third character just to show to the audience that a new addition would fuck up the dynamic and wasn't needed. Of course, Pinky & the Brain did it anyway a year later by adding Elmyra. And TMNT did it a year later by adding Venus. So it's a lesson that doesn't seem to be easily learned by any franchise.

I don't even consider TMNT as having that core 4 person dynamic too much. The book has a huge cast of great characters that all need more time to shine. We see the turtles apart more than together since they all have their spheres of friends and allies.

first of all slash had a complete redesign after his first appearance, as did a few others lets wait and see how her design changes with different artists.

second the turtles are 16 she is 18+ and was already taller then them as a human the turtles are still growing though.
