Do you think its worth it to go to cal arts for the reputation of the school but risk ending up like RCDart? im honestly conflicted if i should bother trying to get in

i wonder how rcdart is doing nowadays. does anyone know anything about her

you should be more concerned about the exorbitant cost of going there + living in LA. you'll be in debt for at least a decade after, if not more. especially if you end up staying in the area.

You sound like a bigger faggot than they are so I doubt you can do any worse

Go for the connections but be serious about actually learning proper construction and art theory. This person ended up this way because she disappeared up her own ass. As long as you stay hungry and humble you'll be fine.

If you go it should be to make connections and to have the school name on your resume. Connections and cheap status grabs will always best out anything silly like talent or ability when it comes to securing work.

>im honestly conflicted if i should bother trying to get in

Show me your nonexistent portfolio you've prepared for art school in general, you stupid fuck. I don't give two shits about CalArts but god damn, you insipid make-believers are the biggest cancer eroding this board.

Art school isn't gonna crack your head open and make you do things against your will.

If you don't like how your art looks you will (hopefully) take steps to change it.

Yes
your art won't change styles unless it's already shit

This person is experimenting with a style that they like
Unless you're braindead, you won't be convinced to make shitty art

Basically everyone who works at Pixar and Disney came from CalArts, so why the fuck do people actually think these memes are real?

Every time.

she was the exception, not the norm.

uh, have you seen Pixar and Disney lately...?

Go to SCAD instead.

Rcdart is what happens when you lack self awareness/restraint and have a huge hard-on for tits and ass. As long as you have common sense you’ll be fine

Well they got rid of their social media pages so that should give you a rough road map of what the fuck happened to them.

The tuition alone is enough to not bother applying

True of all college nowadays.

My friend is going to CalArts for music. I’m thinking of visiting him and touring around to see what they teach in the animation department.

>Do you think its worth it to go to cal arts
No

You nailed it. Reminds me of when Cartoon Network had that training program and people were on here whining about how they wouldn't apply because they were afraid SJWs would steal their lunch money and they had a principled stance against writing a short essay.

This. No one can convince me otherwise that all Disney/Pixar artistd draw in the same fucking style.

Do not go to SCAD.SCAD alum here. Yeah it was in 2000 and I went for video/film but it's an overpriced daycare.

Find a nice state program or develop the discipline to learn on your own. There's not a damn thing they can teach you in college that you can't learn yourself through books and youtube videos.

Only go to art school if you're just above-average and need the connections to survive.
If you want to be a madlad art legend, fire up that portfolio and go FZD.

Is that the noncomformity chick from that Dilbert cartoon?

When I was a kid, all I wanted was to go to Calarts and learn to make Disney shit.

At what point did they decide that all you need to do is rip off Steven Universe?

you also have to struggle with a ton of debt tho

Don't go to art school. Just work on your portfolio and go to workshops for life drawing and shit.

It's definitely not worth putting yourself in debt $150k+ just for "connections" when there are so many other ways to make connections.

I actually applied but they didn't accept me

What’s your art look like? If you don’t feel like posting your own at least post someone with a similar style or skill level as yours.

>Do you think its worth it to go to cal arts for the reputation of the school but risk ending up like RCDart?
Honestly everything you could learn and do there can be found online and done at home on a medium grade computer. Like you say, you're paying for clout, and industry connections with nepotism. That in of itself is worthless.

The only benefit would be surrounded by people motivated to create cartoons. Otherwise you better force yourself to create them yourself because no one else will.

This was earlier in the year so my stuff's a lot better, but I just put together a quick storyboard about a goblin that comes to give you problems

Can I still see some examples of a style similar to yours?

This unironically is the biggest factor. Art schools are a scam.

who's they ?

Why would you waste time going to cuck school if you can draw and create a film independently to get scouted with the time and money you would of spent there.
